Lents Park is a nice enough neighborhood park. It's got the Pickles baseball stadium, a couple other baseball fields, soccer fields and goals, basketball and tennis courts, wall ball, big open fields, some picnic tables, and a community garden. There's a wood chip walking path that encompasses it all. It's not huge and the streets that surround it are pretty busy, so it doesn't really feel like you're out in nature. It's mostly flat so it doesn't have any scenic views. I wish people took better care of the park - I saw a number of dogs that weren't picked up after. There is a small parking lot along 92nd, otherwise it is street parking. Not sure about bathrooms, but there were portapotties. read more

This is a review for the Lents dog park. There's no real indicator of where the dog park actually is. There's a fenced community garden which takes most of the flat grassy area with some trees, and up the hill is a sports field. There were only a few other dogs in the "dog area". read more

My Dad grew up in this neighborhood, and so my family went there often when I was a child. It was also the place my classes in elementary school had end-of-year picnics. It is a beautiful property. The thing that stands out the most are the huge fir trees. Another standout is the baseball diamond and bleacher seating. There is also playground equipment, wading pools, picnic tables, a tennis court, and soccer fields. Lents Park has been extremely well cared for by the City of Portland and has to be a diamond in the crown of city parks. read more

Picnic areas, ball fields, soccer fields, basketball, outdoor stage, gardening... but the wide open spaces are really what set this park apart! Walker Stadium, one of the baseball fields at the park, has been updated. The Portland Pickles have arrived! The games are huge! I used to like Lents dog park but the last 3 time I've been there my dog found poo messes left out not picked up, and then rolled in all three times. I had to give here a bath every time. I am not going back its gross there. read more

I've only been to the park a couple times. This is mostly because I only have two reasons to seek out a park. One is for a casual walk amongst some greenery and two is to take my dog to an off-leash area. Lents Park is about 4 houses down the street, so I would love for it to cover those two needs, but it falls short on both accounts. The walking path basically follows the outside perimeter of the park. This stops you from escaping the sounds and smells of the cars zipping by at 35-40 mph. You might as well walk on the sidewalk and avoid the chance of a soccer ball strike. And the path rarely encounters any landscaping worth looking at. The off-leash area is almost useless. It seems to be a park planner's after thought, done with no budget There is no real marking as to where it starts or stops, has nothing to facilitate poop disposal and is not fenced in. The latter point being the most important to me. The off-leash area is located in the south-western most corner of the park. This means there is the real danger of a dog running out into the road and getting hit. When I take my dog to the park, I want to be able to let him run around, without worry, with a nice shady place to sit and watch my pooch exhaust himself. What Lents Park isn't, is a park. It's a sports complex. Like I said before, I would love for this to be the park of choice for my needs since it is so close. But, it is not. read more

This is a great park to walk my dog in... and it has a pretty awesome park for kids. There is a community garden there that I always wanted to check out... but then again I don't garden in my own backyard yet lol They have a designated dog area and I wish ppl would pick up their doggies poo and I wish they would fence that area off... because even though it's off-leash... it's right next to a few busy roads. I have a fast running Italian Greyhound.... I assume off leash is fenced... and we all know what it means to assume lol Overall it's a nice park and they keep it up well. There is a gazebo there that I would just love to direct midsummer nights dream in :) read more

Lents park has a Farmers market that feels very authentic if you know what I mean. There isn't a bunch of mass produced fair type stuff that you can't help but come across elsewhere and you get a view of the goats! I also like that it is right by the max station which makes getting there super easy. I had a fun day at the pro and enjoyed the sites and sounds of animals, a woman folk singer, and a rock band! All for just the price of getting there! read more

This park looks really pretty from distance - at ground level. If you want to keep that delusion going, don't look at the aerial photos of the park - or venture into it - if you can actually find a pathway or avoid being bored to death before you manage to get away. I suppose it's okay if you're really into sports or have a kid or a dog you need to tire out. Don't get me wrong - I love this park, but it really irks me that I live right by it and it really provides nothing for me to do. So, I guess what I love about it is the enormous potential. What I hate is that that potential is so latent that it's molding. This park needs a major make-over that adds visual interest, a useful path system, and actual places for people to walk, hang out and just be people. read more

