Instead of allowing candidates to consider multiple opportunities and discuss with the recruiter what would be a good fit for them and their goals, they have a tendency to act as though they are "using you" similar to a bad relationship. My last exposure to this company was with Teresa and it was positive at first, and the company I interviewed with actually wanted to hire me, but I knew it wasn't a fit. So then when I kept looking and reaching out, and Teresa ignored my emails because clearly I didn't take the job she needed to fill. That was unprofessional. P.S. I really dislike seeing companies try to give themselves a series of 5-star reviews, which the Yelp algorithm picks up as fake (because they are), and sieves them out to the "Not recommended reviews" tab at the bottom of the Yelp page.

A week later, he asked me to become available for an interview at a financial firm. Interview went well, but they went with someone else from within the company which was fine. It seemed like a good fit but even I didn't feel that it would work. Peter reached out to me to let me know the outcome, which was most appreciated. A week or so later I sent him an email expressing that I was ready for more opportunities (I had resigned from my job at the time and let him know that I was 100% free and ready to interview). I did not get any responses back at all to that email. I had also called twice to just to check in and I also didn't get any calls back either. And so my three star review is based on the rapport and good meeting I had with Peter. I was impressed and hopeful that he'd help me land a job. He also helped a good friend land a job quite fast which was nice of him and so I thought hmm maybe it would work for me too (both of us came from the same company with similar credentials). However, a response back to my email would have been appreciated. A call back, even. Too busy? Forward my email to another recruiter to get in touch with me. No opportunities? At least let me know by way of common courtesy.

I went months and months of applying endlessly, and the only interviews I seem to get were the ones where I had a connection (and I'm not particularly good with networking to begin with, so they were far and few). I searched for 'top recruiters in Boston' and let's just say they all disappointed. I won't mention them by name, but they wasted my time, gave me false hope and had little follow-through on their part, with no contact for months, and I would get pathetic, measly replies after hounding them. After being burnt several times by useless recruiting agencies (you know who you are), I decided that I will try the next one down the list, with no expectations whatsoever. I worked primarily with Dave, and he was so caring and kind, and I finally felt I had my own cheerleader in this dreadful job hunting process. Within a week, he had 3 interviews lined up for me. Within 2.5 weeks, from first contact, I started my new job! I would've started sooner if it weren't for the holidays. They really follow-through, and when they say they're looking for openings for you, they mean it! Before every interview, I had a call with Dave to prep me for what's to come. I didn't even ask for it -- he just did it! They went above and beyond, and they continue to keep in touch with me to make sure all is good in the new place. I met several former Manning candidates in this job and other places I interviewed, and they all have nothing but amazing things to say, and it's no surprise there. I know at this point I am sounding like I get commission for endorsements lol, but the truth is, I was in a difficult spot, mentally, financially, and I would want anyone else in a similar situation to find the same help that I did. Vocational rehabilitation, if you will. Save yourself the frustration, and start with them first.

Front desk person asked me to fill out an application and led me to Jen after. Jen was telling me that she has been working at John Leonard for almost 30 years holy moly! She was very professional, knew what she was doing, and sounded like she has a great relationship with their clients (employers). Asked me couple questions about my skills and experience, what I want to do in a long run. After the interview, she explained some of the jobs they have in the system and asked me if any of those spark my interest. Really liked this short term assignment in Cambridge, was places there a week after that interview! Went through many assignments with various employers through John Leonard so far, was a great experience to work with all those employers. John Leonard seems to have a good clientele of employers that would treat you well as long as you do your job!
