My review is being placed based on my first experience trying the chicken sandwich. I'm disappointed to say the least. After the hype that has gone around for the last few months and number of assaults that have occurred in the name of said meal, I really expected more. Let's break down my analysis. The chicken: juicy, moist, fried to the correct temperature. The breading has little flavor and would benefit from having more crispiness. The pickle: zero crunch and lacking in flavor. The Mayo/ sauce: not enough to notice any addition to the meal. The bun: honestly the best part about the entire experience. It had a great spongy texture and had just enough buttery coating. When Popeyes put out a notice that they had run out a couple months ago but you could still have a sandwich if you brought your own bun, that was the biggest mistake in fastfood history. The bun is the sandwich in this case I had the rice and beans as a side which as always, delicious. Overall, I am giving this only two stars after going into this day hoping for at least four. I'll return to try the spicy number 9 meal but not until sufficiently inebriated. read more

I see from the lack of reviews over the last 6 months that the ownership is suppressing the reviews OR, people have given up that anything will change. This really pisses me off because I really love the Product, and I can't believe that I have to be subjected to the abysmal service, or drive 10 miles in the opposite direction (at risk of the same poor service, because Bowie is terrible too) to enjoy what I would probably eat a couple of times a week, if they don't raise my blood pressure EVERY SINGLE TIME I go there. The next correct order I get will be the first, I just sit in the drive or stand at the counter and check the order because I HAVE TO, Every time. And the thing is, when I point out that they did not fill the order correctly (usually Very nicely, because that matters), the freaking attitude is off the charts, as if I'm stupid for not allowing them to rip me off....or have to drive back once I get home...ugh.. Stay away if you can, it's good chicken, usually. Can't corporate pull the license of the franchisee if it's bad enough? This is bad. read more

I had issues with this location a few years ago and was hoping they had improved. I asked for mashed potatoes without gravy for my meal and it came with gravy, no jelly or butter for the biscuit and no sauce for the wings. It wouldnt be a big deal if I werent allergic to the beef in the gravy. Wont be coming back for several years at the least. read more

