This is one of the larger parks in the area, with lots to see and do. There is a trail that takes you through beautiful wetlands with several benches along the way, making it easy to take a break or just sit and take in the scenery. One part of the trail ends by a middle school, the other by a parking lot. There's also two fenced off dog park areas, a large playground and a skate park area. There are plenty of children at the playground when I've visited on Sunday afternoons. In addition to a jungle gym, there's a xylophone and drums. There are at least two restroom buildings and both are well maintained. Overall, I feel this is one of the better parks in the are. It's great for walks because there's a lot to see. read more

This park is really accessible for younger parents. It's really large so you can go on walks and the playground is fantastic.

Wow, pretty incredible park! They've got a ton of pavilions and picnic tables for gatherings, a really fun splash pad, a paved three-quarter pathway around the park exterior, various sports field including volleyball/tennis/basketball/horseshoe, THREE fenced dog parks for big dogs and small dogs and both, new play structures, and acres of wetlands with a boardwalk path. Only feedback to make it better: 1. Currently they're doing construction on the sports field, so there's large empty dirt patches between areas of the park. 2. The boardwalks over the wetlands could use a map. I got a little lost! read more

Beautiful and clean park with many amenities, including two playgrounds, restrooms, tennis courts, a ping pong table, and a covered eating area for hosting birthdays or events. There's also a dog park with separate areas for small-medium and large dogs for space and safety. Lots of different things going on at this park early on a Saturday morning. Yoga in the gazebo Soccer in the field A family playing in the skate pipes People jogging through My kid headed for the play structure, which had varying levels of difficulty, a nice touch. When she has to use the bathroom, we found it and it was relatively clean. Good to go! Thanks Happy Valley for the nice park. read more

Pretty decent community park with three dog park areas for big dogs, small dogs, and all dogs. Always nice to let the dog go run and play with other dogs. It's friendly community and great way to burn away all their energy. Also as with most dog parks, expect some dogs to be more aggressive than others. Dog socializing is amusing read more

Nice little park. Has lots of activity options. From tennis to basketball... soccer and baseball fields.... has a park for the kids and a nature walk. In the summer they have a splash pad area. This is an excellent park that's well kept and has wonderful amenities! It's a shame it's such a drive from portland - but we'll worth it! Neat.. :) Very awesome, as well as very inspiring too. I like it. Now, I have been to Happy Valley Park before, and I must say, I cannot find any more good and positive things to say about it. Basically, for one thing, there are all these ducks; they are so beautiful! Then, there is the labyrinth of railings. There are two paths, and they both have nice seats for people to sit on when they get tired of walking and want to rest their feet. (Personally, I think that is awesome.) Also, there is the fact that it means you get close to nature, and as someone who loves nature, that is something I take a liking to. Finally, I give Happy Valley Park two thumbs up, as well as five stars (although ten stars would be even better), and I highly recommend it for anyone who likes nature and taking nature photos, too. :) read more

Our two dogs love going here. We park in the small lot east of the nature park on 145th and take the boardwalk in. We have a less chance of running into small children startling the boys and it's just more quiet and relaxing strolling through this way. There are three fenced areas designated by dog size. Two of the them are grass and dirt terrain and the third is filled mostly with bark chips. The gates are double gated to prevent dogs from accidentally escaping. Enter one, lock it behind you, and enter the second to access the dog park, and vice versa. Each of them contain a covered area to seat 4-5 people. In the bark chips section there is a drinking fountain with a bottom fountain bowl just for dogs to drink from. I appreciate the bag dispensers always being stocked whenever we go, too. The other dog owners, for the most part, are good at controlling their dogs when the chasing and biting get too aggressive. We enjoy watching our dachshunds interact and explore while admiring and getting to know the other dogs through their owners. Our guys like the added attention they receive from the other owners, too. read more

Nice big park with dog areas, hiking trails and a big playground. There is not that much parking, so if it's a busy day, it may be tough finding a spot to park read more

I love this park, it has a skate area for the kids, soccer, baseball fields, ring toss, play areas and swings for the little ones, built in patio type walk ways that go into the woody areas as well as regular dirt trails, gazebos, bbqs, picnic tables, and a sand floor volleyball net not to mention the tons of grassy areas to just plop your blanket and just enjoy the day lounging! All these amenities and more and I'm probably forgetting something but what i come here for is the fabulous 3 gated in dog pens! Yes! They have 3 large enough to run your dog ragged with other dogs sized pens! Its broken down like this, the wood chipped pen is for the little pups like my Philip Fry and Oso which are pom yorkies (adorable). They also have a pen for the larger kids, 60lbs and up like my German shepard Cosmo (?Breed unknown still?). The 3rd pen is for the mixed weight cuties that get along with everyone! They also have plenty of doggies bags supplied around the park to pick up their messes and inside each pen they have water fountains for the dogs. I love this park but what i don't love is the parking. Could use more since this is a pretty busy park during certain times and days but otherwise its great! read more

