No complaints! Great service, chic and sophisticated (but not stuffy) atmosphere, and a great lounge area for cocktails. Before I went here, I thought it was gonna be outdated and stuck in the 70's, but it was quite the opposite. Lush carpeting and rich wood in the bar/lounge area and tasteful, not tacky decor. I never got to see the upstairs where they hold the private parties, but I imagine it would look just as nice. We ate in the main restaurant and all of us were pleased with the service and the food. For entrees, we ordered the duck, the salmon, and the swordfish (special of the day). The duck and salmon were good according to the others and my swordfish was delicious. Much bigger and meatier than I expected. All three dishes were served with risotto. That was my only complaint. While the texture was spot-on, it was a little garlicky and salty for my taste. Not enough to completely ruin my dish, however, since I pretty much licked it clean. We also split a homemade brownie a la mode for dessert and it was delicious and not overly sweet. The soft pretzel bites in a basket with spicy mustard and some sort of delicious cheese sauce were a nice, refreshing take on the traditional bread basket. The staff were friendly, helpful, and very quick with everything - drinks, food, assistance!!! I am updating my review of Posh only because of my horrible experience at the Scranton Club which is inside of Posh, supposedly exclusive. I have to add, I've never had a BAD time at Posh, but they really need to update the menu to hold more (or at least two) vegetarian selections. Here's my review of The Scranton Club which is the same menu, different staff: In all my years of dining out, no matter where it's been or how classy or divey the place, I've never been openly mocked by wait staff for being a vegetarian... til now. The Scranton Club, inside Posh, (which I've given high reviews to in the past), is dark, dank and seems to cater to the Right, if you get my drift. It's dirty and smells awful since it's a cigar bar/restaurant and there is smoking allowed. I went with a friend so I had no idea. When I asked if I could get a flatbread without any meat, the bartender, who I had just paid a compliment, informed me that she didn't know how I could live without eating meat. She then went on to add that she loves meat, and fur... and would "club anything over the head to get a coat". I mean, come on! Seriously? It was beyond rude and had I not been there with a friend that "knew" the staff, I would have gotten up and left. Frankly, the smoke was giving me lung cancer just sitting in it. If you value your respiratory healthy, I'd steer clear of this place for that reason alone. The obnoxious wait staff is extra. read more

Amazing food, top notch service, an elegant but relaxed setting, and with prices that don't break the bank, Posh should be a go-to spot for years to come in the Electric City. When the manager came to check on our table I asked for a recommendation and Cindy pointed me towards the Scallops - one of the best meals I've ever had. The pan roasted chicken was about as perfect as chicken could be and steak diane special was outstanding. Combined with appetizers and great drinks - the only regret was that we had no room left for dessert. Came to a wedding here on a Saturday night, the space feels like someone's house in a good way. We were greeted with a choice of wine, the space has an elevator which makes the venue pretty much wheelchair accessible, the bathrooms were accessible as well. The food was good, the cake which I think they made at the venue was not great. We had two bartenders for the party, the bartenders didn't accept tips which I thought was sort of weird. read more

AWFUL. I went with my family during graduation weekend at The University Of Scranton. All the food was cold and It was buffet style. It was disgusting. We didn't eat because the food that that gross. Management didn't care they just gave us our 300 dollar bill for four people. Such a rip off. I had food poising from the food. Don't ever go here. Management is terrible and so is the food. Waste of money ! I never write reviews but I am passionate about bow terrible this "fancy" place is ! Save your money because there are hundreds of nicer packs in Scranton. read more

