Nestled in an unassuming network of cobble stone lined alley ways are hidden gems worth discovering.
We came looking for tapas, paella, sangria; and we found just that.
Location: Plaza de España is within a 5 min walk, blocks away from shopping, and 30 minutes from the airport by way of shuttle. Used Google Maps with several sharp turns to find this local favorite.
Service: the owner employs his pet Pomeranian, that follows the wait staff unconditionally. This is a no frills restaurant; grab a seat anywhere you like, and order off the menu.
What we ate:
Table service - pitted olives; briny and herbaceous. So delicious as an appetizer.
Crisp Potatoes - served with aioli and red pepper sauce; so simple yet so comforting.
Fried Calamari - can't go wrong with crispy calamari.
Pork & Mushroom Paella - I know we're used to seeing seafood, but pork and mushroom with crispy rice is different, bold, and worth each bite.
Sangria Blanco - I won't lie, it was heaven with the first sip, and it left me wanting more. Unlike its red cousin; white sangria is lighter and more fruit forward. So refreshing!
After 18 hours of transiting; this was a delectable experience.
