On my most recent visit this month there was a noticeable shift in food quality and service. Our server was new to the team so I give him grace as he ramps up his learning curve. Other issues came from the kitchen. I learned that the tea house is under new management so hopefully they can get up to speed. Issues included: 1)about 45 mins to get our tea. Scones arrived and were eaten before the first drop of tea arrived at our table. Despite being ordered at same time. 2)the orange chicken salad is now shredded instead of ground. It was the unique ground up texture that I loved. I really don't even like chicken salad lol but the old recipe was much better than the new. 3)the carrot salad was basically just carrots with a dollop of dressing in bottom of the cup. The carrots had no dressing on them at all. 4) sausage quiche went half eaten by those who ordered at our table. These may seem like small things but when coupled with multiple requests for water, tea, and waving down the waiter for service it made for a very frustrating visit at what was previously my favorite little restaurant in Columbus. Fortunately the atmosphere is still lovely and the scones, cream and jam were on point.

Certainly not terrible, just my least favorite.

How could we be so lucky!!!! The staff were so welcoming, kind, and patient. Their whole vibe just gives a sense of calm. The dessert and coffee--just WOW! The the delicate macarons had the perfect intensity of flavor. I also tried the poundcake slice--this was the perfect accompaniment to my coffee. Its texture was reminiscent of the exterior of a French Canelé (which if you know is divine!!) Lastly I got their most popular drink, the Einspänner. This was so delightful. The sweet cream with a touch of cocoa powder made this almost like drinking a tiramisu!! I cannot wait to go back!!

Opened my mind to bubbly, learned a lot and met some cool people. Most recently stopped in for wine Wednesday. Grabbed a smashburger, tiny tini (the olive) and some wine. Smashburger- good. The sauce was really tangy/pickley added ketchup to balance it out for my liking. Fries fire! Cocktail-The olive- not my thing, was trying something new since I'm coming around to olives, but no. Speaking objectively it felt like it was well balanced but I could still taste too much of the olive food my preference. I'm late writing this and they now have a dinner and new drink menu, so I'm overdue for a visit back :). Super cute.  Amazing customer service. Special shoutout to Jeff, Syn? I got the smoked salmon sandwich, maple butter latte, and a of course some macarons. My friend got the bacon onion quiche, chocolate pistachio feuillette, and a spiced apple matcha. Drinks were great. Both were creamy and tasty. I preferred the maple butter latte because it wasn't too sweet. I also wished mine came in a larger size. Smoked salmon sandwich was my favorite part of the meal. It was dill forward which was not an issue with me. The bread had a nice crunch to it. The cucumbers add a nice freshness that paired with the crème fraiche. I got a small tasting of the pistachio dessert which was rich but surprisingly made you want more. I like the nice touch of gold specks which made it very elegant. My friend enjoyed the quiche which was exciting to hear since they hate onions. They said they didn't even notice any. I especially enjoyed the illusion of privacy offered by the dividing screens at the traditional seating area. Note that Tea Zone no longer offers as wide a variety of savory foods. In fact, they only serve ramen. But their bakery section is still robust! I'm not honestly the biggest fan of most fruit cakes but I had an uncontrollable craving. As far as store-bought fruit cakes go, it was not bad. As always, I wish the cake part had more depth of flavor than just ~vanilla~, but as a whole, the cake was quite soft and generously topped with an assortment of fruit! The servers were very sweet (haha) and offered to make my iced matcha latte unsweetened but I was like, no, I need the high. Because I sure as hell am not high on life. Not a direct quote

Upon entering, it seemed like it had potential as it looked pretty cozy. The barista was nice and our drink came out quickly since we were the only ones there. The biggest issue I had with this cafe was the seating and cleanliness. When looking for a spot to settle down my things I found that there was a lack of outlets in all the spots I was looking. I went over to the other side by the window and the table was filthy so I chose not to sit there. It must have been left over from the night before as we arrived shortly after they opened. Upon further inspection, there were stains on the seats, peeling paint, cobwebs, and crumbs. The place is cute when you get a first glance but if you look closer it's not very clean. I would not come back.
