This review is more for my husband. I am not a chicken person, so I would never chose to eat at Popeye's. But... We don't have a Popeye's near us. My husband knew about this location. This is his favorite place to eat (any location). Food was great, service was great, etc. My only negative is that it was FREEZING in the building, my husband is never cold...but he was too. In November, in any building, you shouldn't need your winter coat on to eat. I am sure w'll be back if we're on our way through. read more

Worst service ever!!! Employees apparently run this place, and doing a horrible job!!! Had to wait at drive thru and no one there for at least 5 minutes! Only one car ahead. Then when food came, not correct. Had to go in to get rest of order, and employee very rude!!! Not sure what they are getting paid for!!! I give this Popeyes a fat big ZERO!!! read more

Just needed to pick up a door dash order and the doors are locked workers just sitting around doing nothing pulled to the drive through no answer they close at 11 it's currently 9:30 read more

Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen - Working just sitting there door is locked it's 9:30 they close at 11 I had a door dash order and couldn't take it cause of some lazy workers - Fast Food Near Me - Waterloo, Iowa

The chicken was extremely thin like it wasn't even chicken all twisted up. I have had Popeyes in many locations and this was by far the worst. Mashed potatoes were good and tea was good; only reason for 2 stars. Go somewhere else for lunch read more

The wait time at this point establishment was nothing short of abysmal despite the lack of any real line, and then upon receiving the food, I was met with the taste of chemicals in the chicken, a cupcake so devoid of softness that it was comparable to a brick, and a dried out clump of cheese that took up at least a 1/3 of the cup of mac and cheese. As for the ambiance, the music was so horrendously loud that having a conversation without shouting was near impossible without being within mouth-to-mouth distance. I would sooner die then ever find myself back in this building. read more

The kids running the place had the dining room door locked so they wouldn't have to do anything. It was only 6 pm, and their posted hours were they were open to 10pm Lazy butts!! read more

Food was eatable. Store was filthy. Service was slow and not motivated. Music was VERY LOUD RAP. Never again here! read more

Ordered through door dash and was wondering what is as taking so long since they're open till 11:00pm. I get a message from my dasher saying that the workers said that the place was closed and that they were refusing to take any order and were being flat out rude. All I know is I will never go to this popeyes again. Someone needs to do a check up on this establishment because after reading some of the reviews, I guess this is not the first time that they've refused orders way before closing time. read more

I ordered spick chicken and paid for nothing. I returned this chicken because it looked over cooked and old. The store said this is how it's coming to our Popeyes. Sad read more

Where to start? HORRIBLE SERVICE. you never know what you're gonna get when you pull into popeyes. Will you be able to place your order in the drive through or will you be inconvenienced to go into the restaurant to wait 30 minutes? Will you only be able to mobile order OR will they have no chicken because " the cook forgot to lay it out" all in all if you are looking for good customer service dont go to popeyes!! Employees are too busy hanging in the parking lot smoking pit to give a rats ass about working or getting your order in a timely fashion. read more

I'm a Door Dash driver, and my experience with this Popeyes was horrible. I was picking up two orders on 3/13/25, and had to wait 20 minutes for one of the orders. Also, a woman came in as I was waiting. After about 10 minutes of her waiting I asked if she was waiting for an order - she said no she hadn't even been asked for her order. The total lack of customer service skills demonstrated by the crew there was very evident. I couldn't recommend this place less. read more

This is new and improved Popeyes let me tell six years I left abad review, but I am pleasantly surprised. The manager was knowledgeable. She took our order. She also waited on us to go have a seat and she will bring us our was clean nobody was sitting around everything picked up. The bathrooms was clean. The food was hot. Everything was 10 out of 10 this was a pleasant spirit. I would like to think all the staff at Popeyes think the new general manager for doing her job and making this experience great thank you so much. I will most definitely visit Popeyes again in Iowa because of this experience. read more

Bro this place never has anything in stock, they close early randomly, and the staff is so flat and rude. No napkins, no straws, half of the order is wrong. Consistently. Who even runs this place? read more

if I could put a zero I would. Came around 9:55 and no one would answer the drive thru. We sat there for 7 minutes. Went up to the window and they said they didn't have any food but two Choices because there was no other cook. Wish they at least would have told us at the drive thru before we wasted our time thinking the mic was broke or something... so so bad. read more

My daughter's first night back from college and this was her request. Never ever have I experienced such a mismanaged disaster. Waited 50 mins and still didn't receive what we ordered. Priority was placed on DoorDash orders over lobby and drive thru. What a mess. Either do better or shut down. What a disaster. Waste of time and money. read more

When we got their thry ask to wait for a minute brfore ordering, we did for 10 minutes. Then i asked if they were ready yet and the lady working rudely said no. It took another 5 minutes before anyone helped. We pulled up to the window and they took at least another 5 minutes before we got all of our food. When I looked and saw that they got the order wrong I politely said something and the lady rolled her eyes and went back to look. When she realized that she was the one who got it wrong she had a bunch of attitude. When she fixed the order she shut the window and said nothing. Worst service I have even experienced and I will not be going back. read more

2 times in the past 2 weeks the store has been closed very early. Once we arrived to pick up a door dash order and was told they didn't have a cook. We had to cancel the door dash. Then again last night at 9 pm we arrived along with 3 other different customers and were told they closed early because the manager wanted to leave for his own dinner plans. read more