I'm done with this store. Other people have commented about the sticky floor and nasty restrooms and I have observed that many times at this store. Because of my work travels, I ate here about once a week. I don't drink soda and I am a mild diabetic (so coming here in the first place is a cheat lunch), so what I drink is unsweetened iced tea- can't do the sugar. I have had three occasions over the (roughly) last two or three months where I was told they were "out of unsweet tea". They were graciously willing to sell me a glass of water for $2.79 since they were out of unsweet tea. One other Popeye's not too far away still has unsweet tea, so it's this franchisee's choice. So- three strikes, right? That was a long time to be "out". Yesterday, I gave them another chance, but they told me they don't carry unsweetened tea anymore. Isn't that a pretty basic item in every fast food restaurant out there? Before I wrote this review, I pulled up that store's menu and I see a new item now- Apple Cranberry unsweetened tea - for "only" $4.49. I just want a glass of regular, good old unsweetened tea. I'm not a big fast food guy, but I I know at McDonalds, Chick-Fil-A, Wendy's and Burger King (to name a few) I can still get an unsweetened tea. If I could give this place ZERO stars I would. They do not have a system down. I try to give it another shot every few weeks when I'm craving Popeye's, but it is the worst run fast food location I have ever been to in my life. Any brand, any city, any state. It's disappointing when you get home & see that you have missing items on your order, and cannot drive back because I live about 30 minutes away and by the time you get there, they would've been closed. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! I ordered a 16pc family meal with 4 sides and 8 biscuits- the pricing was NOT advertised and was shocked at the price of $60.00 for this order. Unfortunately for me, the pricing was the best thing that happened for me and my family Saturday evening. The sides and their respective containers were only 2/3's filled with food. Upon sharing this with the drive thru window individual, they shared that is their norm. I was stunned at their response. Secondly, while still in the drive through line, I asked for a couple of dipping sauces and they shared it would be $.25 for each. I said, ARE YOU KIDDING ME.. You want to charge me extra for two dipping sauces after you just charged me $60 for this meal and you shortchanged me with my sides with an incomplete set of 4 containers of what should be filled to the brim- of food! Please provide me the sauces....you said "No"...that is extra. I asked for the manager and you shared they are there and unavailable. You then threaten to call the police because of my dispute of your restaurants wrongful actions of not fulfilling my order and clogging up your drive thru lane. The employees are a JOKE...the manager has NO spine whatsoever in trying to provide customer service. Sadly there are no other convenient Popeye's located nearby. One is coming back to Severna Park. People are rude, don't listen, don't provide the quality or amount of food of the previous owners. I's just plain and simple, BAD. The drive through sucks! The app isn't any better. You have to check you order, have them fix it and then check again. I can't begin to tell you how many times I held up the drive through to get things right. THe cashier once told me that it's the manager's fault, then put the order together. They use to add gravy to the bottom, middle and top to ensure you had gravy for all of your mashed potatoes. The sizes have all shrunk for side orders a large used to the 3x a small. Now it might be 1.5x a small. Someone please put the current staff out of our misery and get some honest, respectable severs, cooks and managers in place! And let people come in to order. Fix the app so you can modify your Oder, like ask for extra gravy, etc. The app is worthless. Provide people access to "all deals" including "app specials" because you don't begin to fill them until the customer arrives. So what good is it? This Popeyes is just terrible. They're incredibly slow. Their mobile ordering is always broken or turned off unless you want to order through an app that charges a fee. And their lobby is closed. Horrible! Going through the drive thru at 8:pm with all the lights off to make it look like they're closed was my first impression. I get to the drive thru to find two cars ahead of me, they proceed and no one is in front of me and I am told to "hold on" instead of being greeted at the speaker. Finally, I was able to give my order, I am then told that they are out of fries, onion rings, apple pies, but they had chicken - thank goodness. I pull up to the window, again no greeting just the total. I am handed my order, and the gentlemen walks away. I look in the bag to locate utensils for my coleslaw and macaroni and cheese, can't find any and no napkins. So I wait for another few minutes, I overhear one gentlemen ask another if the fries are almost done - that alone is bothersome. I try calling out politely to the two gentlemen (one whose pants kept falling down because he didn't have a belt) and the other who "helped" me at the window. I am ignored... I continue to wait only to be handed the order for the person behind me. I decline and said, I just need a few forks. They were handed to me and I left. I would never wish this kind of service to anyone, the management team should be ashamed that the face of the company at this location had zero interest in helping me, the lack of customer service is appalling, and there isn't a care in the world because this treatment is acceptable to the manager on duty. Lastly, why was this location out of so many things, but just for our order? It is sad to see an establishment like this with workers who just don't care... Popeye's is a large chain that serves "Louisiana" style deep fried chicken. It's not the healthiest of foods (or fast foods) but it is GOOD! Especially when served with their red beans & rice and a few jalapeno peppers. The food at this location is typical. I've been here many times and often have to wait while fresh chicken is prepared. Usually not a problem. If you're in a real hurry there is a better than 50% chance that you'll be waiting. I've noticed recently the servings of the red beans with rice, potatoes etc have decreased in size. The "sides" containers are filled just over half and considerable space is left. The red beans and rice I had a couple of days ago amounted to 5 spoons from the container. The staff here are friendly and interactive. The problem is with the physical plant. It is old, worn and needs updating (at least a cleaning). In addition, the men's room is awful! It stinks, there is old built up dirt in the corners of the rest room and the base of the toilet is filthy. There is "liquid" in the floor. The hand washing area lacks soap. I've uploaded pics that I took. It makes one think what is behind the counter in the food prep / cooking area? If I had gone into the Men's room prior to ordering ... I would have left. read more

I understand that their chicken sandwich is very popular right now, causing lines and shortages. But a long line around the restaurant that does not move for 20 plus minutes seems excessive. I left. I tried again a few days later, line still long, but at least it was moving. I was annoyed because the order intercom was so bad, it is a wonder I was able to order at all. And In addition, I was'nt even there for the chicken sandwich! I ordered the buttermilk shrimp box for $5. They were out of that kind of shrimp, and said that all they had was butterfly shrimp. OK. To add insult to injury, when I went to order my drink, they said that there were no fountain drinks then, the machine was broken.
