Pat Jones was a pleasure to work with even though I didn't end up buying a boat from him. I had decided that I wanted to buy a specific model of boat based upon what I saw and read online. I have had over 9,000 dollars of work done in the last year through P.M.E. Almost everything was done wrong and I had to return multiple times to get it corrected. It took them three attempts to install two new batteries. New bilge pump would not pump water did not even check at shop. The RK 40 did not turn all the way in one direction because of wire ties tied to other lines had to cut them all off first time out. How do you not check this kind of stuff before boat leaves shop. Last time in the shop guy used my chine load guide for a ladder bent it until it broke the weld P.M.E won't pay to have repaired won't even answer text or call back. Go anywhere but P.M.E. for your service and repairs for your boat. I know they have new people there but someone has to check work before it leaves shop. read more

I had a problem with my TR-1 while salmon fishing at the coast. So frustrating!! I called Portand Marine and Electronics while still in the water in Hammond and the guy that answered the phone said to bring it by in the morning, but no promises. I was just happy that they were willing to check it out. I brought my boat in at 9 am and the owner himself got to work on it, and made it so I can get back on the water. Unheard of customer service. The customer service lady needs a new job. She does not have any kind of phone skill whatsoever. Instead of trying to answer questions and concerns she plays "bubbly" and then gets aggressive when that doesnt work. Has absolutely no patients with customers, has no information on the very industry she works for, and is costing this company business. I was ready to make a purchase today, and was calling just to get basic info like price and weight. Instead I will actively advocate against this business. HORRIBLE customer service, even from the owner, and below-quality work. I drove over 3 hours to take my boat to PDXMarine. The work took longer than expected, and when I finally got the boat home, I discovered several problems. (1) The bolt for the swing brake on the kicker had been loosened and not re-tightened, so the swing brake was not operating (potential damage to kicker, kicker-mount or hull). Mechanic did not check this; (2) They replaced the fuel hose with one larger in diameter than the original, which pinched off the fuel line. The mechanic never tested the kicker to see if fuel was getting to it; (3) The new fuel line wasn't clear with the kicker in the raised position (double-pinching the line). Again, mechanics never tested this, or they'd have known and been able to correct it at the time. The necessary repairs cost just over $200.00, and I suggested to the contact at PDXMarine that it would be more convenient for both of us if I just had a local mechanic do the fixes and they reimburse me for it. I sent them a quote from a mechanic along with photos of the actual problems. It was like pulling teeth to get a reply and when I finally did, they just tried to say the problems didn't exist and made excuses for their mechanics' failure to check the work. Then they told me they'd "be happy" to make the repairs (which they were silmultaneously claiming weren't neccessary!) if I brought the boat back to their facility. That would mean I'd have to trailer my 24' boat for 6 hours to get it to and from their place! It would cost more in gas than it did to just pay for the repairs (which they obviously knew). When I tried to confront them about all this, they refused to reply to my emails. I even emailed the owner, someone I'd actually spoken to in person at some of the sportsmen's shows, and he didn't respond. I am a business owner myself, and I can tell you, I would never treat one of my customers this way. Unbelievable! I could deal with the mechanics being time-pressured and overlooking some stuff, but if you follow that up with ZERO...no, actually, Negative customer service, you've lost me. BUYER BEWARE! I recently had a Humminbird Helix fishfinder and Minn Kota trolling motor installed by these guys with the full expectation that they would be networked together. Unfortunately, they installed an MK trolling motor that I found out after the fact did NOT interface to my Humminbird fishfinder. After originally mentioning that they would fix this when speaking to me to my face, I have not heard from them in two months. Numerous voicemails and emails go unanswered. I guess they've mastered the technique of "ghosting" as applied to dissatisfied customers. Pat was most responsive on email before the purchase - go figure. If you do want to buy a boat/trolling motor/Fish finder like my setup, I'd recommend that first, you not deal with this business and secondly, ensure you purchase the "I-Pilot Link" enabled MK trolling motor. read more

