Pizza Amalfi with stracciatella cheese, anchovies and cherry tomatoes ( roman style)
    Christian B.

Went there for an easy dinner with friends. We started with a mix of their homemade Fritters: supplí, pasta fritta and fiori di zucca. The supplí was Amatriciana version with the add of pancetta, and the pasta fritta was Cacio and pepe. The fiore di zucca was the standard way with mozzarella and anchovies. Then we had pizza and very good " ai ferri" steak. My pizza was roman style, so very thin and crispy , Amalfi was the name of it, with anchovies ( a bit too salty) stracciatella cheese and cherry tomatoes. Besides the good food all the staff was very friendly and professional, constantly checking that we were doing fine. I'll come back here again

For the locals in Rome, this place is where it's at! We got there around 7:30pm and the place was just starting to fill up. Our waiter (who didn't speak much English) escorted us to the outdoor seating area. It was a spacious corridor between two building exteriors lined with draping lightbulbs. The tables stretched on so far we both wondered why on earth it was necessary for this restaurant to have so much seating. In the opposite direction, you could see a huge painted mural on another building. Definitely a phenomenal atmosphere. We ordered a few starters and some drinks. The food was tasty and are drinks were stellar. I ordered the Red Chili Pepper cocktail and I really don't think I have had a better spicy cocktail. It was sweet, salty, and spicy all at the same time. Very refreshing. For our main entrees, we ordered the buffalo tartar and the salmon pasta. Both were great, but I might not be the biggest fan of tartar (but always into trying new things). By 9pm, the place was PACKED. Every seat of every table was filled in the entire restaurant on a Monday night. We finished our night with more cocktails, and again, we were not let down. If you really want an authentic Roman experience not overrun by tourists, I recommend coming here. The prices are a bit high, but the experience was great. It's a bit out from the city center (near the Pyramide metro stop), but I think it might be worth it.

    Worst vegetarian lasagne ever

Not sure where to start with this place but here it goes... The service was s**t! The host had us waiting around like idiots in front of him for 5 minutes while he chatted with the waitress even though there was plenty of seating. After he stopped talking with the waitress he asked us if we wanted to be seated which we replied "yes, for two" at which point he acted apologetic for not having had seated us earlier. Anyways, we had to wait probably 10 minutes I would say for a waiter to come take our orders. The only reason he came was because he saw us sitting there clearly looking for some help at which point he asked us if we had been helped yet to which we replied "no" to. So we got our orders taken and didn't have to wait long for food, 10 minutes I'd say. Continuing on, to eat I got the vegetarian lasagne and I'm going to put this the nicest way possible--it tasted like S**T! Honestly tasted like a frozen dinner that was warmed up in the microwave and dumped onto a plate. The broccoli in it tasted like it was spoiled and had a really weird after taste. I was expecting something cheesy, with tomato sauce and tomato chunks. What I got was some clumpy cheese and stale broccoli--YUCK! It's honestly the worst vegetarian lasagne I've ever tasted. My niece on the other hand ordered the diavola pizza which she thought was very flavourful but the crust was extremely thin and when she picked up a slice, it literally flopped to a 90 degree angle. The cheese and the toppings literally slid off the crust which made it very messy and difficult to eat (pic attached). I also got a cappuccino to drink which was all froth, no lies! I had three sips, literally, and the rest of it was froth. It should be renamed "frothuccino" for goodness sake. Tasted good but definitely not worth the money! I will say, however, that this place has a very nice ambiance, very bright, and well decorated. Needless to say, after the sh***y service and nasty lasagne, I'd never step foot in this restaurant ever again. I'll be having nightmares of that lasagne for years to come.

Dressed with hurricane lamps, white wood and gleaming ceramic tiles, Porto Fluviale is the latest hot spot in the post-industrial Ostiense district just south of Rome's centre. Named after its location near the banks of the Tiber (Porto Fluviale literally means river port), this all-day bar and trattoria is a big fish in an up-and-coming area awash with restaurants inspired by Rome's nautical past. In former times, goods that travelled from the sea were unloaded right here, and the river landscape is carved up with rusting cranes and wharf-side relics - perfect for outdoor dj sets and pop-up bars in the summer. While Porto Fluviale is ideal for a fragrant pastry and coffee for breakfast, a lazy brunch or lunch, it really comes into its own after 6 o'clock when locals pop in for an aperitivo. Inspired by the British happy-hour culture, this tradition of an early evening drink is rigorously accompanied with mouthwatering snacks and taster sized portions from Porto Fluviale's kitchens, including creamy risottos and tangy pasta dishes, as well as fat black olives and hand-cooked chips. Try an Aperol or Campari based cocktail, a glass of wine from the daily-changing list, or sup on Porto Fluviale's in-house ales - a crisp lager, floral Weiss beer or a very hoppy IPA. Porto Fluviale is divided into three main areas, a bar zone, trattoria and pizzeria. All have their charm and are worth trying. The pizzeria also serves cicchetti (Venetian style tapas) but I favour the pizzeria for great Roman style or Neapolitan pizzas, with modern and classic toppings. The burgers are pretty good too. Friendly staff, a bustling atmosphere and enticing open kitchens (as well as cooking classes and special themed events) complete the offer.

