When exploring it was very difficult to navigate as there was little to no signage for the trails. We explored around back as the lodge was closed. All of the animals were relocated elsewhere, which I prefer personally seemed very small of an establishment to maintain any animal life. There is a short walk to the back field and there is an awesome 6-story treehouse that you can go in and climb around. We explored for a bit and went on our way. Definitely a neat feature to check out for a quick time kill.

It was impressive that a group of students built the structure, and my kids had fun running around and scaring each other at each turn. :) There is a lovely field near the nature center with a pollinator garden, so if we had more time, we would've spent time running around there too. I was sad to see that the animal habitats were empty with signs that this was due to a lack of funding. Please support this awesome nature center!

No autism allowed. Also if the staff dont like a book or anything you bring because it isn't godly enough or has any other religion or culture in it they will take it and destroy it. Full disclosure- i work at Path of life camp, this is in response to negative reviews to provide…read moresome insight and context to the complaints- First, we have literally thousands of people through our barn every year, we have nothing to hide and no way to hide it if we did. Unlike many stables that would just send senior horses and hard keepers to the meat auction, we keep our horses through the end of their retirement and natural lives. The gray "powder" mentioned was over 30 years old when the video was posted, and hes still alive and well- we had his teeth regularly inspected, but at that age, they are no longer growing to be floated, instead just being lost as they age- therefore he doesnt eat a lot of hay, but is on a senior ration and supplements. Because of his age and weight, of course he wasnt being worked, just free range exercise, thats a big part of the reason why his topline was in such poor condition. Nobody has to take my word for it, we're an open facility for anybody to come through and see our largely overweight herd for themselves. As for the comments on the facilities and security of our summer camp, its important to keep in mind that this was a teen camp, yes, parents are allowed on campus during the week, but campers are supervised such that while they can be easily found, they cant be just snatched from their group. Within seconds of their arrival, they were greeted by a director and guided to their childrens location. For the facilities, theres no question that there were areas greatly in need of updating, including the bathrooms which were in an incomplete remodel- parts had been done but the shower floors had not yet been resurfaced. This work has since been done. The beds in the dorms have also since been replaced. Even at the time, the mattresses were sanitized every week and intended to be covered in camper-supplied sheets, as indicated in the packing list. In regard to being "packed like sardines" this is flatly untrue, the local health department had required empty bunks and 6 feet of spacing between as a covid precaution, about 60% of the bunks were totally empty. Again, dont just take my word for it- while we're hardly the ritz, the camp is aggressively fundraising and working hard to rescue the facilities from decades of dereliction, and welcome visitors to judge the progress and current conditions for themselves.

They had full size replicas of Native American longhouses, a museum type room with tons of stuffed animals that represent the indigenous fauna of the region. They always held an annual spooky woods walk for Halloween. Once I got older the trails were ideal for walking around in search of places to raise a bit of Hell. I also attended a summer day camp here when I was probably seven and remember it fondly.

Zoe was a joy to ride with! So friendly and chatty with great knowledge of the trails and the…read morehorses. I took a two-hour ride on waffles, a joy of a Belgian draft to ride. With my experience level, we were able to do decent bursts of cantering uphill, and Waffles has quite the motor for a draft! there is such a variety of horses and sizes that there is likely a personality to fit any person (within reason). on the hilltop boogie ride, the farm we passed through was beautiful and it was fun to see the other animals. The trails were beautiful as well, with red-tailed hawks soaring overhead, bucks leering at us warily through the trees, and various other critters to spot from the trail. All the staff was friendly, sharing jokes and quips before and after the ride when we passed by. The solo fee is extremely reasonable, as was the price of the ride itself. For those who haven't experienced it, the creek crossing would be fun! I guide beginner trail rides for work in Pennsylvania, and I learned a few helpful tricks and ideas to implement over there. I can confidently recommend this facility, and Zoe as a guide!

Here's why: Erika, the owner, takes the time to learn about each prospective rider before you come so she can pair you with the perfect horse. So be sure and take the time to let them know in the online questionnaire how you are with horses and riding. I'm a confident rider and got a great horse for me where my husband isn't as confident rider and he was paired with a sweet easy going horse, Faye. Actually all the horses are sweet and wonderful. We did a one hour trail ride. The trail was fun - not too challenging and we even got to stop by a beautiful creek so the horses could take a drink. It's absolutely magical & no better way to see the beauty of this region. Now the horses: They are all beautiful, very healthy and thus happy. You can get to know them on the Painted Bar Stables website! Many are rescued and have been revitalized by being in this wonderful place. I can't wait to return.

A very special place. It's so cool to see kids spending their summer outside, with hundreds of…read moreother kids, without cell phones! When the focus is making sure the campers have an awesome experience, it's hard to have a bad time yourself. There's a genuine camaraderie with the staff as we all live and work and spend time off together. Everyone really pitches in to help each other out and boost each other up! Leadership is approachable, the grounds are beautiful, and it really feels like a home away from home.
