I stayed for 3 very long weeks at 13 Arlington Villas, and wouldn't suggest you stay there. The place is absolutely filthy. When I arrived there were dead bugs on my plates and strangers' hair on the beds. There are 15 bedrooms, some with couples in, which is a lot of people for a couple of bathrooms and showers. Almost every day the floors in the toilet were awash with urine and the kitchen was too dirty to cook in. There was frequently raw meat left on the counters or on the floor, and pots would go left unwashed for days and days at a time. People are noisy, the sound proofing is bad and the customer service with the people in the office is terrible. I had broken furniture that remained unfixed the whole time I was there (I flagged it up on the first day) and theyre just very unresponsive. When I moved out I vacuumed my room and cleaned the room as best I could without cleaning products (the cleaning cupboard is locked) and still got charged £30 for a cleaning fee. An absolute joke as the room was dirty when I arrived and the rest of the house was absolutely filthy. Avoid this place if you can!

Clean with modern bathrooms. Friendly service. Our one issue was that the towel warmers are extremely hot and centrally operated. Given the record heat during our stay, it was unfortunate that neither they, nor a radiator in the hallway near the B&B entry, could be turned off without having a manager come to the premises (it was a weekend). It was the last thing I expected from the Clifton Hotel. There were huge modern pictures on the wall, beaded candle-holders, purple netting drapery and massive sofas with mountains of cushions. It reminded me more of a student bedroom than a hotel café. The place had a Moroccan feel to it and I passed the time looking around the café as there were so many things to look at - attention to detail was definitely on the designer's agenda. Free one hour wifi with any drink was a good sale pitch, as well as the extremely cheap prices. Worth a visit even if you aren't staying at the hotel.

A 10 pound deposit was required to confirm the booking. We arrived by train and discovered that the guesthouse is further away from the centre than we expected it to be. On arrival i was left waiting on the doorstep ringing the doorbell. It seemed the owner of this guesthouse was incapable of answering her mobile phone and even hung up on me at one point. 45 minutes later she appeared at the end of the drive without acknowledging us and went next door with a neighbour/ friend. 2 minutes later she came back and i asked her why she was late. She told us she had picked up her daughter from nursery and blamed us for not coming later. while entering the premesis i took the opportunity to ask her why she did not answer her mobile phone and she got offended by such a question, shouting in my face, calling me rude and telling me to f**k off. We headed to the tourist information desk in town for help finding emergency accomodation. I explained the situation and was told they are not even on the list of guesthouses in their database. We managed to book a lovely guesthouse closer to the city and, although i did not manage to stay at the glanville, i am now aware there are better located guesthouses and better guesthouse owners for the same amount of money.