This being our first culinary experience of the eataly tour 2k18, our expectations were naturally high. And let me tell you, this place did not disappoint! I ordered a napolitana margarita pizza while my boyfriend got the Diavola. The crust was baked and charred to absolute perfection and the cheese to sauce ratio was superb. Mouthfeel 10/10. We destroyed the pizzas within seconds before even finishing our cheeky beers. The nice thing is you can watch the chefs prepare and bake the pizzas in their wood ovens and the smell transports you to pizza heaven. Friendly and helpful staff. Put this place on your wishlist, people. #welcometoflavortown

While staying in Osteinse, we decided to check out this restaurant/pizzeria after reading many positive reviews, and they were right on the dot. PL is a local spot - sure tourists have discovered it through the power of the internet, but on any given night, you'll find plenty of italian lovebirds on dates, and friends catching up over vino. The food is solid with the zucchini fish balls & salmon tartare being our favorite. A few of us ordered carbonara at the table, but when we found it a little too salty, they happily remade our dish until we were satisfied. Our waiter was awesome - super friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and a generally fun guy to be around. After your meal, you can walk around the corner and have some delicious gelato at La Romana. Wins all around!

Porto Fluviale is one of my favorite places in Rome. The exterior of the building is wrapped in an enormous, beautiful mural by Blu, with installations by numerous artists scattered throughout the interior. The bar/restaurant is warm and cozy with a seasonal menu of fresh food, the people who run it are great, and there's always something interesting going on.

Porto Fluviale means River port, but it looks nothing like. It is big though, and often crowded, and if a hoard of hungry locals believe it's a good option, then you're in for a treat. But you also might experience a long wait to be served or to even see the food you ordered. Partly it's the price to pay for a popular destination, partly they might have overshot the sizing, since the place is massive. When you reserve you're faced with the option between pizzeria and trattoria. And while you try to avoid a classic "I made a huge mistake" moment, the explanation you're offered is a bit vague, so you really only learn in hindsight: pizzeria has pizza, fried deliciousness and grilled meat. Trattoria has pasta options and different meat offerings. Either way, the menu is interesting, diverse enough for any group and very reasonably priced. The T-bone steak is a massive slab of meat, which for €20 is a steal. I enjoyed the "Chicken tagliata", mostly dark meat, nicely seasoned and sitting on a bed of salad. When in Rome, cicoria and indivia sides are almost obligatory additions to any meat dish. If pizza is your thing, you'll love the place and the selection, all in the thin local version (not the fluffy crust version from Naples). To get the best of both worlds, get a focaccia as a side, a mix fried platter for starters and meat for a main dish. If you can, come by for brunch over the weekend. The buffet is amazing, I don't usually gush over buffets but this one will have you coming back for more, considering to restart from pasta once you've tried the desserts. Perfect option for vegetarians as well. Four stars just because service can be painful at times, which makes the self-service brunch a much more relaxing experience. Choose the time of the day wisely to avoid crowds, possibly reserve in advance and just arm yourself with patience to find a parking spot. Life gets much better afterwards.

I am an avid…read moresushi/sashimi lover from the NY tri-state area who couldn't go my entire 4 months here without sushi. Very nice traditional Japanese sushi restaurant in Rome. The all you can eat offer for 20 euro is definitely worth it. The sashimi was incredibly fresh and made quick to order. The various appetizers all were tasty and obviously endless. The only thing that keeps it from a 5-star rating was the lack of selection when it came to actual rolls. Although very well made and delicious, their roll selection was not very extensive or "wild" which I look for in sushi restaurants. A nice touch was the inclusion of a Chinese menu which was also included in the 20 euro price and all of them looked very fresh and delicious. I had the spicy shrimp and rice noodles selections which were both made very well. I will definitely be going back very soon!

I'm a big fan of Japanese food, having stuck to more traditional restaurants in the past to get my fill of sashimi, one of my favourite elements of Nippon cuisine. Imagine my delight upon understanding that I could order unlimited sashimi here (I was under the impression that certain, more expensive dishes, might be limited). The night started well with a copious selection of sushi and sashimi, ordered in conjunction with my five fellow diners. It's AYCE, so I focus on the fish, overlooking other delicacies that I usually enjoy, such as tempura and soba noodles. The seaweed is heavily vinegared without much other flavour. The tuna sashimi has no flavour at all, while the salmon is a little more tasty, probably due to its natural oil content. The experience is one of a feeding frenzy, without care for flavour or presentation: the sushi are fashioned expertly enough, but garlicky mayo and other California-style rolls are a bit of a turn-off. By the end of the evening, we've over-eaten and I have the sense of having binged for the sake of it, rather than enjoying what I usually consider an exquisite ethnic choice. Obviously, the restaurant's not to blame for the piggishness of the diners, but it's a formula I don't enjoy and which seems far from the central reason of why I go out for dinner.

This is not like the American version of Chinese food, they have to improvise on a lot of things. That being said the food is still good and edible. The waiters did not speak English only Italian so this gives you an idea of how this part of town is not touristy at all. They still manage to communicate with us on what we want to order. A couple of times i been here with my friends and someone just pointed to what someone was eating to the table next to us and the waiter knew that's what we wanted haha good times. In terms of staff they all were friendly even tho we did not understand 90% of what they said. The restaurant was clean and they did not let those annoying street vendors in, you know the ones selling light up roses or some robot toy etc. There are a lot of restaurants in the touristy areas that WILL let those guys in but many do not and this is one of them. So if you want to eat your meal in peace this would be one of them. For sure try it and you will experience this American favorite in a whole new light.

The waiters at first weren't that welcoming but I think it was because they couldn't really speak English as they spoke Italian and mandarin. If you do speak in English they do have some waiters that are able to communicate some words to try and help you out. Traveling through Europe there aren't that many places where we could find vegetables so coming to get what we were craving was great. I would recommend the pan fried dumplings, the beef and vegetables and some other Chinese hot plates.
