An example of the dusty part of the enclosure - lots of shade.
A M.

This was my first visit to Hazeldale Dog Park with my puppy. We took the #88 bus to Hazeldale's back entrance (at the end of SW Prospect St) as the main entrance isn't safe for entry without a car - there's no side walk, no cross walk nearby, a small shoulder, and the speed limit is I think 45 on that stretch of Farmington. Anywho, the back entrance has a forked path that either leads you to the park or towards Farmington (which is odd since again there's no sidewalks). Once we figured out how to get into the park, I also thought at first there was no water for the dogs, but there is water available from a faucet outside the dog enclosures. So you have to leave your dog in order to refill the buckets/wader pool if the water's gross or out. The white plastic buckets for your dog to drink from are filled with scum at the bottom, so I'd recommend bringing your own water vs. using the buckets. I like that there's a wader pool in the big and small dog areas. I like that each enclosure: big, small, and mixed is quite large, offers a lot of shade, and has park benches. The shade doesn't allow grass to grow so there's a pretty substantial segment of each section that's just dirt, which creates muddy dogs, especially if they play in the wader. Therefore, the wader doesn't stay clean very long (it took just 15 minutes for the wader to be muddy again). So the shade comes with a bit of a trade off! You can hose down your dog afterwards at the faucet. I also appreciated that the fences separating the areas are quite high - maybe 8 ft?, so it's harder for the bigger dogs to jump the fence. My puppy had a lot of fun playing with a half a dozen other small dogs and being able to run around and not overheat due to the shade and the wader. So despite some negatives, I'm still reviewing Hazeldale fairly highly for a first trip.

Nice size park, water is available there, need to bring your own bowl. The only disappointing aspect is large dogs seem to come into the small dog area even with height/size restrictions posted on the gate. My only wish is that owners would respect the "small dog" area restrictions. Big dogs can hurt delicate small dogs. It's a persistent problem here!

Sniff time!

Very nice park. Newly re fenced. Not many dogs showed up while we were there. Parking lot is over 500 feet from the entrance.

The apartments on one side, no parking on the other. There was some parking a few blocks down and we started walking over, but I didn't want to have to cross a busy road, so we turned around and left.

What it has: One "all dog" section Pea gravel throughout Two double gated entrances Trash cans No attached parking 6-7 trees that are growing fast Nice, smoothed, cool, HUGE logs to sit on All very secure Worth noting: I did not see water (bring your own?) It's very clean with most needs taken care of. I'm happy to have a dog park in the area since Hondo is "not all that" (I tried 10-20 times since I lived right there). Speculation: I would imagine that in the winter this dog park would have Hondo regulars come here so they do not have to get wet, or they get locked out of Hondo so the grass doesn't get ruined. I would imagine that the City of Hillsboro learned a few things from the other dog park so hopefully this one doesn't have a laundry list of issues. One can hope. My photos were taken on a Saturday afternoon in summer at 1pm in 75-77 degree temperatures and should speak for themselves.

I take suggestions from my dog park friends and got tables put in and a mud puddle that needed taken care of and got that taken care of and grass on tube and new sign and water and pools in summer. So I advocate for the dog park to make it a great place for dogs, and people been going to Hazelia dog park for a long time. My dog Lola has a great time playing fetch with her ball. I've picked up poo bags people left threw them away and pick up all the balls and put them back in bucket and fill water bowls for the dogs. Winter now I bring a pool for my dog Lola because she runs and gets hot with all her hair but I rinse out pool and take pool home with me everytime I leave the park since I purchased the pools from ace hardware. The only things that bug me about this park are the H.S students parking in round about by small dog park and they are fully capable able bodied students to walk to other parking lot but I have walking challenges yes there's handi cap but its a distance to walk. Why have a high school where students can't park there. The balls end up in pine tree and I have to fight with tree. I lost one of my balls in the pine tree it eats balls. Plus when the balls go over fence and then can't get them I physically cannot get over fence. People leaving poo bags on ground or on fence or on the trash can instead of throwing them away.

Awesome dog park in lake Oswego . That should say it all lake Oswego is a very posh arearead more
