Great group of caring animal lovers who never say no to an animal regardless of the medical costs.

We fell in love with two kittens and contacted Heidi right away and she was very receptive to every text all day.

RE: Acushnet Pet Cemetary OWNED BY THE HUMANE SOCIETY IN DARTMOUTH.....poorly maintained pet…read morecemetary, trees have been down on the ground for years, grass when cut is done half assed, markers are missing or the ones that are there are all broken, etc... since the early 1900's people have paid fees, yearly, to have their pets burial plots maintained, to keep this place up but it is just a scam that they have sold off portions of this property for thier dartmouth operations and expect the cemetary patrons to just deal with it....back in the day good people would donate land and cash to worthwhile orginizations and that is what was done here but let me tell you in my opinion...these people are hiding behind thier lawyers and administrators & this just takes the cake. look up their 'nonprofit' records on line & see how much $$$ they make yearly & they can't maintaiin that place better????? Their numbers for putting dogs down or 'transfering' them to kill shelters only justifies that they are making money with these dogs & it is just a tax write off for them. these are the original New Bedford Animal Rescue League board members & employees and all they did was change their name to a 'Humane Society' to make more money with donations & that is supposed to make it okay......truth be told this is a poor excuse for a rescue organization, i encourage you to post your concerns & opinions accordingly because we do have the right to free speech in this country. I love the front staff of the animal hospital. They're always friendly. All the vet techs have been…read morewonderful too. I loved our original vet up until the pandemic when we had a situation that felt very abrasive and rude, and I think about it often. After that we switched and will use two other vets from here and I've been super happy again. It is always an expensive visit, but I know my dog is cared for when there.

Unfortunately this experience will stay with me the rest of my life. Yes my cat was 17 years old…read more Yes I understand he wasn't a patient at this vet. This was on a Saturday. His vet was closed. I also have a very delicate/difficult situation where I'm unable to travel. Time wasnt on his side. Time is precious and every second counts during an emergency situation. The Capeway was open and and I'll never understand getting turned down when I first called in a panic with an emergency situation. An emergency is urgent. Even if they went fully equipped for the whole situation why couldn't have they said yes bring him in right away? Maybe he would have had a shot to live. Maybe he could have been stabilized as i was getting in contact with someone who could have then drove him to the emergency hospital. Now here I was wasting time calling other places. In a panic my mom called my aunt and asked for help after I did. She called this place as she googled who was open. So after about 15 minutes wasted they said yes bring him in when my aunt called. Why couldn't it have been yes right away? Are all vets like this? Is this the system? Why can't vets take emergency situations? Especially in my situation where i told them i was unable to get to the emergency hospital. How can someone in this field turn down the opportunity to save a life? Just a lot of unfortunate situations in this world. I wasn't expecting to bring him in for free. Ready to pay, you beg and this is how the world works? At the end of the day at least I know what illness he had and why he died. I'm honestly am having a hard time putting everything into words and how I feel. I'm sure as people read this it may get misunderstood and that's okay. In my world this is unacceptable and pets and their owners deserve better, at least in my world. Sammy did have an appointment with his vet on Tuesday, but unfortunately he passed on Saturday here. The bottom line is my cat is breathing out of his mouth can you please take him in? Answer was no. Wasted time then said yes. Unacceptable! I really really wished the answer was yes right away, then whatever happened then at least I would of had more of a peace of mind. I would have felt that they tried. That's all I wanted.
