Our spot was by the boats but there are some next to the water (seemed colder and I wouldn't be able to sit outside). And more $$$ Quiet, nearby restaurants (closed Mon/Tues) . Not very busy at all on the week we were there. Fire pit, picnic table, level areas, cable TV Office guy very nice

    View behind/above lots 4, 5, and 6.

We made our reservation in person a month prior since we were camping at a nearby campground. They are friendly and welcoming. It was a simple and straightforward experience. The lot we took was number 4. The other lots were fully booked so we didn't have much of a choice other than 5 and 6 which are the cheapest rates I believe. No matter what lot you choose, you are within walking distance to the bay. I've been to RV parks tighter in space than these so it wasn't much of an issue. Restrooms do include showers and are maintained. There are restaurants within walking distance as well that adds to the glamping experience. Highly recommended, but reserve far in advance for more options.

We stayed in site 41. Beautiful view. Clean, quiet campground. Very relaxing. Had a fire pit and picnic table. Wi-Fi and cable TV worked, although we stayed outside most of time and enjoyed the view.

Sitting at the campsite, sipping a cocktail and watching the sea lions.

This place is amazing! Love the small quaint friendliness of the campground. Beautiful water front campsites, with about half of them being full hookups. It is a little challenging to locate the office and where you should initially park to check in. The staff is very friendly and will provide recommendations to the local hotspots and festivals. Oh wait, there is more, did I mention there is a wine bar 900 ft. from the campsites. This wine bar serves flights of wine on cute surf boards. You can sit on the patio outside, sipping your cocktails, and enjoy the beautiful water front views. This is a must go to place!

This is one of two RV places that mean hubby always come to every single year. We love Porto Marina because it sits in an inlet in the bay where you can get a site close enough to the water. It gets pretty slammed in here during the high season so make sure you make a reservation. They also have about 10 dry camping spots here that's right across from the bathrooms. I love that there are a handful of spots that can fit or 38 feet Rig. The last time we came here we couldn't fit into a spot so they swapped us around it also happen to be the World Cup and in their Play house there's a full kitchen there and TV that they allowed us to come watch one of the games at. The staff here are very friendly and super helpful. One of the changes I notice for 2020 was that they do charge a $10 reservation fee on top of your site fees. That's only good for summer when it's really packing you know the spot you wanna be in. Each site has a picnic table and a fire pit provided with water and amp hook up. There is a full bathroom and shower here and it is within walking distance from two restaurants. A nice peaceful place to relax at indefinitely.

This is a great place to sit by the bay with full hookups. The staff keep it clean and are proactively helpful. The price is getting concerning at 110 per night for the waterside locations. But I have to admit it is pretty cool to hear the sea lions at night and the fog horn every 15 seconds. The bathrooms are clean and warm. Our neighbors are friendly and hospitable. Boats are constantly slipping in and out to go fishing. Just a nice place to be.

Gravel parking lot with a view in a run-down marina. Sites/setting: Contrary to other reviews, I didn't feel that the sites were terribly tight, but it has that "open parking lot" feeling with very little trees, bushes, etc to separate you from your neighbors. Everything is gravel, no grassy patches. The marina itself looked pretty rough. I'm sure it was nice in the past, but it looks very unmaintained and rundown. We were unable to get a site on the water, so my review is based on staying in one of the interior sites. The sites on the water had a great view although no usable "beach" space. Amenities/Utilities: All sites have picnic tables and a nice large fire pit. No laundry facility. No dog park/area, but doggie bags were provided. No playground or play area. There were two restaurants in the marina one that served breakfast and lunch and a wine bar that served lunch and dinner (closes at 8pm). No military discount offered. All staff was very friendly and helpful. Initially we didn't mind paying the $75 a night since were were going to be right near the water, but overall I felt like it was extremely overpriced for what it was. If you don't need hook-ups look into staying at Doran Regional Park.

Sitting at the wine bar next to Porto Bodega rv Park.

We really enjoyed our first experience at this rv Park. When we checked in and we returned later in our weekend to book another trip, the ladies were very nice and helpful both times. Yes the lot is gravel but no big deal to us. It was level and we did not notice any potholes and it was clean. The only thing we thought needed work was the fire pits. They were full and many of them were partially breaking apart (concrete blocks). It was great to be able to walk across the park to Ginochio's, a nice little breakfast and lunch restaurant, great food and pastries. Right next door is a wine bar/ restaurant which had a tasty selection of wines/beers and a really fresh plate of mussels in a garlicky white wine broth-sooo good. We sat outside and with a beautiful view of the marina and bay. Overall it was a great weekend.

As camping sites go this place is pretty plain. No trees, gravel spaces and paved roads. Location is great and the sites are pretty level. There is a boat launch. And lots to do very close by. Most of the people here are friendly enough. The "quite" hours are not enforced, the office closes at 5:00 and you hardly see any employees during the day and never at night. So unless you're a social night owl or have a sound proof rv I wouldn't recommend staying here.

