Love this little hidden gem we were attending by Mr Sackos such a lovely man he's helping our friends and families get quite a few suits. The staff is very Kind and very helpful, they even have great recommendations. They work fast and have everything you need to make sure your outfit if on point from suits, to tuxedos, to shirt, ties, cuff links they got it. What we like is that they have options aside from the traditional black & blue suits/tux's. They will measure you on the spot and fit it to you they offer a service for free alterations for life which is great since our bodies are always changing. If I could give this store 0 I would. I live in CT and drove down to Harlem, which takes about 60 minutes with no traffic. I was searching for tuxedos for my wedding. I wanted something different than a normal tuxedo shop would have and was told to check this place out. When I got in the store, I liked one double breasted tuxedo, but it was in a size small. They agreed to order three more for me in sizes medium to extra large. When I took my sons back with me we chose the medium and large, but the large jacket was missing four buttons! The clerk assured me repeatedly that the buttons would be added and even wrote on the alteration ticket for the tailor to add them. When I came back to pick up the tuxes, the buttons weren't added. I told them I would come back the following week. I tried to call to see if the tuxs was ready, but no one EVER answered the phone. I called the clerk on his cell, which he gave me, and he was extremely rude. Even, threatening me by saying, "I have your suits"! As if he was going to do something to them. Then, he proceeded to ask me for my PayPal account because he wanted to purchase some gifts. I swear to God this is what he asked me in a text message! When I came back to the store, (3rd trip) the buttons still weren't added. I told them to take the buttons of of one of the other tuxs and give them to me. I'll have my tailor add them. The clerk lied and said they didn't have anymore of the same tuxedos. I knew he was lying because they had four total and I only purchased two. Then, another clerk joins the conversation and goes downstairs and brings up the other two tuxedos. I then said, give me the buttons or have you tailor add them now. The same clerk that lied the first time, lied again. He said the tailor wasn't there and he can't give me the buttons because now that suit would be no good. Now, I'm puzzled because I'm saying to him, so the suit I PAID for has no buttons, that you assured ne would be added and there's suits right here with the buttons and you won't remove them! WTF!!! After screaming to the top of my lungs and telling them I'm not leaving this store until I get those buttons, here comes the tailor. Another LIE! I explained to him the situation and he agreed to add the buttons. I showed him where the buttons should be added. Then, the first guy says we can only give you one button, not all four! Again WTF!!! Now, I'm screaming again. Then, they decided to put all four on the tux. I pointed out which buttons should go in specific places. When the suit came back...the buttons were in the right place, but the solid and floral buttons were switched. I had to send it back downstairs to be changed. With all that I said, please stay clear of this place! They're LIARS, UNTRUSTWORTHY, HAVE ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE and LACK ANY INTEGRITY.... I had to endure all of this a couple of days before my wedding! TRUST ME STAY CLEAR OF THIS PLACE! read more

Hubby wanted a suit in Harlem. This place has a huge selection. A lot of jackets, shoes, shirts, belts, suits, etc.... The customer service was kind, personable, and very helpful. Made sure the clothes my husband picked out fit just right. I believe this place will custom fit your suits. It's included in the price. If you opt out of the fitting, they will throw in some shirts to help make up the difference. Next time we are in Harlem, we will definitely come back when looking to go shopping. read more

They've got everything from the subdued to the sublime, from work to runway. And their customer service is perfect. I don't write many reviews, but I feel like certain establishments get short shrift on Yelp, and so I'd like to offer my opinion. This is not a super high-end fancy suit for men looking to spend serious money, but that's a sell to me. My son needed a nice suit, and this place was great for what we were looking for. The dark navy suit that we bought was cost effective, and the shopping experience was simple. The first suit the guy pulled off the rack fit well and looked great. We bought my 14 year old son a suit, dress shoes, and had the tailoring all done in the same place, and it was a simple experience. The salesmen were professional and knowledgable. Suit cost $100, shoes $30, pant hem for $10. For a boy who will ideally wear this 10 times before he's grown out of it, but I still want him to look sharp for a wedding, this was ideal. read more

This is a fucking store. I bought a suit and it was a bit bigger for me, I went back to change but they refused to change for me. And working there at 1220 east Fordham Rd, Bronx, NY 10468 and thieves. They speak to you in English and speak to each other in Spanish and in a low tone. The manage has no communication skills. He talked to me rudely when I went back asking to change the suit. Very unprofessional. I was shocked I met that kind of customer service from that shop. read more

They hooked my brother with a suit for prom that was cut well and fit him nicely. He is 6'4" tall and slim (European cut usually works best on him) but the best thing was how well they catered to his needs! We got a great suit with modifications made and stayed within a budget under $150! read more