If I could give this store 0 stars I would. I am a Door Dasher on occasion and I received no less than at least 3 orders while trying to get service at this store on September 1, 2022 at approximately 6:30 PM. Each order was subsequently denied and rejected by the manager and had to be declined and turned away. I will never return to this store or any other Popeye's ever again because of the venom and hate spewed by the employees at this establishment. They flat out refused service at the end and mocked me and told me they didn't want my business. The string of Profanity they used towards me was reprehensible and would have made Samuel Jackson blush. I am a mild mannered individual and was completely respectful up until the end. Did I mention I was on the phone the entire time with Door Dash help center trying to get my dashes resolved the entire time Popeye's employees treated me the way they did? I was shocked and embarrassed by their behavior towards me as a customer and a representative of countless other potential customers through Door Dash. It was a mob and gang mentality with the Manager leading the employees in yelling at me and mocking me. Because of my shock at their behavior I was left stammering and stuttering my disbelief as I left. The girl at the register then proceeded to mock my speech impediment with a mock stutter "D... d... dd... d..." Take your business to KFC on Kimball Ave instead. The employees by comparison at KFC there were angelic and absolutely respectful read more

Good afternoon, today at approximately 1:15 or so I was at one of your stores located in Waterloo Iowa! I had just got off the highway and I wanted a spicy chicken sandwich. At the drive thru window I gave the young lady my order, she asked me if I wanted a combo. I replied what does the combo consist of, "she said it's on the menu" I said couldn't U just tell me what it is she replied in a very negative sarcastic tone "CANT U READ" and she laughed! She caught herself and started telling me what the sides were. I pulled out of line out of disgust and furious anger. I didn't get the female employee name, but she was working the drive thru at that specific time, she's a light complexion black female and she smiled at me thru the window she either has a gap tooth top front or a tooth missing! I was very appalled and humiliated, I will never stop at this particular location again! read more

Read lots of reviews that steered us clear. Decided we need to see for ourselves. Not sure what everyone was talking about, it was clean, food was fresh and delicious, the service was top notch! We'll be back! read more

The employees here are the rudest group of people I've experienced at a fast food location. I simply asked for my sauce for my sandwich on the side and the woman literally physically rolled her eyes at me. If you don't want to work with people choose a different career! read more

Service was great! Friendly staff! Food was good and hot! Best service I've received since I been in town

It took 5 minutes for them to take a single meal order, 20 minutes to give us the complete wrong order. When we finally realized, I was so sick of waiting that I just went elsewhere instead. I'm not usually one to complain, but come on. read more

We ordered 4 chicken sandwiches through the drive thru, paid, waited and were asked to pull around front. We waited more then decided to go inside and inquire only to find the door locked at 4:30 in the afternoon. So we drove back around to the drive thru and they told us it would be 7 more minutes. We'd already waited 15 minutes for 4 sandwiches. After another 20 minutes of getting nowhere we finally gave up and just left. There were a few people inside although the doors were locked and 4 other cars waiting and circling. I don't think anyine got any food. What a horrible franchise location. I certainly hope the corporate office reads reviews and is thoroughly embarassed about this location. Id give zero stars if possible. Popeyes owes us $22. read more

First, I can't say the people were rude, but certainly not friendly. Ironically, my wife wanted Chick-fil-A and I wanted Popeyes. So we first went through the Chick-fil-A drive up and it was about the best service we've ever gotten! The lady taking order was super nice. Then we went to Popeyes and a completely different experience. I ordered a Chicken Sandwich and it was just "OK", certainly not what I've had from other Popeyes. The french fries were absolutely terrible, soggy and cold. So the food was bad, the service wasn't good and the place looked pretty dirty. As a side note, I don't want to accuse anyone of anything I can't prove, but the same day I used my debit card there, I had an attempt of fraud on my debit card. Popeyes was the only place I had used my card that day. I had to put a freeze on the card and get a new one. Not saying it was connected to my Popeye's visit, but strangely coincidental. read more

Closed early with unhelpful and unapologetic staff. I understand that there are staffing issues, but if you're a sign says 9:00 and you close before you are supposed to, that is not good business. read more

I love their food but their customer service has gotten so bad that I won't be going back. They have the rudest staff I've ever encountered and the customer service is a joke. They let me sit at the drive thru for over ten minutes after saying, "hold on..." There was no apology when I got the window and the girl who just left customers waiting was too busy on her cell phone to do her job. The icing on the cake was getting home to find out my order was wrong. They were so rude and unbothered by by how bad their service was that I can't believe they have jobs. I've been hearing identical stories from other people and if they don't get their act together they're going to go out of business because they'll have no customers. Corporate needs to step in and clean it up. read more

I was considering going to Popeyes today since I haven't eaten there for several years. I was smart enough to read the reviews first, thank goodness. I see it hasn't gotten any better, and actually may be worse than it was before, if that is even possible. Thank you YELP! read more

Popeyes Kitchen in Waterloo Iowa is literally the worst restaurant on the planet. Employees sitting in their cars with headsets on for drive thru. I was first in line and last to get served. Drive thru screen doesn't work. When I got to the window the server had to ask what it was that I ordered and it took five minutes to look up my order. I was asked to pull forward and six customers got served and were forced to go around me in a very narrow driveway. They passed me very angrily that I was in their way. I noticed that people of their same skin got served way faster than I did. Finally, an employee asked why I was parked ahead of the drive thru line and what it was that I ordered? I explained my order and that person finally handed me my order. I would like to say that this restaurant is very poorly managed, but the fact is that it is not managed at all; it is a complete circus. They make food for those they care so to do. These kind of situations stem from the top down. If the regional management do not care, then there is no hope. This place needs a complete overhaul or just close it down. A complete embarrassment on the local community read more
