I stopped at this place based upon friends who live in Milan, which I feel gives some credence to…read moreit being near the Duomo. Mostly good stuff to say, so let's get the negatives out of the way. Okay, so I know coperto is normal, but I still don't like it. Also, I felt like the servers really hovered near patrons, which was kind of annoying. They also don't list glasses of wine on the menu, but you can get them (at a cost TBD?). Also, I did not love the comment between servers that what I ordered is what "the Americans always get." That may be, but it felt like an insult. Not cool, bro. I can take my happy tourist euros elsewhere with a kinder attitude. Now the good. I loved the outdoor patio. Again, not unique to this place but I enjoyed that it was a little hidden from the hustle and bustle of the Piazza del Duomo. They seemed to have heating lamps or something, as I wasn't chilled on this otherwise cool night. I thought the Prosecco on the house served when first seated was a lovely touch (and decent Prosecco at that). I ordered the tagliatelle Alfredo, which may have been the best Alfredo I've ever had. Yes, I'm American. (I promise I've had other dishes while in Italy this time around! At least I didn't order a burger and spaghetti like my lunchtime table neighbors!). The servers were certainly attentive. Soooo all in all, I give them a good review based on their food alone. The snide comments could be left at the door (or in the piazza, if you will).

So i have been back recently as again it was the holidays and most other places were closed and it…read morewas late at night. What a disappointment.... (We were seated across the street at their sister restaurant, same kitchen used last time except i was seated at Da Regina) The pizza sauce looked like tomato juice it was so runny that the crust became wet and gross... unfortunately i will not be back, my friend was also disappointed by her meal and service.

Designed by architect Giuseppe Mengoni and opened in 1867, it contains a central octagonal space and dom made of glass - one of the most distinctive in the world! Inside, you will find clothing stores (most designer) and a few places to eat. It gets very busy with people shopping, taking allot of photographs, and congratulating around a few points of interest such as the famous bulk mosaic--there is a little dance you can do to bring you good luck! If you're interested, you can search for damage on the Galleria in WWII and they have rebuilt/restored it very well! Just outside the Galleria, you can also see the Opera House, more shopping, and even a monument or two in remembrance to the WWII resistance!

I would recommend making a reservation during prime hours and sitting outside if they have space there. The pizzas are the thin crust Roman style and very solid - the classic Margherita is the one to get as the execution is fantastic. You get the flavor of a NYC slice made with better ingredients and with a great thin crust. This reminds me of Marta in NYC which closed during COVID. The classic entrees are made in the comfort food style - solid flavors, generous portions, and good ingredients. Be sure to try the costelleta or ossobucco. The cutlet is perfectly tender with a crispy crust served with fantastic roasted potatoes. The ossobucco itself is just okay but the risotto is very satisfying especially with the bone marrow. If you are by the Duomo or Galleria and want comfort food this is a great option.
