The puffin from Portside Bakery is the reason I trek to the San Rafael Farmers Market on Thursdays... Layers of flaky goodness filled with sweet and creamy seasonal flavored custard. This pastry is absolutely delicious. This definitely deserves a spot on the Bay Area Top 100 Eats list!

My search for the perfect olive bread is over. It has just the right amount of olives and crunch. Like an angry volcano, the Passion fruit morning bun explodes with a wonderful burst of flavor. There is always a reason why particular vendors have the longest lines. Don't bother if you don't have the patience to wait, you don't deserve these delicacies. They are prepared and move the line quickly. Transactions at the Farmers market are touchless and safe. No cash.

Nice bread... not. Now I know why people didn't buy bread from you, only sweets.

Everything they make is the best. Their morning buns are amazing and I'm addicted to the Gruyère onion loaf and croissant loaf

The salty, buttery, sweetness of their Kouign-amonn is worth getting up early on Sunday mornings for.

There is a different menu every week. Some of the pastries are made with the fruit that's in season and always with fresh ingredients. They're pretty too! I usually order ahead of time because they go fast! I've tried the bagels, fruit scones, strawberry rhubarb, PSL cruffin and the crookie. My husband has tried some of the savory pastries and he loves them. There's a lot of items I still haven't tried. Alex is always nice and friendly. Treat yourself to something sweet or savory the next time you're at the farmers market.

They source ultra local ingredients and have a seasonal menu that is off the chain. Their Meyer lemon pastry is something I would steal from a friend, it's divine. Custard, sweet, tart and the toasted merengue on the top is the chefs kiss. It's so good. My kids love the chocolate croissant and the almond Bostock, both are divine. They make hand pies and make a Strawberry Rhubarb one that is SO good I bought one and drove it two hours to my dad's house so he could eat it. It's that good. Spoiler alert he ate the whole thing. Their breads are just insanely delicious. Try the BBOP and try and buy other breads. Just try, you won't want them. Their English muffins are my personal favorite because it's what an English muffin should be. This is and should be the first stop at your local farmers market. But don't buy any of the aforementioned items because if I get there late and it's sold out I get sad. Thanks friends!

The shortbread cookies are amazing and usually there are some available. The chocolate chip cookies--no place had better--are by special order only. Order them and thank me later. The chicken pot pies are rumored to be amazing, as are the quiches. I'm allergic to egg, so try them for yourself. This is a wholesale bakery that allows walk-in purchases. It's not fancy. You're not their main focus, but they are exceedingly accommodating. They do not take credit cards--Venmo or cash. Remember--it is wholesale and they are being kind to sell you food to go. Most everything is frozen. The service is fantastic! I call ahead and let them know what I want. Almost always, its available. Sometimes the chocolate chip cookies aren't. But,.
