As a wheelchair using driver, it's not particularly quick or easy to identify an appropriate vehicle that will meet my needs. I don't drive a van. I typically have driven a 2-door automatic, however, it has to have enough room between the driver's seat and the door frame that I can put my wheelchair, when folded, in the backseat. When I was younger, these were easy to find. These days? Not so much. I first called Ed Martin Honda as I was curious about a used Honda Civic. I'd had a Civic before, but cars change over the years and I wanted to make sure. I was transferred multiple times trying to find basic answers about the vehicle. At one point, I simply asked if they could measure the space I needed to know about as I'd been able to determine how much room I needed. It was really basic customer service, and they just wouldn't do it. Majorly dropped ball. Somewhat on the flip side, I did an in-person visit and the sales rep definitely went out of the way to let me try a couple of the vehicles. I was definitely impressed, and there was a definite effort to try to think of vehicles that would actually work. That was good customer service, though we didn't actually find a vehicle. For the record, I ended up buying a Honda. If that original associate had been more helpful who knows what could have happened? I learned that both the Civic and the Accord would work (coupe versions, so slightly older). I ended up with an Accord that I'm anxiously waiting for it to arrive. This was a solid mid-range experience, though somewhat disappointing given I've generally heard great things about Martin's customer service. Phone call? Disappointing. In-person? Much better. Overall, I'd still probably return for future needs.

What I received was a misrepresented, overpriced vehicle with immediate mechanical problems and no accountability when things went wrong. Within 100 miles, the check engine light came on. The vehicle began misfiring. I immediately contacted the dealership, asked about returning it, and was told there was nothing to worry about. I brought it in for diagnosis and after being told it would be about $6,000, I received a quote for nearly $10,000 for repairs. After questioning, that number dropped to $6,000, then $3,500, then eventually to $0. None of it made sense, and I was given no written explanation of any repairs or warranties. At one point, the dealership returned the vehicle to my home without my consent and left the keys in my mailbox. I still hadn't received documentation or any formal warranty. My trusted mechanic later confirmed that the brakes were dangerously low and the rear suspension needed major repairs--issues that should have been caught before sale. Despite multiple attempts to resolve the issue respectfully and through the proper channels, including the Indiana Attorney General's office, I was eventually offered $4,000 on the condition that I stay silent and withdraw all complaints. I declined. I spent months in a borrowed vehicle and months without a reliable vehicle, while continuing to make loan payments and pay full insurance coverage. The check engine light has come on again since the supposed repairs were completed. I still don't know exactly what was done to the vehicle or whether it's even safe to drive. Throughout the process, I experienced shifting stories, incomplete records, vague promises, and no real accountability--not just from the local dealership but from Asbury Automotive Group, the publicly traded parent company. This experience has caused enormous stress, wasted time, and financial loss. I am sharing this because I believe consumers deserve transparency and honesty--especially when making major purchases that affect their families and daily lives. I hope this helps someone else avoid the same pain and frustration. I would not recommend doing business with Leo/Bill Estes Lebanon or any affiliated dealership without having everything in writing, verified independently, and fully documented before signing anything.

Then comes the warranty extension pitch, which I decline outright. "Give him the friends and family discount Johnny for a mere $4900!" I'll pass, I say. Also passed on the "free" oil change for an additional $550. When I got home, wifey asked why I paid $1400 extra for exterior coverage. Told her, I declined all additional warranties but sure enough there was my signature. Shame on me for not bringing my attorney with me to review the paperwork. Shame on Leo for reaffirming why I hate the car buying experience. It's not about selling cars but selling all the add ons. Apparently no means yes in that world. Truck is nice though. I'm one of those customers that doesn't buy a new car very often. I drive them until the maintenance becomes too expensive/frequent that I buy a new car as a better financial decision. So, it would be easy for them to not be welcoming. But I never have been treated poorly in the seven years I've been coming here. My car usually keeps humming along (my previous one lasted ten years) but every once in awhile, something happens and being that I am mechanically challenged, I take it in. Sometimes, the warning light isn't a big deal, so they suggest trying a few things first before bringing it in. But when what seemed like a small problem (amber light) suddenly turns to a bunch of red lights on my dash and warnings on my car's computer screen, I make sure to take the car in and have it looked at. Normally, when I take it in, I get a courtesy call that lets me know what the maintenance guys have found and get an estimate. But this time, I didn't. The man on the phone knew he hadn't called when he called me to let me know the car was done. Before I could panic that it would be some huge bill, he let me know that even after five years, the part was under my warranty plan and there wasn't any service charge, let alone any charge for parts. Free!! And while they were at it, they fixed a few other minor items that were free due to a recall. Free is nice! Free is stress reducing. Extremely disappointed. After an oil change and multipoint inspection (which was quickly done), the…read moreonly issue mentioned was my tire tread getting low. However, they neglected to find these obvious issues. Keep in mind I was told before service and after that they top off what needs to be topped off. 1. Radiator coolant was at the minimum before service. The radiator coolant remained at the minimum after service. They topped it off after I pointed it out, but I shouldn't have to. 2. Antifreeze was at the minimum going in and is still at the minimum. I will be topping it off before going to another dealership to have it flushed out and replaced. 3. They mentioned they checked the engine air filter and it was fine. Upon inspection at home, the dust on the air filter cover was undisturbed showing they had not touched it. Upon inspecting the air filter, it was painfully clear that it was not checked and was desperately needing replaced. A picture is provided. 4. They mentioned the cabin air filter was also checked and was fine. After removing the filter, it was clearly evident that it wasn't checked as it was disgusting. A picture is provided. I don't know if it's because they lost their master mechanic (what they told me) so it's inexperience, or if it was laziness, or a scam, but they have lost all my trust and I will never go there again. I will be going elsewhere for another inspection to see what else was missed.

They communicated with me weekly on their findings and progress; explained in detail what they found and what they were going to do to solve the problem.