My friend picked me up to try this park which I've never heard of nor had ever been to. It was a beautiful sunny summer day and I was so surprised that the walking trail is all a boardwalk. I didn't have to walk through uneven areas which is great as I have arthritis in my foot. There are quite a few places to sit like benches or an area for many to take a rest and just admire the sounds and the views of the park. There is something for everyone: Baseball/Softball, Shelter, Playground, Picnic Facilities, Parking, Restrooms, All Abilities Play Area, Basketball, Soccer, Skateboard, Splash Pad, Tennis, Events, Dog Park, Walking Trails read more

My favorite dog park! The paths to get back into the park are all absolutely gorgeous, and the park itself is well-maintained. There are separate areas for dogs of different sizes, as well as a large common area. Each section is double-gated, so you won't be bombarded by eager pups as you enter. In my opinion, a dog park is as good as the dog lovers who frequent it... Happy Valley dog park always has the most friendly and attentive puppy owners who are diligent about making sure their dogs are having fun and minding their manners. We will definitely be back! read more

I am glad I waited for visit two to write this review. In order to reach the dog park, you must either drive to the back of the park (follow the road) or you park in one of the front parking areas and walk. The first trip we had here was on the weekend and it was cloudy and we saw 1 other dog. We went on a weekday, and the entire park was full of families (soccer practice/playground) and a lot of dogs were playing. Not that this is a problem, however I like space to let me dog run and play and not be bombarded with alot of other dogs. There is a hike/bike trail pretty much around the entire park. There are multiple trashcans and poo bags stations. There are a few bathrooms (clean). The dog areas are a decent size (just not for the large neighborhood). There is one for small dogs and the other for larger dogs. A few benches and chairs to watch your dog play in each area. Each area has one sep. entry and double gates to avoid your dog running away. They both have grass/mulch and are clean. The 4 stars are for the lovely park itself. There are play areas for the family, a water play area when it is nice out, horseshoe stations, and multiple play fields. Even if the dog area is not HUGE, it is nice, clean, and big enough for him to play a little bit and then we take him for a nice walk around the park. If this is something your dog likes to do, I would check this place out. read more

So many great things I can say about this park, and I suppose it is because it is dear to my heart. I grew up in Happy Valley. I played soccer at this park. My dad taught me how to play tennis on the courts here. In sixth grade, our teacher took us to plant small trees in the wetlands here, and now they have grown into big trees! It is a clean and happy park, which fits the location! While walking around, you can see kids playing sports, dogs running around in the dog park or skate boarders doing tricks in the new skate park. My personal favorite place is the wetlands area, but you have to look a little harder to find this secret spot. There are a series of long boardwalks and it almost seems dreamlike, especially on a foggy day. You will eventually reach a pond where you can observe ducks and maybe even ducklings. There are many other organisms living around these peaceful waters. Take the time to be silent and listen. You will be surprised with what you hear. The park has plenty of parking spots, water fountains and bathrooms, and is a great place to spend the day! read more

This park is really great! They have a skate park, soccer and baseball fields, basketball and tennis courts, a few volleyball nets and a handful of covered areas for get togethers and bbqs. There's a walking track around the park for nice, leisure strolls or jogging. We go for the dog park. They have a park for small dogs and another for large dogs. We use the large dog park. It's fenced in and double gated. It's mostly bark chips and dirt with some sparse grassy areas for the dogs to do their business. There are some round iron benches structured around trees and a small covered, gazebo type area for the people to sit and watch their furry friends play. What really stands out about this dog park are the dog owners. Everyone is friendly and they seem to have fairly well behaved pets. We've yet to encounter any aggressive dogs or neglectful owners. Other dog parks are nice too but there always seems to be the one dog running around that should not be off leash because of behavioral issues. I'm glad this is our girl's new playground! read more

First and foremost this is a very big park. It looks like it has a really nice field and it's big and great for kids to run around. The splash pad leaves a lot to be desired. It's actually pretty small for the amount of people that were there when we tried to go. It was one of those days where we wanted to explore what outside of Portland had to offer in terms of playgrounds. We trusted the reviews on here so we decided to choose this playground to check out. If you live in Portland and have access to the loads of splash pads and public mountains we have then I wouldn't even go out here. It's just way too crowded on the weekends with birthday parties that looks fun and happy and all but again just kinda iffy when it comes to the features compared to the amount of people there. The only upside is that it looks like a more diverse park then the parks here in inner SE Portland. If only it wasn't so crowded we would have tried to stay. So the complaint isn't necessarily that so many people like the park...but that certain features aren't equipped for the crowds at the park. read more

