The woman working when I went in with my mother was super nice. I believe all the jewelry is handmade and there are some really cool items. I ended up buying what looks like a green sparkling cluster of grapes pendant and some cat earrings. My mother got me a pig bracelet which is super neat. I did find the earrings a bit hard to wear - struggled with fitting them in my ear and ended up giving them to my mother. I adore the bracelet - very unique. Prices are fantastic for cool and quirky jewelry. I can't wait to go back and pick up some Christmas gifts!

Tiny Island Beach Glass takes the word "tiny" to a whole new level. It's a tiny, wedge-shaped shop…read morebarely large enough to fit more than two people comfortably inside. That makes it especially charming. I was really taken with the beautiful pieces of glass shards made into very wearable jewelry. I was expecting a store like this to have more "beach" items such as shells and beachwear, but oddly enough, was happy it didn't. Although TBIG does carry the Greasypole brand of t-shirts and general gift items, it wasn't enough to make the shop seem like a typical tourist-trap. Perhaps an advantage of having such a small shop is the opportunity to be more selective in your inventory by focusing on things that are usable or wearable over time rather than for a moment or two after your holiday has long ended. Unfortunately, the prices were pretty steep for what equates to colored glass; and that did give me pause, but probably won't stop me from coming by again when I have more time and early in the day before the crowds have me waiting in line to get inside.

I was having a private QUIET whispering conversation with my fiancé about items in the store and seeing which one he liked for a set of earrings. The man behind the counter chimes into said conversation by saying, "yeah that piece is so nice" Annoyed--so i put back the earring and proceed to the small display of rings. just staring at them. He again says" we have that moonstone ring over here as well in other colors and in gold and in many sizes--he kept pushing and pushing the item no matter what angle you said that you weren't interested or were looking for something different. Again we move to another part of the store and the woman hollers out for us to go up stairs and how amazing it is up there. 'I reply, we've already been up stairs" This was our cue to leave. I'm sorry -- THIS IS NOT CUSTOMER SERVICE. you're trying wayyyy to hard to be something you're not. Leave the hippy bit for someone else. We're locals and don't need you passive aggressively trying to sell us the same sterling silver junk and chotsky trinkets that have been in your store for ages. If we needed help, we would ask.

The men's section takes up about 1/4 of the store and children's section less but you can find great used jeans including Levi's and some designer brands in a big range of sizes. You can even find housewares here if you like vintage decor. I recommend this store to anyone coming from the city or out of state because it's the last vestige of the more wild and arty culture that used to thrive in Gloucester in the 70's thanks in part to the store owner himself. The place really should be a historical landmark because of how much it has improved the culture of Gloucester. The owner is known for these incredibly imaginative fashion shows that over the years have raised money for good causes like the restoration of city hall downtown. His store is like a public art piece that's totally authentic. If you are an appreciator of that then you will enjoy supporting this business.