The fire dept. came and the whole house smelled like smoke all weekend which I guess was better than the overriding mold smell of the place before the smoke incident. We stayed in the Seal's unit, which is the largest of the 3. For the price it's tough to beat the location. The cabin sits on piers directly over the bay when the tide is up. You do get a bit of road noise due to the location directly off highway 1, but late at night, the road is not well traveled. The unit is cleaned by tenant's so it's not professionally cleaned. Still, it was not too bad. The unit could benefit from a new bed and perhaps some updated dishware. It would really pop with some new furnishings, but then the price would likely increase. Sitting out in the hot tub on a star filled night makes these issues are little more excusable. We had some outstanding food at Terrapin Creek Cafe and Spud Point Crab Co. We got to see an amazing sunset from the balcony and seals swimming just offshore. It was nice to have a kitchen to make a simple breakfast. You do need to bring your own linens and towels, but that was not a problem for us. You have to clean the unit before you leave, but it did not take more than an hour. The only negatives for us were the shower was somewhat clogged and we weren't able to enjoy the hot tub because it needed cleaning and was slimy. We booked on extremely short notice, so we can't fault the owner for not having time to check on the unit before our arrival. He was easy to work with and responded very quickly to phone calls. We had hoped to use the available kayak, but ran short on time. If you are not looking for a 5 star, fancy hotel, this is your place. The relaxation factor of having your own space, combined with the reasonable price made this an ideal escape.

Once my mother had already confirmed the house by sending in the money and we got the address we saw that it would be quite a walk to the beach and we would have to cross Highway 1 with two small children. She called BBBVR directly and asked just how many minutes the walk would be and was told about 15-20 minutes. My mother asked if they had any houses in our price and size range that were closer. She sent over three options and the first one we chose she wrote back and said that the owners were choosing to stay there and we would have to pick another. Strike two. Finally we settled on Ocean Song, which was only three houses away from Highway 1 with the beach just on the other side. None of the options we were offered were without crossing that very busy road. The house, Ocean Song, was listed as kid and dog friendly. While the house was lovely, with a gorgeous view and the right size for what we needed, I would say that it was more dog than kid friendly. The kitchen was quite small, so they had all of the dishware on a rack on the floor next to the dining bar. This was very tempting for my 22 month old to want to play with. Also they had the supplies for starting a fire in the fireplace, including matches and a metal poker in a basket on the floor. They have two showers and no bathtub, although one shower had a handheld shower head, so we made do to get our kids clean. The house itself is an updated 1970's house with lots of picture windows for viewing the crashing waves below. The bathrooms and kitchen have newer countertops and appliances. The house is eclectically decorated and has all the modern conviences (cable TV, cordless phones and wireless internet). The porch is very pretty, has lots of seating and even has a small firepit. The garage, which is strangely accessed through the master bedroom closet, has a gas grill and a full sized washer and dryer. This would be the perfect house for a family with older or no children who wish to travel with their dog. One thing that slightly grossed us out was that it smelled of dog immediately upon entering and there were obvious spots on the carpet near the front door. We aren't really dog people, so we would probably prefer someplace a little less pet friendly. One note about accessing Portuguese Beach from the house. There is a path directly across from the street the house is on, but it is very steep. If you walk a little down Highway 1 to your left you will come to a path with wooden stairs set into the hillside, which is much easier and safer. However, be careful when you are walking back to the house. Walk to the actual street and don't take any side trails. As we found out one of the trails leads directly into the backyard of the house just across from Ocean Song, but when you try to cross the field you will find a steep gully filled with poison ivy and unless you go back through the neighbor's yard it is a one mile plus walk around the gully back to the house. What should have taken us five minutes ended up taking an hour simply because we were eager to get off the side of Highway 1 and the cars that speed along that expanse. None of the options were fun with small impulsive children. On our second day we just decided to drive to Doran Beach since the waves are smaller and safer for young children anyway.

We were only staying one night, so we booked the smallest room. If we return for a longer stay, we'd probably opt for a larger room. Our most recent experience was not great with newer employee (Gina). When we arrived on WED we were happy to get our keys to the Harbor House as it was our first time to stay in this house. We got into the house and we realized it smelled of gas. There was one burner that was taped off with do not use on the tape. It was obvious that the Inn was aware there was a problem, yet this was not taken care of properly prior to our arrival. We returned to the office to inform them with our concerns in the Harbor House. Gina let us know that she has had other guests with the same complaints but she said it had been recently serviced. She said if it made us feel better she could have the handyman come look at it again in the morning. She tried to reach the him, but there was no answer and she had to leave a message. Gina did assure us that the owners daughter had just stayed in the Harbor House with no complaints. We chose to stay the night and have the handyman check the stove in the morning. It was two days before the stove was checked so we were not able to use the heat or stove until Friday evening. The young man who worked on the stove let us know it was leaking gas because it was not fixed correctly. We also had some attitude from Gina when we tried to get 4 wash cloths and more coffee for the coffee maker. We also had to ask for toilet paper twice because we only had 2 spare rolls for 4 adults staying 5 nights (6 days). We should have been offered a discount for the 3 days we were not able to safely use the heater and stove due to the gas leak. We have decided that we will have to move on and find a new place to stay for our yearly vacation to Bodega Bay. I think things would have been handled differently had George or Steve been running the office that week. We are very lucky that the house did not blow up nor did we have poisoning due to the natural gas leak. Keeping all the windows open until it was properly serviced was difficult because it was so cold, but we are still here to share this story. Looking back on this we never should have stayed in the home but I am happy to be alive. We are just disappointed that our trip was not enjoyable and we paid extra to stay in the house when we would have had a better vacation just renting a room without these issues.
