My wife and I have hired a good number of landscapers to do some things around our house, Big…read moreNick's was easily the worst. We hired Big Nick's 6 months back to do some work in our backyard. We wanted some weeds removed, one planter repaired, three planters to be filled with rocks and plants, and three flower beds around our pool filled with weed barrier and rocks. The final product was not at all worth the price. The "fixed" planter cracked again after 3 months and now has to be re-repaired. The weed barrier was not flush against the edges just about anywhere they put it so weeds still grow around the edges. 2 of the 7 agave plants we had them put in the planters were planted at an angle and have since died. These were 5 year old Blue Glow Agave plants we got from Moon Valley Nursery for $400 each. On top of that, the customer service was terrible throughout the process. Big Nick's agreed to provide the rocks when we started then tried to charge me an extra $1,600 halfway through the job because they ordered the wrong amount. They took the weed barrier we had provided for the job with them after the first day then tried to charge us when they didn't have it in the days after that. That charge wasn't itemized in their bill, I only learned about it after I asked about extra charges when their math didn't add up on the bill. When they finally did return it, someone just let themselves into our backyard unannounced in the middle of the day and left the weed barrier there. Super violating. Big Nick's also didn't communicate about when they would be here to work, which left us in the dark about when to take our dog to doggy daycare so they could work. As a result we ended up paying for several days of doggy daycare we didn't need and had to scramble to get the dog in one other day. Bottom line--save your time, money, and aggravation and find a different company.

I was shocked and dismayed when he charged me $320 after working about an hour. That seemed excessive to me. I asked him about it, and he stood firm, so I relented and paid him. A mere month later, the timer fell off of the house. I discovered that he has used screws that were too short to secure it. $320!!

I hired Outside Living Concepts to complete my landscaping project in May 2023. Unfortunately, the…read moredrip irrigation system they installed has become a major issue. Just this summer alone, I've had to repair and replace nine separate sections of the drip line due to leaks. At this point, I've replaced roughly 50% of the entire system myself. What concerns me most is that every leak has occurred in the same type of tubing, which is visibly worn and deteriorated. I even cleaned sections of the removed tubing to make sure dirt wasn't making it look worse--the material is simply degraded. For comparison, I installed another drip irrigation system line in 2021 using different materials. Despite being about two years older than the system installed by Outside Living Concepts, it has experienced only a single leak. I understand the project is now outside of its warranty period, but I don't believe a drip irrigation system should experience this level of failure after only a few years. The amount of time, labor, and money I've had to invest to continually dig up and replace the system has been extremely frustrating. What has been equally disappointing is the follow-through. After discussing the issue, the project manager told me they would send a crew out to repair the next leak. Just two days later, another leak occurred. I immediately reached out, but now two weeks have passed without anyone coming out or any meaningful follow-up. I'm sharing my experience so others can make an informed decision. I had hoped for better quality and, when problems arose, better customer support. Based on my experience, I can't recommend Outside Living Concepts.