I went to POSH yesterday for my second visit. I was not disappointed. The food was wonderful, the desserts are especially creative and decadent. They were busy so our server was a tad bit slow to be what I would call perfect service, but there was nothing glaring. She also prepared separate checks for the table, which was nice. My visits to Posh since my last review had been limited to cocktails, so I waited until I had an actual meal to update. The cocktails, by the way, tended to be inconsistent during my visits (i.e. proportion of ingredients can vary wildly depending on the night or the bartender). Lunch at Posh was a quiet and largely underwhelming experience. We chose to sit at the bar and for nearly the entire duration of our visit were the only guests. Service, unlike my last visit, was perfectly fine. Food, also unlike my last visit, disappointingly missed the mark. Posh offers a $9 lunch special that includes a soda/coffee/tea and your choice of one menu item (salad + slider, salad + soup, pasta, etc.) but nothing in particular stood out and we skipped it in favor of the regular menu. During lunch, Posh offers their house wines (anything available by the glass) for $5. I am overwhelmingly biased toward Marlborough NZ Sauvignon blancs but this Californian was fine and the pour seemed generous for the price. I chose the "Posh 5 Napkin Burger" which shares its name with a small but wildly popular NYC-based chain of upscale burger bistros (not sure how Posh gets away with this). While imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, Posh would be smart to imitate 5 Napkins' signature burger (caramelized onions, rosemary aioli, gruyere, $16.75) and give it an original name. Instead, they loosely follow 5 Napkins' standard burger (cheddar, onion, lettuce, tomato, pickles and a predictable burger sauce, $14.50). Posh charges $12 for their version and while the beef itself was juicy and tasty (ordered medium, got medium+), the rest of it - particularly the stale challah bun it was on - rendered it utterly unimpressive. The hand cut fries were very good, so at least the meat & potatoes were on point. My companion ordered the cauliflower soup (served in a small crock) and fig + prosciutto salad. I sampled both and thought the soup had good taste and texture, needed a bit more salt and more of the pesto-like dollop served on top. The salad, unfortunately, was pretty undersized and served cold. Figs are not in season right now so I can only guess that they were prepped and frozen ahead of time. I was impressed with my salad here last time, despite its relative simplicity, because it was served at room temperature. This may seem like a small detail but it's critical for flavor. We were both still hungry (especially my companion) and our server managed to sell us on the idea of dessert. We both chose seasonal selections; I had an eggnog cake which was half icing and half cake (fine by me) and my companion ordered the gingerbread roll. The cake in each was fairly stale and not incredibly flavorful. The gingerbread roll was served with some heinous looking thick pink cream that tasted vaguely of strawberry yogurt and did not pair well. I don't know what they had in mind, but smearing "pink slime" very haphazardly next to what I imagine was a $7 or $8 slice of stale cake is a really poor showing. As far as I'm concerned, your best lunches in Scranton will come from Zummo's in Green Ridge or JJ McNally's downtown. No, you won't get the full bar, amazing ambiance or large menu that Posh offers, but you'll get filling portions of creative food at fair prices. read more

I was a rather frequent patron of Posh, until my boyfriend and I stopped for drinks not long ago. The doors were wide open and it was about an hour before closing. The bartender was getting a drink for a young man sitting at the bar. Once she finished pouring his drink she very rudley said they were closed and we needed to leave. Seriously? My boyfriend, who had never been there before was mortified by this bartender. I had been talking the place up as we were on our way there and was made to feel like a complete fool. We were visiting Scranton and Posh was recommended (and a short walk from our B&B). The name is Posh and the food is posh, but frankly, the price was not. I expected it to be much more expensive. The surroundings and service is sophisticated but not off-putting. Our server was excellent. Each of the five of us had something different and we all enjoyed our choices (including wine and dessert). I had the roasted beet salad which suited me just fine - perfect use of beets, potatoes (yup), arugula, fennel and feta with a perfect dressing. I got a vegetarian pasta which used roasted mashed eggplant as the "dressing" and many fresh vegetables. I loved it! I really recommend this place. read more

There really should be two reviews, one at 2 stars and one at 4. The food is excellent at Posh, and the ambiance is quite lovely. As a vegetarian, however, I must complain about the lack of vegetarian options on the menu. I have been there for lunch, and the lunch specials seldom offer a vegetarian option. I went on Sunday, Jan 20, with a group of 13 people. Not one vegetarian option on the menu. I mentioned this to the waitress, and she came back with the offer of a mushroom risotto, which I accepted. However, one of our party also wanted the mushroom risotto, and the waitress said she could not have it because she wasn't a strict vegetarian. To deny a patron a dish already being prepared for another patron seems ludicrous. The risotto was delicious, but I believe that any decent restaurant should ALWAYS have a least one meatless, fishless option in each category: appetizer, salad, soup, entree. As for the service: orders were taken and delivered well enough. BUT a wait person SHOULD NOT call the customers "sweetheart." We do not know each other, we are not friends, and we deserve to be treated as professionals. And when it came to the bill, it was a disaster. We were divided into groups. In my group we were five, and that was indicated to the waitress several times. when the bill came, two groups were incorrectly billed, repeatedly. A party of three was billed for four, and many items were billed twice on two different checks. After having our check redone twice, I gave up and paid for two items that were not for our party, but not until making sure that the other party was not paying for the same item as well. For the kind of restaurant Posh wants to be and should be, they really need to improve the menu offerings a bit, but the service needs to be MUCH BETTER. They will lose clientele if they don't improve their service. read more

One of the nicest joints in Scranton. The building is beautiful. There is a room in the front for a bar with finished wood walls, paintings, and comfortable seating options. Parallel to that room is another fashionable lounge area. The dining area is in the back, with both booth and table options, along with another bar area. The food is exquisite and the prices are more than reasonable. Diva Theatre has a $15 wine and cheese benefit there monthly to bimonthly with entertainment, so keep an eye out for that. This is also a hot spot for wedding receptions and the like. I believe there is also a hall upstairs, but I'm not positive. And their Sunday brunch is a must! read more

