While the market is worth a trip in and of itself (if seemingly endless streets of awesome vintage finds and other food stalls are your thing), The Poutinerie sealed the deal for me. If you've followed along with my reviews this shouldn't surprise you, but I consider myself something of a poutine connoisseur. I wasn't super optimistic about the quality of the poutine in London, but I had no reason to be skeptical, as The Poutinerie delivered. Maybe it's just because everything is better served out of a food stall, but the dish was great. I got the regular, and the curds-to-gravy ratio was good, and the fries were fresh. No complaints here! Service was quick and friendly as well. It was a little more expensive than I was expecting, but well worth it considering just how badly I was craving poutine at the time.

There was a chalkboard explaining what poutine is and what they offered. If you want to compare poutine, do what I did and order the original. Otherwise, you can order the The Coq au Vin or the Philly Cheese Steak. I'll upload some pictures so you can see what this includes. I overheard as I walking past once done with the markets that this was their first day. I hope it went well for them and I hope they return. I think they have a really good product.

You can find Grill My Cheese at the Friday market of Southbank Centre and I definitely think you need to try a sandwich. The cheese one is £6 and the pork one £6.50 and they are both delicious. In terms of street food this is a good one.

First time we went to scout out the location, it was closed because it was cold, miserable and raining (ah, the English springtime!) As soon as the weather started clearing up, I dragged my colleague (who incidentally is one of the world's biggest Nandos fans and has eaten at something like 2 dozen of its branches) back over to Brick Lane. We both had the lunch special special with the hot (I think it's 'woof woof' sauce). It is certainly hot sauce, I have a relatively high tolerance for spice but made pretty slow progress (great for clearing out the sinuses btw although between that and all the orange sauce over your face I'd recommend taking about half the kitchen roll provided). The lunch special includes 6 wings, onion rings or fries, blue cheese sauce, a few little sticks of celery and a drink. My colleague love the fries, the onion rings were standard (and by standard I mean delicious, as they are one of my favourite foodstuffs). Drink options are awesome - I had cream soda which comes in a pink can which I drank from a pink straw. I looked extremely serious and prepared for my afternoon's work arriving back in the office still drinking it. Aside from being hot, the woof woof sauce was a little sour for my tastes, I would get it again but would add some salt. I have since tried the original which is fine but not particularly exciting. I also sampled the next level up which immediately burnt a hole through my tongue down to my stomach. Colleague experienced same sensation (and he is a Nandos extra hot kind of guy). This really raises the stake on the 'roulette' option - 7 original wings plus one 'viper' - the fourth and most extreme level. Terrifying. Has to be done.

Buffalo Wings... in London?…read more Yup, you heard it right. The folks at The Orange Buffalo are cooking up some absolutely delicious wings from the heart of the Turman Brewery just off Brick Lane. Nick, the man behind the counter, hails from England but has spent time in both Upstate New York and in San Francisco. Thinking about wings and food culture in general, he couldn't have picked two better spots to learn all about the secrets of the Buffalo wing and about the importance of good ingredients. The sauces are home made and the chicken is free range, what more could one want really? This little stall is absolutely worth checking out, and even on a Friday at lunchtime there was a queue. So go, eat wings, be happy.

These were our first meat pies we had on our trip to England. As someone who lived in Australia (a…read morelong time ago) but now lives in the US, the lack of meat pies and sausage rolls is sad. I was very excited to try these pies out! The pies don't come with any sides, such as mashed potato or mashed peas. That's not a dealbreaker though, as they are meant to be eaten on the go and adding mushy peas would be a challenge. We both enjoyed the pies and I'm glad we chose them from all the options in the market, especially since I was growing tired of fish and chips. Great pies - I'd eat them again!

