Service was poor as we had a large group (16 ppl) & they had only one staff member working our table. This waitress worked her tail off & earned her tip but with such a large group, it seemed logical that more than 1 person would attend to us. We came in on the latter side of the brunch hours, with that 5 people ordered the hamburger...they all had to change their choice because they ran out of patties. We were seated at 1pm, ordered at approximately 130pm & weren't served till 230pm, this was with a quiet dining room. Finally, and this goes more to business priorities as opposed to the work flow issues mentioned above. This meal & our group were there to celebrate our daughters baptism. At multiple points in the meal, the ownership & what I assumed was mgt. passed our table by with out any acknowledgement of the event and with no "thanks for the business." Went to posh for my birthday expecting a little too much probably, but with a place called posh that presents itself like it does, you expect a great meal am I right? Service was fine, cocktails were fun and creative. The main courses were just meh. I was shaking salt all over my food and I never do that. I'm not sure how you make scallops so bland but they were, oh well. They just need to kick it up a notch on the flavor scale all around I think. read more

I recently was in Scranton for several days, and enjoyed brunch, several lunches, and many dinners at this wonderful restaurant! The decor is so lovely.....classy, yet not pretentious! Very relaxing, yet upbeat! The food......the only words to describe it is....awesome! Homemade soups were seasonal and served piping hot! Salads, crisp and delicious; and the lunch entrees.....truly scrumptious! Dinner entrees were outstanding in taste and presentation! Prices....very affordable. In fact, I'd eat lunch there everyday if I lived in Scranton! It's a perfect spot for business and social events, or just a quiet dinner! For a up scale restaurant in Scranton, Posh gets it mostly right. Dinner for 4 went off without a hitch. I found the menu a bit plain, selections were limited and nothing jumped off the page at me. I settled with the pork chop and was pleasantly surprised. It was well prepared, not at all dry. Service was adequate, above average for Scranton. We were visiting Scranton and decided to have dinner before driving back home to New Jersey. We were very happy with our selection of Posh. Nice looking dining room, friendly and efficient service and the food was great. We liked the pretzels and our flatbread appetizer. My sausage broccoli ravioli with brussel sprouts were very tasty. My husband said his skirt stake was "yummy". For desert we shared fried ice cream and that too was delish. For three of us, our bill (with few glasses of wine and beer) came under $150 with the tip. Posh is great! The decor is awesome, the curtains and other fabrics feature Scranton buildings!! The food was wonderful. When I went, I had a pork and apple butter flatbread for the appetizer. It was very tasty. The chicken sandwich for the entree was also great! for dessert, the lava cake with a scoop of ice cream tasted like a warm, gooey chocolate chip cookie, and there was ice cream! That made it even better. It is a bit steep in terms of price but I would definitely reccomend Posh! read more

Love Posh! The atmosphere is wonderful and the service is consistently good. Love the soft pretzels instead of bread! I would like to say what a wonderful birthday party my family and I had at Posh. It was my Mothers eightieth and they made it so special for her. The food was fabulous and the staff was very efficient. We booked here sight unseen for our rehearsal dinner, and we had as great an experience as we could have hoped for. The restaurant was able to give us a private room, set up beautifully with three different tables. Our waitresses were attentive and kind, my glass was never empty, and even when there was a hiccup with my dinner order, they brought me a free salad to tide me over. Most of all, they were so accommodating when we were jumping tables, passing plates, and making their lives difficult! We also had three toddlers running around, and not only were they delightful about them, they even helped watch them. Elegant, spacious and attentiveness to detail. This is a gem of a find. From out of town we attended an event there and it rivals or is on par with elegant venues in Phila, Pittsburgh or NY. We had heard about it from people whose kids attended college and medical school in Scranton and they made it a regular stop.The architecture is exquisite and the interior wood and carvings beautifully maintained. The private room we were in (and I believe the other private rooms) each has a theme. We met the two owners, Jack and. , who were on top of things, carefully coreographing the service and circulating to make sure guests were delighted. The food was delicious with wonderful sauces. The service was excellent. This is a gem I would come back to in a heartbeat. Looking forward to another invite to Scranton PA to dive deeper and emerse myself in the full culinary experience. I've had the opportunity to experience both regular dinner service and a private event at Posh and my three star rating reflects a very mixed experience. Additionally, I have attended over ten events at Posh's sister location, The Colonnade, where I can happily report that I have always been pleased. The atmosphere and the effort put forth is certainly something that Scranton has lacked in the years past. However, this effort truly falls short, missing the "mark" by far. I'll explain.... Firstly, let me quickly discuss the positive. The decor of Posh is classic, beautiful and a truly positive ode to Scranton. The food at Posh has indeed been consistently