Nostalgic Mac and cheese
Bridget K.

Super yummy Mac n cheese! My friend got the super Mario (mushroom, truffle oil) and I got the nostalgic (regular.) It came in a medium sized cup and it was the perfect amount of food! The bread crumbs are super yummy! It was cheesy and very tasty. The service there was friendly and very fast.

Good mac & cheese place with unique flavors! I tried the La Med Babe which had pesto, sundried tomatoes, and mozzarella balls. I thought the toppings were interesting and cool, but the cheese didn't seem to be of the highest quality. I probably wouldn't try it again, but it's a unique experience if you're in Camden and craving cheese!

The mac and cheese itself is OK. The first time I had it, the cheese sauce itself was a little bland but the crouton-y bits on top were amazing. The second time, the crouton-y bits were too peppery but the cheese sauce was cheesier. Swings and roundabouts. However, it's just a bit irritating how poorly prepared they seem to be. I've been three times and not once have they had any mac and cheese ready. The first time I was only there for coffee (I thought it was still Jika Jika, RIP best coffee place in Euston), so it didn't affect me much (although they had also run out of chai and pastries...), but both other times there was a 15 minute wait. One time I was there another woman was annoyed because she'd been a few days before and they hadn't had any then either. A 15 minute wait would be fine in a restaurant, but in such a small space (there is seating but not a lot) and with a product that is obviously styled as a fast takeaway option, it's a pretty big ask. On top of this, I think it's a bit pricey. The nostalgic (i.e. the basic cheese option) was £5; in the short amount of time this has been open, this has increased to £5.50. If I'm not getting a note back from a tenner for a medium tub of takeaway pasta, I've stopped feeling this is a standard lunch option. To warrant the price, it needs to feel like a treat - and with the slow service and hit-and-miss product, it just isn't there.

Super Mario!

So much cheese!! Excellent mac and cheese. Both kinds we tried were great!

One of the best mac'n'cheeses i've ever had!! My friend and I shared the Super Mario Mac, which came with sautéed mushroom, truffle oil, & garlic. I would say you wouldn't need to order more than that though, because sharing one serving was a perfect amount for the both of us! I definitely want to come back here and also try the Pancetta Mac, because that looked amazing as well!

Delicious! 5 or so options, ranging 6-9 pounds (cheese only to meat options). Lots of orders ahead of me, but only a 10 minute wait for food. Well worth it! The cheese roux base is tasty.

A tiny, simple, no-nonsense mac and cheese and coffee joint just across from the University College Hospital. The Max Factory produces some of the best mac and cheese I have ever had in my entire life. And that's a hefty claim for this cheese-loving American. Bravo. Decent price, delicious food.

Yes yes yes yes yes to The Mac Factory. Good old Mac and cheese straight to the point and super delish with a very rich cheese sauce. The croutons on top add the exact amount of crunch required to jazz up the creamy pasta! I haven't tried anything but the nostalgic as I like to have the standard mac and cheese, but I'm inclined to try the truffle one next time. I can't seem to go anywhere but here every time I'm in Camden.

Now, don't be fooled into comparing this London incarnation to the 2 famous Philly Cheesesteak venues because those 2 spots are tourist traps. You want to compare this to the 'hood joints where you get your sammiches & these guys are well up to scratch!! The meat is in abundance & while I'm not so sure these are authentic Amoroso rolls, they are pretty darn close. Things your cheesesteak should be...Cooked using water - yup, oil is not used in the hoody versions; have a mouth-watering smell of flavour when you unwrap it. Hot, flavourful; meat, cheese and onions should become one unit of deliciousness. These are defo delicious but didn't have the steam aroma when I unwrapped it & they're cooked using oil but were not greasy - thank goodness. Original cheesesteaks may be cooked with mushrooms or hots and the ketchup and/or mustard are added before the meat goes onto the roll. These guys don't offer those varieties but I assure you, these are darn good versions of my beloved Philly Original. I noticed they're offering the Philly pork sandwich so I'll be back to sample that too. Well done guys, very well done! P.S. If in the future you can master the Philly Cheesesteak Hoagie, you'll get an instant 5 Star review.

