FINALLY.
That's all I had to say when I finally found the Lucky Chip van in Netil Market...open. I had come here twice before looking for the elusive Lucky Chip, but the first time they were closing an hour earlier than they said online, and the second time they weren't there for some reason. THEN I went another time to find them at their other home, Sebright Arms. This time, I checked their Facebook feed to make sure they were indeed going to be there. No updates saying otherwise? Check. Got to the bar. They aren't there. Apparently they had updated their twitter feed, but not the FB feed. For a joint that basically thrives off social media, NOT COOL. One star off (should be more) for the combined round trip bus rides I took on my failed LC excursions.
So. Learn from my mistakes. Check ALL their social media sources and be careful when seeking them out (plus ignoring criticism on social media, another community management nono... but what can you do?).
Yet still four stars? It is a good burger, what can I say? Their menu changes frequently, but the burgers are unique and juicy and not something one can eat gracefully without tons of napkins (aka, the way a good burger should be!). Yea, the queue can be really long, yea, you might have to wait a while for your burger... but if the weather is good, its ok.
My burger was called Kelly Lebrock: nice fluffy brioche bun, juicy burger, salty bacon, spinach (the healthy bit), caramelized red onion (with still enough bite to visibly be onions), and cream cheese. That's the yummy and decadent (if not strange) bit. And it was delicious. I want one now. Too bad they didn't have their truffle oil chips on that day, my flatmate said they were amazing.
Any street food fan will like this place if they can find it (and LC get their social media management in order!). Yea, I'd say it is worth the wait, especially if you can snag one of the few tables in the sunshine. read more