excellent and back of house staff clearly have excellent culinary skills and keen insight to serving food that is a favorite of all levels of culinary interest. That is why it is such a horrible shame that your culinarians are failed by the atrocious service and complete lack of front of house understanding of what real quality service means not to mention also lacks experienced event planners who are let loose to make a mess of what could be a five star dining and banquet experience. Having attended a private event, I was completely taken aback at how poorly prepared the staff and POSH event planner was to handle such a small group. To start, the room wasn't even set for our guaranteed count, when brought to the attention of the event planner and staff, it took numerous pleas, to get anyone to actually rectify the situation, and without getting into more detail, the service was very average for the large number of staff who merely stood around the room, deep in thought throughout the event. I, as a mere guest of the event and not even the host, found myself inquiring with the event planner and staff on whether an additional table to could be set up quickly or at least chairs set so that guests could sit and to address what was clearly a seating issue, only to be met with well... blank stares. It seemed that the staff seemed lost or in need of direction, and clearly, they weren't getting it from the planner in charge, during my time spent there. Refills were never offered. Only select guests at each table were offered drinks, such as coffee, tea., etc. and the event coordinator seemed completely "put out" by our presence and clearly struggled to lead any decision making that was asked of her throughout the event for her staff. My main concern with the overall experience was that we never once felt that we were welcome. We seemed to be a complete inconvenience to the property, as we rushed to clean up our things from the event room, post event, and told that we "must use a back door and back staircase", because "the restaurant was opening". I can appreciate the logistical challenges of running a business in a historical building. However, this is YOUR problem, not your guests and will continue to be a challenge for all of your future groups. You must make some sort of plan to accommodate loading and unloading that does not require your guests to feel like they are second class citizens who are in your way and who are told by staff that they are not allowed to exit through the front entryway without an alternative plan as to where to actually exit! I would expect that an average shower/birthday/banquet or other such party event require three hours. Having been at Posh for a mere two and a half hours, we were rushed and made to feel unwelcomed as we hurried to remove belongings from your event planners "sacred space", who instead of ever actually helping, opted to spend her time verbally rushing everyone to leave. As a guest I can honestly say that I found myself feeling like I was part of an "assembly line" of events being coordinated that day and on Posh time, two and half hours for a private event, clearly set off the "you are no longer welcome and have outstayed your welcome" alarm. There is a place in Scranton for a quality banquet event space and restaurant and I, more than anyone, am excited to see people step up and embrace this challenge, as the owners of Posh have done. I give them great credit for beautifying numerous historic spaces in the community and for giving Scranton a choice that is on par with the type of experience most metropolitan areas have been used to seeing for decades. Just don't take us Scrantonians as fools. Many of us have seen just as good, if not better, events many times and know the difference between good service and bad in addition to the ability to clearly observe a lack of experience when it comes to event execution and leadership. You have a right to charge a premium because your food and ambiance is superb! However, people will remember the service far longer than the cocktail they drank or dinner they have eaten and it would be a right shame if such service as I experienced this weekend continues. read more

Excellent! Arrived for lunch 30 minutes early to see Chicago at the Cultural Center - we were greeted warmly. Posh is located right next to the venue. Very creative drinks - pear mule, blueberry martini, and grapefruit margarita for our table. Lunch menu is creatively robust. HIGHLY recommend the short rib grilled cheese sandwich. This is just a solid restaurant in Scranton. The staff is very friendly. The food is well prepared by the chef. I went during their lobster special a few times and it was fantastic. I went to a wedding there recently. The room was overly cramped to the point where going to the ladies room resembled an obstacle course. The food was cold, the staff was not very friendly and not very welcoming. You should probably stick to fruit and cheese plates and skip the hot entrees. I would like to start by saying Fantastic and end by saying Fantastic. My friends (6 people) and I went for dinner on a Saturday night early evening 7:00pm. From the moment we were greeted to the final goodbye it was amazing. The ambience, the food, the drinks and the service was absolutely great. My friends and I are all foodies with some type of special dietary issue such as gluten free, certain food allergies, etc, etc and the chef was able to accommodate our every request. We made an Open Table reservation at POSH because it was Fathers Day, and were seated immediately. We had asked for a quiet table, but were seated next to the servers' station. It took several minutes for someone to bring us water, and at least ten minutes for a waiter to visit us. (My brother said, "It's a good thing we all get along - and that this isn't a first date! ) We took the precaution of ordering our brunches with our beverages, while we had the waiter's attention. We were eventually served our beverages, but I had finished my coffee before the fruit and bread arrived. This was presented without a serving utensil for the cut up fresh fruit, and the breakfast breads tasted oily. About 45 minutes after we sat down our food arrived. The tomato compote on the fritatta was salty and felt heavy and gloppy, almost like tomato paste, and the fritatta itself was not well seasoned. The bacon and ham were good, however, as were the omelettes, and the orange juiced tasted like fresh squeezed. It felt like Posh has an image it would like to portray, as evidenced by the PR and prices, but it does not live up to it. read more