My dog and I loved visiting this park! The river walk is beautiful and seemed to go on forever. It was like our own personal labyrinth through a clean and green space. After that, we walked over to the off-leash dog areas and had a blast! The spaces are well-maintained and my mostly-white dog managed to stay pretty clean in damp weather thanks to a healthy spreading of bark chips on the ground. Will definitely be back when the weather warms up! read more

Honestly I wish this was able to be a 5 star rating. The park itself is huge and a great time for family and functions! The tennis courts are nice along with the basketball courts. The trails are great for a walk or jog through and you can see a lot of different areas just by following the trail. The play structures are great for the kids. The dog park is a great concept of having 3 areas. Two large dog areas and a small dog area. The only downside to this whole park is the lack of maintenance. Outside of Summer this whole place turns into a mud bath. During summer this becomes a dust bowl. The grass is not thick enough to maintain the dog traffic here. The people are generally nice and most dogs are friendly. This has still been the only park my dog has been attacked at, multiple times and the owners of the attacking dog don't seem to care. I like to stop by every so often to see how it is these days, it's continuing to be worn down. Bring a towel or blanket for your car, it's going to be dirty read more

This park has it all! Playgrounds for all ages, dog park, nature trails, and a splash pad! Love this park!

Very nice and relaxing park full of nice peeps. I love how they divide the dog park into two or even three sections for the dogs to play in. Love that it's gated. My dog loved it there so much. We went on a morning where there were not much "big dogs" for her to play with but ton of little ones, but due to the size of the breed she is, we didn't feel comfortable putting her in the gate to play with the little ones, so that was kind of sad. We waited for a bit then their were bigger dogs for her to play with. We love it here and definitely would come back:) read more

Happy Valley Park - Playing with new buddies! - Dog Parks Near Me - Happy Valley, Oregon

There are two fenced areas at the south end of the park, with parking nearby. Both have trees and grass inside the fences. There are garbage pails and poop bags provided, and water is available outside of the fenced area. There weren't a lot of people using the areas when we went, Sunday afternoon, but there are a lot of people out walking their dogs. There are leash laws outside of the fenced areas, but it seems they are "suggestions," rather than actually a "law." This park is less muddy than North Clackamas, and certainly better maintained and less poops, but it doesn't get 5 stars and North Clackamas does because Happy Valley is missing a few vital things. The areas don't seem quite big enough, and it's nice there are two, but it would have been better to make one big area. Maybe they keep one area for small dogs. They aren't marked for use. There are not double entry gates into the fenced areas so its very easy for dogs inside the fence to get out. The fence isn't close to the ground in some places and Oola was easily able to duck under and head out. This makes the area less safe for smaller dogs. The park is beautiful! There is a huge play structure for kids, nice bathrooms, a gazebo area, soccer and baseball fields, walking trails, parking...it's very nice. There are areas that can be reserved for picnics and barbeques. I'm thinking it could be used for a great YELP barbeque at some point! If people aren't horrified by the suburbia of Happy Valley, that is. After coming here for months, it gets five stars. This place is fantastic, has wonderful people and dogs, and we've become part of the dog community. read more

Wow, what a GREAT first experience for my husky puppy. Our first time at a dog park here in Oregon and I wanted to find one with a fence to be safe. Loved the separation for the various sizes, and the areas are so big and open. The double gated entrance works perfectly to make sure no dogs escape, and no key necessary. The most populated section was filled with super welcoming and approachable dog lovers who were talkative and understanding and helped separate dogs if any got too rough. Amazing park with amazing people. I was so pleased to find this place. We will definitely be back often!! read more

Nothing makes our dog happier than an hour at the dog park. The rest of the day he's calm, serene and thankful. Normandale is where we usually go, but I much prefer Happy Valley Dog Park-there is a cool, if kind of dirty stream, little bridge, barbecue areas and the rest of the park is larger and very people friendly. It's not on a busy street like other dog parks, it's in a much more suburban area, and they provide baggies. There was also less mud. The dog owners were nice and our dog loved it. My only complaint is that the gate could use a bit more upkeep as a very small dog could squeeze out, and a second gate to discourage escape artists would be nice. Either way, we'll be back, surely not as soon as our little Brodie hopes for. read more

Our favorite neighborhood park!! We love living in the Happy Valley area. This park is always clean when we come, never any creepy people around or drug dealers, gangs, etc. We always feel safe in these neck of the woods. The play structure is pretty nice for the kids. It's always packed when we come, especially in the summer days. I just wish they had more baby swings than the two that are already there. They usually are taken but people are really good about keeping the swing trip short if someone is waiting. The coolest thing about the park is the nature trail that's in the inside of the park. It's a trail that leads to a lake that has the cutest mallards. Parking towards the play structure are tends to fill up fast too on the weekends. I'd try to go a little earlier in the day if you can. Every 4th of July there is a parade on the street right in front of the park. The park has tons of activities going on and a good amount of food vendors that show up. There is two volleyball pits, a skate park, tennis courts, basketball court soccer field, baseball field, dog park, creek, bridges and so much more. Great area! read more

