What it has: One "all dog" section Pea gravel throughout Two double gated entrances Trash cans No attached parking 6-7 trees that are growing fast Nice, smoothed, cool, HUGE logs to sit on All very secure Worth noting: I did not see water (bring your own?) It's very clean with most needs taken care of. I'm happy to have a dog park in the area since Hondo is "not all that" (I tried 10-20 times since I lived right there). Speculation: I would imagine that in the winter this dog park would have Hondo regulars come here so they do not have to get wet, or they get locked out of Hondo so the grass doesn't get ruined. I would imagine that the City of Hillsboro learned a few things from the other dog park so hopefully this one doesn't have a laundry list of issues. One can hope. My photos were taken on a Saturday afternoon in summer at 1pm in 75-77 degree temperatures and should speak for themselves.

Hondo is one of the better dog parks in Hillsboro, however there are rules, and they should be followed. For example: 1) This is a DOG park, not a people park, this will be clarified... 2) No food or drink (people or puppy) is to enter the park. This will prevent dogs from jumping on you. 3) Children (strollers etc) are not allowed. Nobody wants a dog to knock a stroller over (I have seen it happen). 4) When entering and exiting dog park, please allow dogs (and owners) to completely enter/exit and totally lock area before continuing. These are very basic rules but following them makes a good dog park even better.

But the owners must watch their dogs and pick up after them!! We stick to the small dog side mainly as the owners there seemed more friendly and watchful. I do appreciate that there is an agility course side too, for those active dogs who need a little more action. Just go during times outside of busy hours.

I take suggestions from my dog park friends and got tables put in and a mud puddle that needed taken care of and got that taken care of and grass on tube and new sign and water and pools in summer. So I advocate for the dog park to make it a great place for dogs, and people been going to Hazelia dog park for a long time. My dog Lola has a great time playing fetch with her ball. I've picked up poo bags people left threw them away and pick up all the balls and put them back in bucket and fill water bowls for the dogs. Winter now I bring a pool for my dog Lola because she runs and gets hot with all her hair but I rinse out pool and take pool home with me everytime I leave the park since I purchased the pools from ace hardware. The only things that bug me about this park are the H.S students parking in round about by small dog park and they are fully capable able bodied students to walk to other parking lot but I have walking challenges yes there's handi cap but its a distance to walk. Why have a high school where students can't park there. The balls end up in pine tree and I have to fight with tree. I lost one of my balls in the pine tree it eats balls. Plus when the balls go over fence and then can't get them I physically cannot get over fence. People leaving poo bags on ground or on fence or on the trash can instead of throwing them away.

The people in the park were polite and friendly and it was nice to give my little guy some time to play with new dogs in a new town since we were visiting from Seattle. This park has a nice mix of wood chipped areas and cement which I liked. The cement sidewalks are always good to keep the nails trimmed. There are some shady places for those hot or rainy days for people and pets. I like that they had the covered area with benches so we could sit if we wanted. A lot of dog parks don't offer that. There are some obstacles and things for larger dogs to climb on. There was a good supply of bags available and water bowls. It's not a very large park at all but it is a good place for dogs to mix and play. I liked it and thought it was a good size to keep my eye on my little man. When I go back to visit friends I will bring my dog with me again and bring him here. He had a good time and it was nice. I have been here twice, once in the summer and once in the winter.

People stream in here at all hours thanks to the covered area for owners to take shelter from the sun or rain and a treeline for shade in the afternoon. I am certainly impressed by the work the City of Tigard did and hope other nearby parks can follow suit.

The trail is listed as beginner friendly, but if you struggle with inclines or you're not very active, be prepared for a bit of a challenge. We completed the full 3 miles, and the views were absolutely worth it! I definitely struggled near the end because I'm athletically challenged. I'm so glad I did! What struck me first and most about this park was how clean and well maintained it is. They have a delightful sand box with water feature that, I'm sure, will keep the kids busy all day. They also have a very unique and creative rope contraption to climb on (I don't know what the cool kids call it). And there's a skate park, basketball court, baseball diamond, and tennis court to keep everyone happy. We were there on Friday night and the tennis court was filled with folks playing Pickle Ball. So cool to see so many people outside and active on a beautiful summer evening. Finally, there's a wide, well maintained walking path along the river that is delightful. It's so awesome to find a public place like this. We all need more of this!

The paved paths aren't long, but wander around the school fields and the park, turning into a raised plastic-ish walking surface. That surface was funny, it's filled with holes and as you walk if the ground underneath is wet enough it squirts up your legs with each step. Slightly entertaining ...yet slightly annoying as I ended up a tad messy. No biggie though, winding paths and trails are always greatly appreciated. The parking lot is small but there's some street parking nearby too.

There are trees to climb and stumps but not a lot for elementary aged kids. And the parking. Forget it. There are maybe 8 spaces. And the Southridge tennis team was there practicing so it made parking a challenge. I would not recommend it aside from the fact that it's shaded. That is the big plus. But both my elementary aged kids (6 and 8) found it a bit boring and for little ones.
