There are many faux-meat options as well as more veggie based options and I think everything was well seasoned and delicious. I tried the beyond burger (teriyaki), fish ball curry, as well as the Hainanese chicken. I think the most impressive dish was the chicken because it looked the part and tasted good. The texture was on all the items was decent but you can definitely tell it's not meat - but I think it was definitely good enough if you consider the effort that went into creating the full dishes. You can grab food or snacks to-go in the little market place they have, or you can dine in with their very large menu of vegan and vegetarian options. The service is super friendly and the menu is easy to read and order from. There's also a huge diversity of items from Asian to more Western items you can most likely get your fix here. I loved the quotes on the wall and how they try to educate people about the food they serve as well as the impact that it makes. If you're in HK I'd highly recommend checking out one of their many locations around the city.

Given the limited choices for my vegan friends, this is a pretty decent restaurant. This super casual restaurant is canteen styled. You know like your average Ikea restaurant. It's nestled in the corner of Mong Kok's new shopping arcade, The Forest so it's not too busy. Which means you can sit for awhile and catch up on friend time. The seats aren't the comfiest, and the tables are small. But it'll do. It's Mong Kok after-all. There's chargers by the benches for you to charge up that mobile... or... laptop! Looking for a vegetarian bao to settle that "bao crave"? Why yes they have it!

Not sure what some other reviewers' problem is but I had an awesome time! Coming from America,…read morethere aren't too many vegetarian buffets or vegetarian places (that aren't salads) in general. So it was totally amazing to eat here! Concerning the service, we are in HK and if you want good service, you go to a place in central where all the non-natives go, otherwise the service was expected for a place that does not require a service charge. In fact there were quite nice and helpful. I found the reusing of the plates quite convenient and environmentally friendly actually and as long as we all try our best to not touch the serving utensils onto our used plates, there isn't a problem. Common courtesy people! P.s. a lot of HK restaurants send their dishes out to be washed by another company (so they don't have to higher a dishwasher which is a grueling job) so they are limited by the number of plates everyday. It doesn't look like it but there was actually a surprising number of options. They don't roll out large heapings of food each time so they run out pretty quick but the staff replaces empty items pretty quick. Overall, the place was awesome and i would definitely go there again!

The other staff members who refilled the buffet hot and cold tables kept getting into the way of the customers. Staff should let the customers fill their plates first before wiping the counters or refilling trays. Quite unprofessional. Not a lot of buffet selections. The cold selections are better than hot. Self-serve. Fill your own tea/water and retrieve your own utensils. When you're finished, bring all the items to a designated area. Clientele seems to be a lot of youngsters. It's a trendy spot for sure = pricey. Their policy is for customers to reuse the same plate/bowl when refilling as a way to cut down on washing dishes. This method is unhygenic for buffet purposes. Cross-contamination between the leftovers on the person's used plate and the serving spoon/forks at the buffet table could occur. They didn't verbally inform us how long the dining time limit was (edit: checked my photos after and it's 90 minutes for dinner). However, we noticed the aforementioned staff going to each table occasionally to check the timestamps on their bills. So anal of the staff to do this. I wouldn't recommend this place unless you like trendy hip places. Go to another vegetarian restaurant instead for better value and a better dining experience. (Update: my dining partner suffered from diarrhea and threw up three times during the night after the meal from this restaurant. Ugh, the restaurant definitely isn't hygienic!!)

Many service staff and all busy but it took us at least 10 minutes for someone to give us a menu. Requested water and it took a good five minutes. Normally in an Indian restaurant the first thing without asking water is served (part of culture). The food took a good 10 minutes as well. The Vegan Thaali which should have been the most simplest meal to serve and come out of kitchen. The food itself was a bit bland for our taste in seasonings. The spice level was low which is OK, but salt was too low. Surprisingly no pickle was served which could have solved both shortcomings. The Chappatis were OK and were not super fresh. The Vegan Masala Dosa took even longer to come out which was more surprising for us well. A South Indian restaurant normally the dosas are one of the quickest to come out. The dosa was also unevenly cooked - one side was well done, middle was perfect and the other side a little under done. Chutneys and sambhar were good. Their definition of vegetarian states that there is no dairy which is incorrect and vegan talks about eggs or meat but does not include any mentions of dairy.

Same goes for the masala of the masala dosa. The sambhar, I do a decent job as well. But hey, it's not about me :p Woodlands had good sambhar, the kind I like, with a balance of sweet sour salt, and the lentils not as liquid-y as some places. I like it a bit thick, so this was good. The thali we ordered had nicely done vegetable curries and lentils, all of them, rassam, dal, a dry potato capsicum sabzi, a vegetable kurma curry and more. The puris were crisp and soft all at the same time, and not oily. The dosas were good. As a general rule of thumb, they're the most fool-proof things you can order at a South Indian restaurant. It has to be made fresh. The uttapam was OK. Nothing bad about it. Nothing great about it either. More photos and details on blog - nycbonvivant[dot]wordpress[dot]com. Link in profile.