Bruno will not be returning! First off, this is just way too out in the stix. I tried to find this park once before and got totally lost. The dog park section is way in the back of the main park, making it so you have to walk through the whole park to get to it. *Not so easy when you have a very strong, hyper, not kid friendly dog. Once there I stood at the gate for 2 minutes trying to figure out how to open it. It's seemed more suburb, family friendly than I like. I take issue with children in the dog park. Unless they are old enough (8 and up) or very well behaved and taught to leave the doggies alone. Nothing will burn my ass more than seeing a mother letting her 3 year old trying to pet the pups without asking. If you bring a toddler in, please carry them. There were multiple piles of poo! I almost stepped in it twice. Last, but not least, there is a small section of grass, but the rest of the ground was solid, uneven, hard packed dirt. I can just see Bruno snapping a leg or twisting his ankle. It could definitely use some bark dust or mulch. If i lived in the immediate neighborhood, I would probably visit again, just for the convenience of it. However, it's not worth traveling out of the way for. read more

I read on the website "only in your state" that the 'less than a mile' Wetland Trail was 'mesmerizing' so we went out of our way to check it out. Um. No. Going into the park with these inspiring words had me a bit biased I admit, high expectations.... Dashed. Mesmerising? Definitely not. Hiking boots certainly not necessary. It is an awesome boardwalk for sure. Probably all the more impressive before the leaves fall. Nice pond with ducks, quack quack. Well maintained. Play area, not one, not two, but THREE (!!!) fenced in dog off leash areas. Bathrooms with stainless steel toilets remniscent of a prison (I'm guessing, I certainly don't know from personal experience). I'm guessing the parking area fills up fast on busy days. No pull through parking spots (a little annoying for bigger vehicles and certainly don't bring a trailer). But no, I wouldn't go out of your way to visit this park. There are so many awesome parks in Portland that going out of your way for this one certainly isn't necessary. Unless maybe you are looking for a wheelchair or stroller accessible park, cuz the boardwalk is fantastic for that. But mesmerising? Um, that's a definite NO. read more

I like the place EXCEPT for one thing, and in my opinion it's pretty major: the gate to enter the dog park is terrible. It's a single swinging chain-link fence 'door' that has a really flimsy latch on it. The 20 minutes I was there 4 out of 5 people didn't know how to open it or re-lock it. Most dog enclosures have a double gate to make sure that dogs don't escape but this place does not. In fact, when I was at the park yesterday somebody didn't correctly lock the gate and 5 dogs got out and ran EVERYWHERE (mine included) which is both scary and annoying. Luckily there were so many people around that all the dogs were caught within 15 minutes, but that gate really brings this place down... But otherwise the place is great! .. The enclosed dog park is surrounded by a playground, sports fields and a bbq area. A really fun place to spend a day outdoors. The dog area is like 100ft by 100ft covered in bark dust (don't quote me on that) which is small enough to monitor where your dog is but still large enough for any sized dog to get a good run. They really just need to fix that worthless gate. read more

Our dogs love this park, I particularly like that they have 3 different areas for the dogs. The trail is also nice.

I was looking for a great new place in which I could take my pups and let them run freely. This park has grown and is now two separate parks. The "small" dog park is always clean and has a great amount of space just for any size mellow dog. When you are done you can take the pups for a walk around the beautiful park area. read more

3 size areas for dogs, but the mixed dog area gate was LOCKED!!! Fenced dog areas were a little bit too small for our pack of 3!!! We have 2 smaller and 1 larger dog. With the mixed area closed, we had to separate our 3 pack!!! This did not work! It caused separation anxiety for two of our dogs, so we left shortly after! Some of the women in the "small" dog area were talking and acting rather "snooty", but didn't pick up after their little dog's poop!! You morons need to pick up your dogs poop!! DA!!! read more

We liked this dog park okay. Pros: Location was convenient All nice dogs and owners came while we were there Poop bags provided Dog water fountain Near parking & bathrooms but separated from playground Separate small dog area Cons: Small dog area is not nearly as nice as the large dog area (large dog area has a couple circle benches, grass, and several medium sized trees but the small dog area just has bark chips and a couple plastic chairs) No double gate - make sure you watch your dogs closely if they're prone to escape (my little guy doesn't venture far from me) read more

I've never seen such a nice set up for dog parks! Loved that they had several areas to choose from depending on what kind of dog you have.