On our 9 day visit in London, one of our quests was to find the best British meat pie in the city, and we're happy to say this is the One! Our admittedly subjective criteria includes: - Pie must have a good balance of gravy and fillings - Fillings must be meat-forward, and not overly displaced with potatoes, carrots or other 'fluff'. Caveat: non-meat fillings must still be present and enhance the pie. - Crust must be crispy, all-around (no soggy bottoms!), but balanced with the fillings. - Value (quality for price) matters Along these lines, this Borough market vendor provided the absolutely best pies we found in all of London. We ordered the "Moo & Blue" which was a beef steak and Stilton cheese pie for 8 or 9£. Start to finish, the pie was crispy, well-balanced, while still offering the best price around. There were a variety of other pies offered, each with clever names (Deer & Beer! Kate & Sidney!), and we wish we had more time to sample them all, but we're sure we'd be quite well pleased with any of them. Is it easy to eat a meat pie in the crowded Borough market location? More comfort foods include burgers with fried eggs, burritos, falafel, and other delicacies from all over the world. Every vendor is very kind and willing to take the time to tell you the story behind the food. Conveniently located on Rupert street, which is a stone's throw from the Berwick Street market (where you can pick up produce, organic milk, etc), it's a great one-stop trip during your lunch break or midday adventure. Prices are incredibly reasonable for every dish, portions are huge, and they have tables and benches set up to festively eat right there on the street. These folks work really hard, they set up and break down their tents and cooking stalls every day they're in operation, and never leave a mess in the street. A must-try if you're central in Soho.

There was a party atmosphere with balloons up and a big crowd, no doubt wanting to get their last fix of seafood We lucky Elites were fortunate to get a free signature lobster roll, which would usually cost £11 and a glass of bubbly (I got homemade lemonade instead). I've been holding off lobster roll as my US friends in New England have asked me not to partake until I visit them and they would take me for the best lobster roll in the world However, when free food calls, I'm there! The lobster roll was delicious. I was expecting a plain soft roll but B.O.B's have toasted their bread to give added texture, buttered it generously and filled it with a good portion of sweet soft lobster bound together with mayo. Great taste and flavour but perhaps not the largest sandwich in the world I didn't try their lobster mac n cheese and lobster bisque but they did smell fantastic Bye bye B.O.B. and hope to see you back next year. So this Sunday I went along to the pre launch of London's only (as far as I am aware!) lobster roll…read morejoint. Excited to sample the whole menu I did not leave disappointed! The lobster roll is obviously the signature dish and is more than expected in the construction. Months have gone into perfecting the recipes and the buttered brioche roll is light and compliments the sweet lobster meat (a good amount of lobster in the rolls too unlike most crayfish sandwiches that you get at stores) For me. the ahi tuna tacos are the star and a must have. The glorious crispy taco shells are filled with delicious tuna and a wonderful fresh and vibrant salad. The wasabi dressing is great too (and I don't like wasabi!) Mac n cheese is al dente, creamy and rich with lobster pieces and the pickles are great (even though the liquor that they are stored in looks like a witches pot!) Open every evening Tuesday to Saturday this summer I am sure the queues around Borough market will be for BOB's Lobster. Get yourself down there

Fried chicken is fried chicken? NO it's not!…read more This is the best fried chicken around, tasty, fresh, flavoursome and all round addictive! In an odd way it feels healthy as well! You can get cheaper fried chicken but why bother when for a few quid more you can get Mother Clucker! These guys are often dotted around London at places like Street Feast so if you get a chance make sure you give them a try! Hard to come up with 3 tips, but- 1.Don't bother with chips...fill up on chicken 2. Get messy, you don't need a knife, and you have no right to moan about getting messy...it's fried chicken! 3. Go back for more!

Well we woke up this morning had our daily email from Yelp and saw the one about a little American…read morearmy truck food shack. So we decided to get on the scooter and go for lunch and was it worth. We had 2 combo 3 southern fried chicken which I think was 5 strips, Cajun chips which they put hit sauce and lime majo on and a drink all for £9 but with our Yelp discount £2 off. Staff were really friendly food was out of this world. The chicken was moist the covering was amazing. Was not greasy at all. Will def be coming back and recommending it to all our friends. Thanks for the idea Yelp.
