The Portway is by far the best way to enter Bristol in terms of your impression of the city. It's a road running through the Avon Gorge, the view is truly spectacular especially in the autumn, and is reminiscent of big forests in North America. As you enter Bristol you drive under Bristol's signature landmark - Clifton Suspension Bridge which is a fantastic introduction to Bristol's heritage.