This is my new neighborhood park. It isn't phenomenal or exceptionally beautiful but it is nice. It's first date nice...the one where afterwards you wonder if you're calling them again. That same one that makes you glad you didn't kiss them...or anything else. The .5 mile trail is a nice addition to the wundermutts stroll time. We have ample opportunity to stalk squirrels and watch the munchkins play soccer. We don't really do the off-leash thing here, cause my dog forgets her name when the squirrels are within chasing distance. Added perk...community garden, gazebo, playground, sports complex type stuff and a 2 minute walk to the farmers market. That, to me makes this park a-ok! read more

Perfect place for a casual stroll with a nice dog and lady/guy of your choice. Tennis courts are decent, nice basketball court w/ multiple hoops and often has full court games going you can jump in on, good sized playground equipment. Path inside park is really strange and not designed well. In order to run the park, you need to run the perimeter which defeats the purpose of going to run at the park d/t traffic, sidewalk activity...etc Park needs a redesign, overall, IMHO. read more

for gods sake get some walk ways! its VAST and green and covers lots of ground but damn, you gotta have your boots on for the whole trip..especially if you wanna walk through it. the play structure on the Se corner is dated and needs some serious repair and possibly pistol whipped with some sanitizer. but if its summer time and dry out, you could get lost in a giant green patch of earth and be just fine with it. read more

We love this park! It's huge. Lots of big beautiful trees,a community garden and my favorite is the Unfenced off leash dog area. It is never crowded, it's pretty clean, and lots of room for pooches to play,Easy parking. No water though. read more

This park is in a good spot, You can always just stop by and take a lil walk. The actual park is nice and on occasions you can meet friendly people. I come here a lot to just do what do you do at a park. FYI Raymond is the best park in SE Lents read more

One of Portland's finest parks, and a great place for whatever you want. A peaceful walk among the trees and shrubs? Go to the southeast corner. Like soccer? Two fields. Concerts? A few times a summer. It's got softball fields, a baseball stadium, basketball, tennis, horseshoes, wall ball - even an acre+ dog park and a community garden. Old growth trees add to the experience. This is a great park where lots of baseball games and parties go on regular basis. There is a slope which is nice for a stroll. There is a kids' playground, basketball court, tennis court. The access is easy and parking is usually not an issue. Overall, a good place to relax, have a picnic with family. read more

Sometimes I think this park has so much space that planners couldn't figure out what to do with it and just did nothing instead. I go here frequently with my kid. The playground area is extremely lacking, especially for the amount of space in the park. Most elementary schools have a better playground. There is a giant slab of recessed concrete adjacent to the picnic tables, which I could only guess used to be a summer water feature that has long since been abandoned, which is a damn shame. For the amount of people in the neighborhood, a summer water park would get a great amount of usage. I do really like the steps and low concrete wall surrounding the playground, and the giant firs looming over it. The area west of the playground with the community garden is alright to mill around in, if there are no dogs running around (since it's also an off leash section), but still pretty boring. The rest of the park is swarming with sports in the good weather, and completely open and flat in the bad weather. Imagine it's a great place for field sports, if you can squeeze in. Really wish they could give this park a little bit of a facelift, or at the very least toss a couple more features into the playground or the small unused field immediately next to it. Seems to me that all uses of Lents Park, other than sports, are of secondary import. It's so packed with sports fields etc. that anything else is jammed in around them. Want to walk in the park? ok, there's a path around this or that soccer field. etc. As it stands: and in all three of the new "concepts" the city has offered, Lents Park is really an outdoor community center. Good park if the dam neighborhood groups and city officials would stop trying to change it at every turn. the basketball courts get a little intense and should probably have more police driving by at peak hours. the dog walking area is cool. the community garden is neat to see. lots of soccer lots of baseball and several homeless.