So I was quite surprised when I saw Liberty Cheesesteak in the listing of places at the Yelp Red event. Immediately I started Googling and found out that a) they looked like some tasty cheesesteaks and b) that I wasn't going to be able to try it until at the Yelp event. My other half was able to try it out though before the event and was suitably impressed. I was so excited to try and eagerly went for my cheesesteak taster and thought, meh. It's fine but a bit dry or something. My husband though insisted it was just because of the making-ahead-bulk-nature of trying to feed eleventy million hungry Yelpers at once and that it was better fresh. So today I hopped on a bus at lunchtime to go to the Mayfair Market at Brown Hart Gardens. Never had been there before and I was impressed with the location - up a flight of stairs, but loads and loads of seating and generally relaxed, with a handful of food choices. Of course for me there was no choice, just meeeeaaaattttt. I found the tiny stand and determined that no one was queuing to order, and eagerly placed my order for a half with onions and cheese whiz. There were about 10 orders ahead of me but the line cleared quickly and I soon had my sandwich. There was a small mix up and I ended up with a whole instead of a half. Such mistakes are fine by me! I was rewarded for my persistence. The meat was well seasoned with a nice peppery taste, and the Italian roll soft but chewy in a nice way. The onions were soft but not sweet, and the whiz was savoury and salty and unhealthy tasting, just like I wanted. 2 tiny niggles were that I had a couple of pieces of meat that could have been trimmed a bit better - but I'm a complete fuss pot and no one else would probably notice. And I would have liked more cheese. But I always want more cheese, and I'm sure if I asked for heavy on the cheese next time that I wouldn't be denied. Definitely better than the cheesesteak I had in Philadelphia from Geno's. Now to just figure out how to follow them around and be a cheesesteak groupie without seeming like a weirdo...

I opted for the beef rendang burger, a slow cooked curry from the Malay tradition. Mandy has taken Aberdeen Angus beef, mixed it with ten spices and a healthy dose of coconut before giving it the hours of slow cooking to render it fork-tender and dry enough to go into the toasted sweet brioche bun. Like all the burgers, it comes with sweet pickled cucumber, red onion salad, sambal chilli and mayo The beef rendang burger made a satisfying mouthful. The beef rendang is really good and Matt, one of Mandy's regulars who I met at the stall said he keeps coming back because it's the best beef rendang in town. For my palate, I think that the other contents could be even bolder in flavour - more sour in the pickle, more heat in the chilli and perhaps some flavour in the mayo - but I'm used to strong tastes You'll also find chicken satay and chana dal satay burgers, which did smell lovely Good luck to Mandy for being bold in promoting Malaysian food and introducing a new genre of Malaysian with a twist cuisine. Go along, try and enjoy!

The hainan chicken was off menu and a delight. Fried chicken, fritters and dumplings also very good I thought. Love a good sauce with them all too. Only thing I must say is the Laksa. The curry laksa to be precise. It was bloody hot!!!! For an Asian I must say too hot!!! Like uncontrollable hot I didn't manage to finish all the thick sauce by the end (and I never waste). I love that they didn't hold back on spice as it's often a gripe with most places tempering down spice but this was too much I must say. But I kept coming back for more spoonfuls. Prawn and chicken good and portion were very sizable. It's a 3.5 really based on that OTT Laksa but I want to go back and try the normal laksa next time. All in all what I like most is the authentic quality of it all. That made up for a ridiculously hot dish. But folks just came down on that heat please.

How badly have I been wanting to try Spit and Roast? VERY!…read more I love a good chicken sandwich. In fact, I love a crappy chicken sandwich (there are reasons why a Zinger Tower Burger at KFC rocks at midnight after you've been drinking all night). So I was really hoping that Spit and Roast could bring all my chicken sandwich expectations into delicious, mouth exploding goodness. Man, did they live up to my expectations. They were serving a chicken sandwich with Korean hot sauce and a bit of Asian coleslaw (with peanuts). The sandwich looked great. It tasted even better. The hot sauce was hot (but not too hot) and the coleslaw with the peanuts came through like a champ. The chicken was cooked incredibly well with a delicious crispy batter and a soft, juicy inside. This was no dry sandwich, my friend. The only downfall was it was pretty tall and difficult to eat without getting sauce all over myself, but I didn't care, I just dug right in. It is so easy to screw up chicken, but these fellas, they do it right. And I hope that I'll be able to fill my face with their delicious sandwiches again. And again. (And possibly again for good measure.) Oh, they're a Kerb trader so look out for them at King's Cross. Or UCL when Kerb is around there. Or the Gherkin if Kerb manages to convince the City of London that Kerb traders aren't a blight upon their commercial ways.
