Awesome facility treats the animals with love and respect! Very clean and the adoption process is a breeze. We got our dog here 11 years ago and it will be our 1st choice when we adopt again.

I cannot say enough fantastic things about this place! My daughter and I arrived in Middletown a bit early for a hair appointment one day, and decided to stop in and take a look around (mind you, the primary and only intention was to just look and not adopt ) We were immediately impressed by the friendliness of the staff and the open and welcoming environment that the shelter offered. Fast forward about a half an hour or so, and we had our sights set on a sweet little black kitty named "Freedom". After our hair appointment, we immediately went back and adopted the sweet little boy (who we renamed "Ziggy"). Six years later, we couldn't imagine our lives without him and will forever be great full for the support that the Potter League gave us all throughout the adoption process and beyond. Both my daughter and I have visited numerous animal shelters and this one is by far, THE best one either one of us has ever come across. It's one of those places that you just have to experience for yourself. It may be a bit out of your way to get to, but you just have to believe me when I say.....it is worth the trip!!

I went to Potter League today with my sister to adopt a cat for their growing family. Since I'm a cat person I opted to help her find the newest addition! A close friend of mine recommended this place. Coming from providence, the way to Potter League is an easy and simple drive. We arrived at a nice building that was clean and welcoming. Entering the building we were able to find the adoptable cats right away even if we didn't the front desk woman was friendly. (I'm sorry I can't remember her name). The cats were living in either an open room with places to run, jump, and hide or a small box like container. Similar to something you'll find at pet smart or petco for their adoptable cats. From view, it looked very clean and the cats seemed well fed. Overall, it was a nice experience. We looked around and there were a couple of volunteer staff members either helping the cats or making sure we were okay. I appreciated that. That's something that you don't find at any other shelter. The reason for only a 4 and not a 5 Star review is because of one person who helped us. To meet the cats we had to fill out some paperwork and the woman at the front desk advised us to wait for Lisa. Lisa arrived and we stated that we would like to meet one of the cats. She seemed reluctant, like she didn't want to and raised an eyebrow at us. Us being friendly, we tried making jokes and tried being friendly but were immediately met with an attitude. We entered the room with the cat and she didn't leave us with the cat alone. Poor cat was frightened. She wasn't able to provide any information about the cat, it's origins or even its sex. She stated it was a male but was actually a female. Returning to the front desk, we fell in love with Buffy. We asked to see her. Lisa was going to let us in but then the front desk representative let us in instead. She provided us info on the cat and that she's timid but the way to her heart were her toys. I loved that little detail. As we were playing and petting Buffy we noticed Lisa assist another person looking to adopt. Her demeanor towards them was far nicer than us. To me that's discrimination, is it because I'm brown? Or that we're dressed casually? I think we deserved to be treated like any other person there. We left Potter League with Buffy and she's getting pretty comfy at home. With the tips and tricks provided by the woman at the front desk, it allowed us to move her in without a problem. I will be returning to Potter League in the future for my adopting needs. Hopefully Lisa won't be there.

I adopted my first cat, on my own, here about a year ago. It is very clean, and organized. I was amazed as I walked through the shelter to see private rooms for the cats with large windows looking outside, toys, and cat trees, and a little shop right in the lobby area. The cat I adopted had a sign saying behavior on the window. I met with staff who explained my cat was very shy and was fostered to socialize more. The shelter kept in contact with me and checked up on my cat for a bit as she became more acclimated to my house. She is the sweetest cat, and the shelter was very kind and patient.

The injury to my 8 year old boy was very mild and did not break skin because the dog stopped his attack without intervention. This was the first time the dog had ever attacked anyone in the family. We sought out Julia Langley/McCarty at Island Canine Academy for training. She was aware of the attack and that we have 3 young children and guaranteed she could help us. She said her services were guaranteed or we would not have felt comfortable paying the huge amount of $2000 for 2 weeks of dog training. The dog was at Julia's facility from 1/10/25 to 1/24/2025. The dog did learn the commands as Julia had stated. However, on the morning of 2/6/2025, the dog mauled my 6 year old girl triggered snacks the 4 year old girl had brought. My husband was in the room and screamed the dog's name to get his attention. The dog ignored him and mauled my 6 year old girl until my husband could get to the dog. My 6 year old girl required stitches in the ED. We called animal control who told us the dog needed a 10 day quarantine and had no resources. My husband called Julia who offered no assistance. would not offer to board dog for quarantine. We paid $800 to board him at an animal hospital who carried out the euthanasia. I requested a 50% off refund from Julia due to the fact her training was guaranteed and we experienced an even worse attack after her training. Julia says the dog learned his commands so her training was successful. How can she say her training was successful when the dog had mauled my daughter only two weeks after training and we had been using the commands? She is now threatening to sue me because I told her I would file a BBB complaint and write truthful reviews on her business since she would not do a half refund.

While completely lovable, he was out of control when he first came to our house. While playing in the back yard, he nearly bit my BFF because he was so excited about running around and playing. I had taken another, far more docile dog to K9 Instincts for boarding for many years. Matt & his staff were exceptionally kind and caring to Rachel. I knew they also did training so I decided to call and have Axle evaluated. Axle went for a 3 week "boot camp" and it was completely worth the time and expense. Even though it's "shock collar" training, it completely transformed his behavior. After the first three or four months, we began to use the collar periodically in situations where we knew he may have some problems (he was rescued from a fighting dog situation, so he still struggles with other dogs). It's now really a pleasure to be out and about with Axle. While talking, Matt mentioned that I would probably enjoy Axle much more with training. He was completely right. I no longer have anxiety that Axle will be out of control and a threat to others.

I thought Brittany was very rude, condescending and acted like my dog had the worst behaviors of any dog. She is not aggressive and does not behave badly; she is just very vocal and reactive to other dogs when on leash. When I went back to pick her up, I noticed a big difference in her and was not happy about that. I feel like I got a very timid dog back and it took us about a year to get her back to her old self. Does she come when called and stay when I put her in a down and stay, sure, but she is still very vocal and still reactive to other dogs when on leash. So basically, they did not fix the issue that I brought her in for. The training is definitely not worth the money paid. I would not recommend this facility for training. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere that you can get trained with your dog.

We lived in RI last year, and he LOVED, LOVED, LOVED going to Ruff Life 2x a week for daycare. SNE/Middletown has perhaps the cleanest yard of any plumbing supply house I've seen. Varying sizes of PVC pipe are neatly stacked and organized. It's also located on scenic Oliphant Lane, next to an animal shelter. In addition to the service counter for professionals in the plumbing and heating trades, they have a showroom where homeowners, contractors, designers and remodelers can browse plumbing fixtures. The section of the building where the service counter is located has an unusual layout. It is basically a small, open area, with no enclosed offices. Rather, employees' desks are out in the open, near the service counter. It's also somewhat dark in there, compared to the typical plumbing supply house. I've had no issues with service here, though, and they've always had what I needed to complete a job.
