Pocono Axe Works was a big hit even with our sore shoulders. After checking in and verifying that we signed our waivers, we were led to our lane with two targets. Our helpful staffer gave a quick rundown of safety procedures and also a short tutorial of how to throw. We watched and learned and it was our turn. Both my friend and I have done this before but it was quite some time ago. It took a while to get the hang of getting the right rotations on the axes, and with the different weights of them, I found that I preferred one over the others. But we played multiple games using the scoring of the World Axe Throwing League. 10 rounds, one throw a round. In the end, we were at five games each as winners. One game we only used our less dominant hand to throw which was funny. We inquired about a different game and was told about "Around the World" where you have to score from one to the bullseye and then back to one and lastly a kill shot. I got to the bullseye and finally hit it while my friend got to the five-point before we decided our shoulders were just giving out. You can bring food and beer/drinks in, and we each had two Yuengling Hershey's Chocolate Porters as we did our thing. We had some great conversation and laughs. Others were coming in consistently as we were there on this Saturday, and they also have leagues you can sign up for. If you're in a large group, you may want to try and rent multiple lanes as the time it takes for your turn could be long and you are quick to throw. Kinda like bowling. I'd recommend coming with one friend for the practice and then doing the whole group thing. The single staffer was attentive with everyone and friendly. The facility also has a "gift shop" selling clothing and pillows and other stuff. My friend and I had a great time overall. $112 for a two-person two-hour rental including tax.

One of you can leave and come back but if you all leave you cannot come back. Not bad really if you get about two hours or more play time out of it. There is a food area that sells snack type food if you didn't bring your own. Mandatory to take shoes off but not sure why if you do not engage with the equipment. I have a degenerative condition in my right foot so next time I'm not taking my shoes off. Also, you are basically forced into the bathroom without shoes on, which I feel is extremely unsanitary. I'd leave and come back if I had to because you'll never catch me in a public bathroom with just my socks on. Staff up front was alright, kind of nice, but brisk and to the point. Inside the staff basically ignore you and don't interact with any out of line kids. Parents come to let the kids blow off steam and kind of forget to keep them following any rules, so you need to pay attention to slightly younger kids to keep them from getting hurt. Overall not bad but not all that amazing either. Staff need to be more involved and the no shoe policy is a fail if you don't use the equipment.

Both explicitly stated they open at 11:00 AM.When we arrived at 11:00 AM, we were turned away and told they had a private event and wouldn't open until 12:30 PM. The staff member rudely told me I "should have checked Facebook," because Facebook had the correct hours. It is completely unreasonable to expect paying customers to bypass an official website and phone line to hunt for updates on social media. If your hours are conditional on private parties, your website and automated phone system must state that.Worse than the scheduling error was the staff's attitude. The girl working was snappy, defensive, and confrontational. When I mentioned that I had called their number, she accused me of lying and claimed she had "been here all morning and the phone didn't ring." Even after I literally showed her the call log on my screen, she refused to apologize. Instead, she doubled down with, "Well, I can't help it, those are our hours."When I asked for a manager, she claimed she was a manager, before giving me the name Paul (who is apparently on vacation for a couple of weeks). If she is indeed in a management role, her complete lack of customer service skills and combative attitude is a terrible reflection of this business.All it would have taken to resolve this was a simple: "I am so sorry for the confusion and the website error, we have a private event this morning." Instead, we were met with attitude and disrespect. We will not be returning to an environment that treats families this way.

The staff were all incredibly accommodating, ensuring my child and I felt welcomed and comfortable as soon as we walked in the door. The learning activities kept my child engaged throughout the entire class time. The instructors design learning opportunities that genuinely enrich the children. The facilities are continuously cleaned and well-maintained. The ability to schedule classes on their website is easy. There are also community resources for new parents like childbirth and breastfeeding classes. Owl & Friends is such a welcome addition to the family-friendly nature of Honesdale!

He would randomly drop down to say hello and it made our hearts melt. When feeding time came around he was the main attraction. Seeing the kids interact with him paid for the price of admission. The kids loved the cockatoo's and any other bird that would talk. Watching my five year old try to have a convo with them made us laugh. They had a lot of gorgeous animals - lynx, cute prairie dogs, male and female African lions, jags, leopards, a tiger, bobcats, etc. The Eagle Owl they had was one of my favorites. What a beautiful animal. Stunning. They have an enclosed reptile area with over a half dozen snakes, lizards and a few spiders. The bathrooms were large and kept up with for the most part. The trails were easy to follow, so I'd imagine it's hard to get lost. The staff was nice, seemed passionate and caring for the animals. Cons: Only one bathroom near the front entrance. It's not a huge park, but it would be nice to have more options. Lack of flat pathways. After days of rain there were lots of puddles and running water because the park is not totally flat. Rocks and roots are exposed so be mindful if you're not steady on your feet. Some of the animals are hard to see because the protective plastic was fogged up. May have been the temp changes. Their food area could use a face lift. They offer food for eat in but we passed and found someplace outside the park. Their retail store had a lot of items (tons of stuffed animals) but we skipped this go around. We would return. The kids enjoyed the park. We spent about two hours there and felt it was worth the money. Remember this is a small zoo in the Poconos, not a large City zoo. Thanks guys!
