He had already reviewed my chart notes and bloodwork ahead of time, which made a big difference. My appointment was longer than expected in a good way, and I felt genuinely understood. The intake was efficient and very thorough, and he validated how I was feeling instead of making me feel unheard or judged. As someone who works in mental health, I really value a collaborative approach, and that's exactly how this felt. I would absolutely refer my own clients to him as well. I was more than lucky to have been referred to Erik by a friend, and he has been nothing but a God-sent. Whether you are religious, gay, or atheist, Erik treats you with the most respect. He has treated all of my diagnoses with tender care. I have now seen Erik for over three years, and it has transformed my life. Erik makes me feel like I have a caring family member that I've never had. Erik builds relationships where you feel safe and gives hope that better days are to come. Erik takes the time to describe any medication you have questions about and will do his best to work with you. He has made me feel that my health is his priority. Before I met Erik, I was struggling with severe depression. Though I may have hypomanic episodes from time to time that causes depression, with his help, I can confidently say I was able to overcome the severity of it in 2020, along with alcoholism and other things. Erik has helped me do my everyday task with comfortability. The amount of appreciation I have for Erik is not enough said in words. He has a talent that I can only imagine how many he has impacted. The bottom line is that we need more psychiatric's/people; like Erik, he is one of a kind, and I would follow his practice wherever he went.

He knew very intimate things about me, including what I look like naked. The new insurance listed the Portland Clinic as an eligible provider. I made an appointment with Dr. Cooper, half expecting to meet a pre-occupied nitpicker who had more important things to do. Dr. Cooper confirmed my theory before I even met him. The day of my appointment, his assistant called to say he didn't want to see me. Huh? Apparently, he chooses who he wants to see and who he doesn't, and my chart was on the reject list. It was really thoughtful of him to make that determination the very day of my appointment, after I had adjusted my work schedule to be there. Perhaps if I were a rich old white man he might consider gracing me with his royal presence. As it turns out, Dr. Cooper's douche bag maneuver, proved to be the best gift I could ever ask for. I got a same day spot with Dr. Trafficante who is equal to or greater than my old Dr., but taller and with a cooler last name. Dr. Trafficante listened to my concerns and suggested new medication that has made a world of difference for me. He is knowledgeable, professional but laid back, which is something that I really appreciate. Additionally, I have never called his nurse for something without her not answering the phone or responding the same day. I personally have never thanked anybody for being a douche bag, but I guess there is a first time for everything. Thank you, Dr. Cooper, for leading me to one of the best Drs. The Portland Clinic has to offer. In the end, saying the name "Trafficante" instead of pedestrian "Cooper" makes for a lot more fun.

Dr. Brown was the most compassionate doctor I ever met and spent quite some time with me evaluating my throat soreness and hoarseness. He determined that there was an infection and ordered my antibiotics and steroids immediately, so I could pick them up at the pharmacy that evening. After taking the medication for 2 days I felt great and all my symptoms had disappeared. I continued my medication for 7 days as prescribed. Dr. Brown followed up with me via 'Legacy Health" to make sure I was making progress. Dr. Brown is a great listener und I can absolutely recommend his services!

I'm not an easy patient. I've got hereditary issues and I'm very active and like to push my limits - and sometimes I push too far. I self-diagnose. I want details. I want sympathy. Dr. Brown listens carefully, answers my questions, offers suggestions on how I can maintain a lifestyle that I enjoy in optimal health, and provides a high standard of care that is all too rare in our current healthcare system. He is very knowledgeable, conscientious and follows through diligently. When Dr Brown changed clinics, I followed him to Legacy Medical Group (requiring a change to my health benefit plan) so that I could continue under his care. It's just my opinion, my experience. And others here are voicing theirs, as they have every right to do. I hope that those reading the reviews of Dr. Brown will consider the context here. There is very little regulation of posts on Yelp. Reviewers are not experts in the field. Reviewers are describing their individual customer service experience. Sometimes doctors must tell people things that they don't want to hear, and that's a tough spot to be in when the ratings come in. So take my review with a grain of salt. And take all the other patient reviews with a grain of salt as well. And kudos to you for doing research. But go beyond the patient reviews. Check out these two articles about patient satisfaction and expertise in our society. Maybe we should go beyond the number of stars a doctor gets and consider what they're basing their ratings on. The DR spent the entire visit belittling him for going to the ER & not having insurance. He spend more time playing dentist than being a doctor and dialed in on my son having poor oral hygiene and just would not actually focus on what he was being seen for. He would not listen to my son, dismissed the notes my son took with to make sure he didn't forget anything, and repeatedly told my son he just needed to find a better job, get insurance, and go to a dentist, but didn't offer any real advice about the CURRENT issues and actually made his health anxiety worse and his swallowing symptoms have now regressed (likely to anxiety) brought on by the extremely rude and condescending Dr he saw. The Dr he was supposed to see was not in the office, but is somehow still the one listed on his visit summary so we can't even review or file a complaint on the right Dr. Yes, my son should get insurance and take better care of his teeth perhaps, but none of that was the reason he was there and none was helpful. The Dr told my son basically how dare he go to the ER for this and that when "people like you" (referring to my son) go to the ER it just costs the tax payers money. Firstly, my son is a grown working man who pays taxes, Second - my son will get and pay his own bill. This doctor spent the entire visit "roasting" my son (my son's words) and now the progress my son has mad over the last week since his initial medical problem is practically all gone.