I would consider this review a cheap suit comparison of Porta Bella and their sister suit-sellers down the street, Fino. Both stores are run by the same company. They both have decent suits for the price, but (if you read my review of Fino you'll see) Porta Bella is a little friendlier and their tailoring skills are better. After a disappointing outing at Fino, I was in need of a second suit for interview season. I wanted a slim fit, two piece suit that could get me through interviews but also double as something to wear out to fancier crap when the occasion called for something more than a nice pair of jeans and a dress shirt. The salesman at Fino had turned me off, so I almost had to do a doubletake when the saleman in Porta Bella could have easily passed for the other guy's brother (slicked back hair, fast talker, well dressed). The problem at Fino was I was rushed through everything so I immediately put on the breaks and tried on several suit coats before deciding on a black, slim fit suit with a subtle stripe. This salesman was much more helpful than the last. He gave me some advice for ties (I was going too dark, "interview right? not a funeral?") and I picked up another fitted white shirt. The suit, shirt and tie ran about $185 but he knocked it down to $170. I know it's not the 'nicest' suit, but for the price, it looks a lot nicer and I'm hundreds of dollars the wiser. We went through the same song and dance I had done at Fino: pay at the register, sign for the pick up, here's the pink slip of paper to bring back, see you in an hour....wait...an hour? Fino made me wait until the next day. This guy was gonna crank out a pair of tailored pants within the hour....these were gonna be crap. He took my measurements. Waistline. Outseam. No Inseam. I told him how bad my last pair ended up because no one measured the inseam, but this guy insisted he knew what he was doing and looked a bit offended that I had doubted his tailoring abilities. This was at 7:15pm. I planned for a 8:15 return, and walked 125th popping in and out of stores to waste time. I come back at 8:15 and the guy is standing at the door asking if I'd forgotten about my suit?!? I now know three things: Don't question the Porta Bella salesman/tailor's capabilities "One Hour" means "Less than One Hour" Porta Bella closes at 8pm on Tuesdays. I knew it was kind of a jerk move at this point but I asked if I could try on the pants before I left. Because they had the key in the door, ready to lock up, they told me to try them on at home and come back if there were any problems. I still had my receipt and lived nearby so I agreed. When I got home, I tried on the pants. I'm going to get this salesman's name and pay him to tailor every pair of pants, jeans, sweatpants, and swimsuit I ever buy. Excellent job. Perfect fit. He really made that $130 suit look like a hell of a lot more. Service earned the 3 stars, 4th comes from the tailor job on the pants. Well done. read more

Decided to walk in the store after my boyfriend liked some 3 piece suits in the window. Quickly greeted buy a young middle eastern guy, who immediately found the correct sizes for jackets and checked the vest sizes for each jacket. The pants were extremely long, so he assured me that all the pants were like that and he can tailor them in about 2 hours. He sized the legs to my bf's preference, and we checked out. He didn't charge us for the alterations and knocked down the price on two three pieces suits and a separate $50 grey zip up jacket, totalling about $302. Everything seemed good quality, will update if anything falls apart given the other scary reviews. Overall a good experience! read more

They have a nice selection of suits and shoes that are reasonably priced. I didnt feel pushed or pursuaded to buy anything, their sales people are very knowlegable and extremeley helpful. read more

Be careful. If you have a low budget, this will be the place for you. But understand YOU PAY FOR WHAT YOU GET!!!! I purchased a suit, a belt socks and a pair of shoes. They rushed when it came to tailoring my pants. they basically screwed them up. I can't even wear them. The belt buckle broke as I was trying to put it on.... then after only wearing my shoes for ONE MONTH, the sole on the right shoes became detached. After spoke with the store they claim that since I made these purchase for the shoes back in March, I can only come in and purchase another pair of their cheap crappy ass shoes, at a discounted price. So basically they are saying even though you purchased shoes from us and they are defective, not only won't will replace them, we want you to come back in and but another pair!!! HOW SHITTY!!! My advice is go to K&G fashion store. Their prices are comparable to this place and the customer service is even better! If there is an issue, you can call in AND BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND what they are saying as they are 100% fluent in english! I wouldn't buy a bag of roaches from Portabella!! read more

Last weekend I had a funeral to attend out of state so my boyfriend and I went to Porta Bella to buy him a new white dress shirt. When we walked in, we were greeted warmly. We took a few more steps in and a sales associate immediately helped my boyfriend pick a shirt. We ended up getting a few more items because we were so impressed by the service. When we got to the register there was a young woman that was being trained, while she was ringing up the transaction my boyfriend became confused and began to ask why he was handed him three receipts. The woman that was training the new cashier answered in a very inappropriate way. She stated "I keep trying to explain it but you keep talking."This wasn't the case, he had asked her the question twice, the first time she didn't say anything and the second time she replied with what was stated above. I was in shock that she would react this way to a question, so I looked at her. She then proceeded to roll her neck at me and stare me down. I then complained to the manager. The manager then said that he would tell the owner and gave us a free tie. The manager then walk over to the cashier and asked what happened. The cashier began to yell, she said she tried to answer his question but he wouldn't listen. Then I asked her why she being rude to me. She said it was because I was looking at her. She said "bye" and stopped talking. The manager apologized but it was obvious that nothing was going to be done. It's a shame, we had such a good experience with our customer service but the end ruined our experience. read more