Posh is an awesome restaurant and event space! We eat here at least once a month, and although it's not the most expensive item on the menu, the French Dip is my favorite! So juicy and delicious! Also- don't miss the cookie lava cake dessert- it's awesome. We also love the seafood and the steaks, and the five napkin burger is great, too. We had both our wedding rehearsal and day after wedding brunch here last month, and both the service and the food were fantastic. Everyone is still raving about the food- crab cakes and prime rib! Also- if you like a sweeter cocktail that's not over the top sweet, try a spring fling- elderflower liquor, sweet and sour, orange vodka, garnished with an orange( squeeze it into the drink to make it perfect). My husband and I stayed overnight in Scranton on our way up to the Poconos. We were by ourselves, so we decided to take advantage of a "nicer" restaurant in the area, and we are glad we did. Even from the entryway, we were impressed with the decor and ambiance of Posh, and were greeted warmly as we made our way down the hallway toward the main dining area. We were promptly seated, and attended to throughout the meal. The service was first-rate, and the food was perfection in both presentation and taste. We shared the lobster mac & cheese and the flatbread as appetizer, both had the tri-colored quinoa salad with perfectly cooked/seasoned salmon, and a warm cookie cup filled with melted chocolate ganache for dessert. My husband and I chose Posh to host our wedding. When we first met with the event coordinator, Pat Rosetti, and the owner, Josh, they promised us the world at an affordable price. We signed our contract soon after and began planning. We never saw the owner again and only dealt with Pat. I knew exactly what I wanted from the beginning, so I gave her all of our needs/wants and notes. At our next meeting, she realized she lost everything we gave her. We met with her several more times, each time she was pompous and rude and lost our notes causing us to start from scratch. I was very worried, but Posh assured us they would pull it off. The morning of our wedding, I had to stop at Posh to pay them (which was bizarre, it was the morning of my wedding?!). Pat was yelling at my band, Pat yelled at me, she was yelling at my photo booth vendor, it was a disaster and I was so upset by her unprofessionalism. They had never booked a band before and I guess she was upset because she didn't the odds of hearing the band downstairs in the restaurant were great. She shouldn't have allowed us to book our wedding there then, because we knew from the start we had a 10 piece band. Why was she so mad and rude about it months later the morning of my wedding? My husband and I wanted our wedding pictures in the beautiful lounge downstairs that night (which was planned for months), Pat reassured me that it was fine and the lounge was available. We have NO pictures in the lounge because Pat booked a private party in there and never told us. We found out when we showed up that night. Her explanation was, "I forgot." Our reception began at 7:00 pm, it was 7:15 and she was not allowing our guests into the reception. She put them at the bar and told them to buy drinks! I was mortified. I had to usher people upstairs and open doors myself. The space was not done being set up. We did not want a sit down dinner. Well, Posh had our food in silver aluminum containers, the kind you see at a backyard bbq and they directed everyone to sit and take turns at the 'buffet' that we did not want. They also cannot accommodate the number of people they say they can, we had about 120 and we were so squashed I couldn't walk around and talk to my guests in my gown. I asked her to put my bouquet in a little bit of water (just like it came from the florist) and she put the water all the way to the top, ruining my satin and silk wrapped around the flowers and rusting the broaches placed in my bouquet that were passed down from my grandmother, most of which came from Italy. There were so many things that went awry, I could not possibly list them all or this review would go on for days. BOTTOM LINE: I expect some things to not go as planned when planning such a large event. For example, we had a water main break before the reception and there was no water, but that was out of their control. The things that went wrong were preventable and avoidable. I would NOT recommend Posh to host any event or allow Pat Rossetti to plan it. read more

I've had events in some of the best places in New York and Beverly Hills, so my expectations for Posh at the Scranton Club were very high. I must say that they far exceeded my expectations for my 50th Birthday Gala. Scranton is where I grew up and this party was for family and friends. My guests have been calling with compliments about the food, service and the attention to detail. Josh, Paul and Pat stayed true to a comment that was made in our initial conversation - "We can do anything." They were always there to guide and to give suggestions when asked. I'm familiar with and I've had events in most of the locations in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area and this was by far the best! I would absolutely have another event here and I can highly recommend Posh at the Scranton Club for any event, whether it's a party, wedding, etc. You are getting professionals who can handle any situation and take care of any needs you might have. You know when the owner is helping throughout the event with everything that you have found a venue that wants to make sure you are happy.
