Nick at the park
Jen M.

Had a fantastic visit at the Potso Dog Park today with the hubs and my Frenchton, Nick. The park is separated into two sections: one for smaller dogs and another for larger dogs. We took Nick to the smaller area, so that's the only side I can speak for, but for his very first visit to a dog park, he had a blast! I love that the park is setup with a double gating system to try to avoid any potential escapees. So basically, you open the first gate to exit into a small pen area, then after making sure there are no loose runaways in there with you, next you open the final gate to exit to the parking lot (which is located conveniently right next to the park). Very smart and well thought out. All of the dog owners were extremely friendly and conscientious. I didn't notice any dogs doing their business where the owner wasn't following right behind them to bag it and throw it away. There are multiple water stations surrounding the enclosed play area where your pup can have a drink at his or her leisure, and plenty of water available for refills. Nick had so much fun running around and playing with his new found buddies (both canine and human), and even met another Frenchton just like him named Roxie which was super exciting. I think there might have been a Pug Facebook Group meetup or something today, because there were pugs galore! But they were super cute to watch. And there were absolutely no aggressive dogs in the play area that we had to contend with. Plus, as an added bonus, Nick was totally beat afterward and splatted for the rest of the afternoon, so we definitely got out all that pent-up puppy energy. Overall, 5 out of 5 experience and we will definitely be returning.

Great dog park. Double gated entrances. Big and small dog area. Covered seated area for humans (and dogs). Water spigot to fill up dog pools or wash your muddy dog off. Trash cans around the park to toss your dog's poop into. It's near Costco so you can pick up a hotdog afterwards

Great dog park! Lots of small dogs in the small dog section with plentiful grass and not too muddy! Ample parking and easy access to interstate 5 in either direction!! Dogs are friendly and this facility is kept clean and neat during the spring and summer!

Fairly large fenced area and not overly muddy when it has rained. Close to the highway if you are traveling. Decent sized parking lot.

I just started bringing my pup here. It's nice in the sense that it's big and fenced in, and water is plentiful. I also like that there are a lot of sitting areas, some covered, some not, and less of the helicopter owners. I think it's really important to know that this is social hour for the dogs...let them play with each other without us interfering all the time. The only negative is that it seems like some owners still aren't picking up their dogs business even when potty bags are provided...come on peeps, be better. Aside from that, my dog has had nothing but a good time here and we will keep going back.

Decent dog park. Nice and large. Our Samantha really enjoys playing there. I think it could use some more trees, but otherwise nice location.

This is a nice dog park. Been here too many times to count. We always stay at least 2-3 hours each time. City of Tigard completes purchase of Potso Dog Park, 31 Mar 2011: http://www.tigard-or.gov/news/11-03-31_potso_dog_park_purchase.asp http://www.tigard-or.gov/community/parks/potso_dog_park.asp NOTE: Do not let your dog off leash outside the fenced sections. First, you can get ticketed. Second, a small dog was snatched by a coyote at 4pm a couple years back. I do not think there is a 'den' nearby right now, but it is a natural area and could again. Just be responsible. The parking lot is not designed to see dogs running under car tires. Trash cans are inside the small dog section, there is a picnic table, plastic chairs, a covered area to sit when it rains. After the time changes in Nov 2010 it is only open on weekends. As of 13 March 2011 the dog park should be open again during the evenings? Water turned off in winter due to freezing. People bring their own water during winter. The two single gates I saw (one in little section to big section, one in big section to road) have some good gaps in them. However, they are somewhat modified to keep from escapees doing their thing. I am starting to think I should bring some "swing set chain" for dog parks that need areas "laced up". I already bring a bunch of other stuff to fix stuff...and this might be another thing, at least for my home base parks that I go back to. My wish for this dog park? When dog fights break out that dog owners keep their voices down while they work through it (raised voices is usually coming from bystanders, not by the owners of the dogs who are in the middle of a fight). Raised voices only work against the situation by riling up the dogs. That tends to happen at some dog parks....but, tell them to keep it down so they can work it out. This is not my absolute favorite dog park, but it covers most all the things I absolutely require for my dog. P.S. I moved out of the area in October 2011. I can't comment on things after this.

Hours now posted as dawn to dusk. Clean porta-potty in the parking lot of ~20 spaces. Big dog area large enough for humans to plausibly walk laps. Probably some mud in winter, but that's where we live.

I really like this doggy park! I think my Puggies do too! We typically only come on the first Saturday of the month for Pugs in the Park. I like the fact that it is split into a small dog and big dog section. Park is always 'clean' for a dog park.

Large open area is a big plus!

It was super muddy and reaked of dog urine (there are ways to lessen the smell naturally). I recommend dog parks in Beaverton!

Good size, lots of bags for poop, generally clean, we left when a few aggressive dogs showed up but that could be our bad luck.

I take suggestions from my dog park friends and got tables put in and a mud puddle that needed taken care of and got that taken care of and grass on tube and new sign and water and pools in summer. So I advocate for the dog park to make it a great place for dogs, and people been going to Hazelia dog park for a long time. My dog Lola has a great time playing fetch with her ball. I've picked up poo bags people left threw them away and pick up all the balls and put them back in bucket and fill water bowls for the dogs. Winter now I bring a pool for my dog Lola because she runs and gets hot with all her hair but I rinse out pool and take pool home with me everytime I leave the park since I purchased the pools from ace hardware. The only things that bug me about this park are the H.S students parking in round about by small dog park and they are fully capable able bodied students to walk to other parking lot but I have walking challenges yes there's handi cap but its a distance to walk. Why have a high school where students can't park there. The balls end up in pine tree and I have to fight with tree. I lost one of my balls in the pine tree it eats balls. Plus when the balls go over fence and then can't get them I physically cannot get over fence. People leaving poo bags on ground or on fence or on the trash can instead of throwing them away.

There were a few dogs who were a bit out of control but fortunately they left soon after I got there so it wasn't so bad. The people in the park were polite and friendly and it was nice to give my little guy some time to play with new dogs in a new town since we were visiting from Seattle. This park has a nice mix of wood chipped areas and cement which I liked. The cement sidewalks are always good to keep the nails trimmed. There are some shady places for those hot or rainy days for people and pets. I like that they had the covered area with benches so we could sit if we wanted. A lot of dog parks don't offer that. There are some obstacles and things for larger dogs to climb on. There was a good supply of bags available and water bowls. It's not a very large park at all but it is a good place for dogs to mix and play. I liked it and thought it was a good size to keep my eye on my little man. When I go back to visit friends I will bring my dog with me again and bring him here. He had a good time and it was nice. I have been here twice, once in the summer and once in the winter.

People stream in here at all hours thanks to the covered area for owners to take shelter from the sun or rain and a treeline for shade in the afternoon. It's clean, parking is plentiful and nearby, and there are lots of friendly dogs for mine to play with. There's also always plenty of water available with the convenient doggie drinking station. I am certainly impressed by the work the City of Tigard did and hope other nearby parks can follow suit.

We stayed pretty close by, so the water was really calm and beginner friendly. We didn't venture past the freeway underpass, we went to the right side from the boat launch. Some parts are so shallow you hit some rocks. This park also offers soccer fields and an updated inclusive family playground. Highly recommend coming here.