Pat & Jen were so helpful and easy to work with when we were shopping for a boat. It is a huge decision and as the joke goes "the two best days are the day you bring it home and the day you sell it". That has not been the case for us! We love our boat. I almost under bought (smaller, cheaper boat). Pat took me out for a cruise on the Willamette and thank goodness he did! I immediately realized the boat would be small for my family. We decided to wait as the length of boat we wanted was not in stock, after looking at all the other shops around town it was very clear how the inventory at Portland Marine is better cared for. They cover the boats when they are not being looked at. The other shops seats were weathered and there was bird poo all over some boats. Unacceptable for such a big purchase. Portland Marine takes pride in their work and the relationships with their clients. We ended up with a 18' Alumacraft and couldn't be happier with the fit and finish of the boat! Well my dad tried to get his boat fixed and services here. The older two stroke 25 horse Mercury outboard was smoking profusely and was dumping fuel. He also had the wheel bearings on the trailer serviced. After he got it back the motor was smoking just as bad if not worst than before, and now the freshly serviced wheel bearings were throwing large amounts of bearing grease all over the side of the boat and trailer. The problem with the motor after my dad started to finely inspect it was that the bowl on the carb had completely fallen off. The guy said he adjusted it and obviously didn't even turn the motor over to see if he addressed the problem. This happens when you employ a solution without even attempting to diagnose a problem.Now for the trailer... Whoever serviced it not only didn't use marine grease, (absolute cardinal sin on anything that goes near water!) but the seals they used on both sides didn't even fit. I am no mechanical genius but this is egregious. I wish I would have been there when my dad took it back to confront them. I would have found out specifically who didn't do there job and then told them how to do it! Do not waste your money here unless you don't care if your stuff works or not. Find a bum that used to be mechanic before you go here! read more

Purchased a product only to receive a fund a day later without a reason stated in the text or email the refund was given. So I called on Thursday 07/25/19 around 1:45pm and spoke to a younger gal. I just want a reason because there was not one stated in the email or text. She said the product was not available and it was indicated on my email refund. I was looking at the refund with my own eyes and it was not there. She further stated that "Ok I'll make sure to tell the rest of our customers that we are doing things all wrong!" Click! Purchased a simple trolling more bracket from them. Upon getting home I noticed all of the mounting hardware that comes included was missing. Called back the next day and they apologized and said that they'd leave it outside as I could not get off work before they closed. Drove out of my way to pick them up only to find they were not there. So I've now driven there twice and still didn't get everything I purchased. Fed up I called and asked for them to be shipped as I wasn't wasting anymore trips for an item I already paid for. I finally got a response a week later and they and they agreed to ship them. HERES THE WORST PART, THEY HAD THE NERVE TO CHARGE ME FOR THE SHIPPING. Not only did they screw up but they didn't even try to make things right. Spend you money other places read more

Bad work and worse customer service. None of the work was tested before they returned my boat to me. They didn't fix my TR1 unit at all, and in working on it, they double-pinched the fuel line on the kicker motor and totally disabled the swing brake, which could have caused major problems if I hadn't caught it. When I told them about it, they made excuses, then refused to reimburse me for about $250.00 worth of fixes. Instead, they told me I had to go back to their facility and they'd do the repairs, knowing full well that this would mean I had to trailer my 24-foot boat for 6 hours round trip. They knew it would cost me more to take it back there than it would to just have someone else fix it. When I tried to contact them further they refused to respond to my inquiries. Even the owner refused to answer my emails and no one ever tried to call me. I'm a business owner myself, and I would never let that happen to a customer of mine. It was totally outrageous. I had electronics, a heavy two stroke kicker and some other misc stuff done on my trophy..Four days turned to 14. The swim platform where the kicker bracket was installed started separating from the boat. I hold up my kicker with a 2 " ratchet strap. They're solution was to help me engineer another fix not we'll make our screwup right. Boat repairs here were shaky. Between PME and other expensive incompetent shops I'd like to get out of boating after 25 years. read more
