One star for their lack of communication, no schedule for service (so we're at the whim of theirs) that ended in them refusing all future service. I called to get our hot tub removed for disposal on June 10th, and said anytime after the 13th, and the best way to get it was on the left side of the house. Whoever I spoke to was pleasant. I didn't hear from them until mid June when they said they'd tried to call me multiple times- said they tried to get it but there was some water in it and couldn't access it from the driveway, even though I had told them to access it from the other side. I only had one missed call from them, and had no messages. I know my phone was working because I had calls from other people during that time. I apologized for the water as I didn't think of it, and gave them my work number since I don't have service when I'm at work. Later saw I had a missed call from them because I was at work-never got a call from my work phone (why else would I give my work number if not to call it?) And they left no voicemail. Called again the end of June to see when they'd get it, and they said 'next week' the week of June 29th. Never got a call and never saw them. The pool was covered with a tarp the whole week, but we left for vacation that weekend. On vacation saw a missed call and voicemail that they'd pick it up that Tuesday the 8th, only to get back home and it was still there-because the tarp had come undone on a corner and there was some more water in it (maybe a gallon?) Left another message the week of July 14th explaining and asking for an update. Never got a call. Had my husband call on July 26 (a month and a half later from the first call) which they told him they were refusing any future service because of my lack of communication and unreturned messages. They also said they knocked for 7 minutes on the door at 7am with the dogs barking and a car in the driveway-which must've been when we were on VACATION-and the house sitters car. Why wouldn't you call at that point? Or if no one comes to the door with the dogs barking maybe assume we're not home-and give us a call? read more

Last year we purchased a pool and when it was time to close the pool instead of scheduling an appt they taught me how to do it myself. Recently, setting it back up I could not figure out what was wrong and they talked me through it over the phone. It simply was not filled enough. This company does not care about customer service or providing the service they claim to provide. Earlier this year, in April 2014 we chose to replace our swimming pool and approached them, they offered a 24 foot pool including installation and removal of the old one, they promised to have the pool erected by end of May, the date came and went, we even offered to pay the whole amount up front even though we left the required deposit which they refused, eventually a rep called and laid down rules that we had no agreed, he made us remove the old pool and said the fence had to be removed and the deck lifted, another contractor did the work and another rep eventually returned saying the pool would be installed in two days, 2 weeks later we had still no service or contact and eventually my wife managed to talk to a senior member of management, he asked what was the latest date we would accept the construction and we told him June 27th as it was our sons graduation party the following weekend, he promised it would be done. First week in July I took off work and still no pool and no phone calls returned to explain why. The first Wednesday in July after my wife had left messages every day I called and nobody picked the phone up, I left a message that if nobody returned my call I would cancel, nobody called and next day I went to cancel and was told I would have to get my deposit back in the mail, instead I got a fake bill saying they had performed a service on April 14th and charged us for it, still no refund and they also stated we were late paying for it. We had already bought and paid cash in advance for the replacement from a more reliable company/ I complained to BBB who Poultney pools also chose to ignore. A lawyer has informed us that Poultney pools are committing business fraud by keeping the deposits and not providing a service, the same lawyer has advised us to take all correspondence to the Attorney generals office to lodge a complaint with the fraud department, I am issuing a letter to ask once more for our deposit back and if it is not forthcoming I will proceed with legal action needed. This company chooses to ignore any customer contact and tells a different story each time contact is made. I downloaded the Yelp app just to write this review. Terrible services. I was told after they had my pool vacuum for 2 weeks, that parts take a long time to order. On Saturday I called to see if it would be ready. The person answering the phone stated yes, there was nothing wrong with it and they just put it back together. So when I went to pick it up, I told the owner that his employee was dishonest about the reason it had taken 2 1/2 weeks. He said his business was only open for 90 days and that he couldn't please everyone. He also stated that they shouldn't have "helped me out" by taking it. I paid $200 for the filter service and my pool was worse than when I took it in. Also the vacuum didn't work when I got home. Really, if they were honest, I would have purchased a new vacuum that day. So they lost that sale. After this experience, I went to the only other place in town, they were at my house the next day and will be replacing my filter and pump next week. Funny thing, they couldn't get the vacuum working either, but found that there was a penny stuck in it that was corroded. Maybe Rusty didn't even take it apart, he lied about him needing to order parts. I would never recommend Poultney Pools for anything. EVER. read more