This past Easter my family from Connecticut came in for the holiday. We decided that this year we would go out so that everyone could enjoy the day without the prep, cooking, and clean up that comes with a big dinner. Being that it was a holiday, I am assuming that is why the only thing available was a buffet. I really would have had no problem with that part, if at least one or two of the items were edible. We went for the first seating so I figured everything would have to be fresh and moist. WRONG!!!! I have never been so disappointed in a place in a long time. My family had to head back home after dinner and I felt so bad because I am sure they stopped before they got home to get something to eat. Like myself, they did not eat much as it truly was that bad. And to boot, the price was quite steep for the "lack" of quality. The best part of the dinner was the dessert table and I am pretty sure they were brought in from a bakery. The only kind thing I can say is that the atmosphere is nice and the place is clean. After we left we all said that next holiday we would do the work ourselves or certainly go somewhere else. I used to work in the restaurant business as a cook so I really don't like to knock places. However, I don't like to see people get ripped off either. I have been wanting to try it again to see if it was a fluke, but I just can't get myself to. I feel that on a holiday, you get people who never were at your place before, and that is a prime time to impress people so that they come back. Over the past 4 years I cannot count the times I've been to POSH. Never did I have a bad meal or experience. That chef is awesome. The servers are all superb and everyone in that restaurant greets you with a SMILE. the menu changes which great....I've been to a wedding there, a shower, a couple graduation parties and a baptism. I was amazed at the bad reviews of POSH. We went in August, 2012, after s few months of 'shakedown'. Everything was delightful, and we've dined all over the country. Our waitress was young and cute, but a bit flighty. The drinks were good and generous. we shared the lobster mac and cheese - my God it was incredible! even though we told the waitress we were sharing, she only brought one spoon.. Small stuff but not 5 star stuff. She had the pork Osso Bucco - fabulous. I had monk fish wrapped in bacon ( even after a heart attack....) also fabulous. Sides and veggies delightful. Someone complained about small portion sizes - I don't come to place like this for huge and uneatable portions. I come for well cooked and deeply flavorable food, and we had it here. the desserts were also wonderful. If I had any complaint it was that the 'feel' of the place wasn't 5 star... menus were old and wrinkled, servers were huddled and talking in plain sight. If you're looking for a fancy night out you're looking in the right place! Walking in the door is overwhelming but once you're in you've become one of them. The drink list is filled with liquors I have never heard of but the staff can usually elaborate. The scallops are the best in town! I was in Scranton visiting friends this weekend and checked out POSH at the Scranton Club for drinks and dinner. It is an intimate, upscale yet casual restaurant. The bar was a fun gathering place with an upbeat vibe with great service. Dinner was awesome - started with the crab tater tots appetizer which was really great and just the perfect amount. I had salmon for my main dish with risotto and a beet reduction...the salmon was perfectly cooked and the risotto was incredible..I could have eaten a second serving! Friends had the roasted chicken and the lobster mac n cheese which they said was great. There was a great selection of desserts. We shared the fried churros which were home made, super fresh and awesomely delicious. What's great about this restaurant is there are price points for different budgets. It was so good I went back for brunch today. Fresh fruit and pastries to start followed by the crab benedict with a side of sausage. Brunch lived up to my expectations. The service was great and everyone was very attentive. When visiting again there really is no other place to go..at least for me. Check it out. I usually make my reservations on Open Table but didn't do so for this restaurant so was unable to leave a review there. I attended a function at Posh. A benefit. Invites said hors d'oeuvres wines and beers. The hors d'oeuvres consisted of penne with vodka sauce, potato chips with a spinach dip and miniscule pieces of pizza. Mind you there were about 50 people there. One tray of penne, was gone in 5 minutes and they never brought anymore out. Some did not get any. The only beer was Miller Lite. When asked for a different kind the girl went downstairs and brought up one bottle at a time. Not everyone likes Miller lite. I've heard a lot about this place but was not impressed AT ALL.. maybe the restaurant is better but the service sucked. read more
