Pop Fiction was AMAZING and the talk of my son's wedding. The sound quality, energy and engagement with the crowd and with our son and his bride were fantastic! The dance floor was filled to capacity from their first song until their EPIC ending with Mr. Brightside. We had the time of our lives. Thank you Pop Fiction! Hope to have you at our daughter's wedding! read more

Pop Fiction played our recent party and were fantastic. Our guests raved about how good the band was. Dan and the band were easy to work with. You're going to have a great time if you hire them. read more

Pop Fiction (10 piece configuration) played our wedding on July 16, 2021! They were FANTASTIC. Dan energetically MC'd the day - and managed the music at the ceremony and during the cocktail hour. After dinner - Dan kicked off the dancing and the band got going in earnest. They absolutely MADE THE PARTY! Of course they sounded great - but it was the energy and the interaction with our guests that made it special, fun, exciting and absolutely memorable. Dan had something for everyone - traditional, soul, big-band, modern. Anything and everything we asked for - they played it. The horns popped, rhythm drove and the vocals were clear and beautiful and we had the best time of our lives. Thinking of a DJ for your wedding or event? Well Don't! You're not going to serve your guests with plastic sporks - so don't pass up the opportunity to have live music. And you can't do better than Pop Fiction. read more

Pop Fiction - Everybody rocking to Pop Fiction at the Wedding! - Musicians Near Me

Not sure there's a better cover band in the Bay Area. Pop Fiction absolutely killed it for our wedding in July 2021. Our venue was at a winery in Sonoma and never once did I have to worry about the band. Dan MC'd the whole night and also ran the music during cocktail hour and also had great sound for the ceremony with wireless mics so everyone could hear easily. The band was very interactive with the guest through the whole evening and everyone was dancing and having a great time. If you're looking for a band who plays the Horah, look no further. This was the best part of the night and Pop Fiction just kept on playing while people were dancing. We had the 7 piece version of Pop Fiction which was perfect but they go up to 9 piece with horns and I'm sure they sound even better. Guests keep raving about how great the band was and how much fun they had. Everyone knows a band is better than a DJ for a wedding and I'm very glad we had Pop Fiction there to kick ass and ensure everyone had a fantastic time. read more

For Pop Fiction's performance, I have witnessed this band in two company party events already. They are the legit deal!! They perform music from 70's - 80's -90's and are great with their performance. The band members all sing and can get their grove on. Haha. They play their instruments well and all in sink! They choose the right music to get the crowd going! I hear big companies hire them for their special events. I just wish we could afford them but they are big time performers! I found out how much they charge and won't be able to hire them for any event in my life time! ;-) Can't wait to see them perform again in the future!! read more

Pop Fiction - Musicians Near Me

We hired Pop Fiction (7 piece band but you can go up to 9 piece. Our venue was in the Santa Cruz Mountains so 7 was enough) to be our live band at our wedding. They are highly recommended by our SEM and owner of Nestldown where we got married. Dan is very easy to do business with. He listened to everything that we were trying to accomplish for our big day. He also gave us great suggestions aside from having a wide array of songs that they can perform. If they do not know a particular song that you want, they will learn it for you. That's how professional these guys are. They made our celebration so much FUN!!! All our guests loves them! A bunch of them even said that they are At least one of the BeST bands that they ever heard. The energy and the vibe that they give was definitely top notch! Every single guests (from 3years old to 86!) were on the dance floor that night! Thank you Dan and Team for making our wedding day an event to remember! read more

Pop Fiction is AWESOME!!! They took care of everything for our daughters wedding, The ceremony music, mic's, cocktail hour music and of course the band for dancing. One of the best wedding bands I have ever seen. Everyone was on the dance floor all night. We are from the East coast and worked with Dan for our daughters destination wedding. He was so helpful and what a night!!!! I really can't say enough about this band and Dan. I'm still tired from dancing all night!! read more

Pop fiction did an INCREDIBLE job as our wedding band. Not only are their vocalists and musicians phenomenal, but they put together an awesome set list with suggestions/input from my husband and I, played several Jewish dance songs, and knew how to get folks on the floor. Dan was a great MC and wonderful and responsive point of contact for the band. Finally, definitely pay for the sax - he was arguably the star of the show and absolutely crushed it. So many folks came up to us and commented on what a great band they were and people danced through to the end of the night! read more

What a fabulous band to play at our wedding celebration! Our guests could not stop raving about them and so many of them said they felt like they were at a concert. All of us danced all night-literally!-which was important to us as hosts who love to dance with each other and others. Moreover Dan took the trouble to help with the religious music for our traditional Jewish wedding and to learn music for some traditional Israeli dancing with the horah. He is wonderful to work with and the band members are not only talented but lovely people. read more

Pop Fiction was AMAZING and we could not be more thrilled with our experience. We reached out to Dan early in our wedding planning process. He took the time to learn more about us as a couple and to truly understand our vision for our wedding day. Our musical selections took some coordinating and teamwork with other vendors and we were beyond impressed with Dan's professionalism, easy communication, and ability to execute our vision to perfection. Dan met us at our venue before the wedding to review set up and confirm the details of our AV needs. The band learned not one but two new songs for us and their performance was incredible. In sum - phenomenal band, guests LOVED their performance, and a fantastic working experience with pure professionalism, enthusiasm, and creativity. THANK YOU Pop Fiction! read more

Pop Fiction is the absolute best!!! We were married this past Saturday (August 24, 2019) at Solage in Napa Valley. Our entire wedding was incredible (I know all grooms say that), but what made the party, was Pop Fiction! Dan and his team are a class act and incredibly talented. We chose music selections from every genre/decade of their list, and they knocked every one of them out of the park! Our guests danced all night long. I will recommend Pop Fiction to any and everyone having an event in the region. Rob and Mel read more

Pop Fiction is amazing! They performed at our wedding in August and had everyone on the dance floor all night.....need I say more? We had a group of guests from 30-75 years old, and everyone had so much fun....they're still talking about it. I can't recommend them more highly! Dan, the manager (and a member of the band), was professional and responded quickly to questions and requests....he was easy and nice to work with. Pop Fiction has a great play list and range and they bring high energy and enthusiasm to their show. It's a safe assumption that you're looking for a band if you're reading this: if so, book them immediately! read more

Due to COVID, we were unfortunately unable to have Pop Fiction at our "minimony," but I wanted to give them 5 stars for being amazing people. Based on our contract, they did not have to refund us our deposit when we found out we could no longer use them as we had hoped, but they returned it anyway. Can't thank them enough for doing the right thing during a very difficult time for everyone!! read more

Pop Fiction is so incredibly talented, and their energy was such a huge addition to our wedding!! They can sing in Spanish, and were able to learn 2 songs specifically for us, which was a incredible perk for us! They honestly brought down the house, and everyone kept telling me how amazing our wedding band was! Dan also was incredible with helping us throughout the night, from managing the music for the ceremony to MC-ing our dinner toasts and the events throughout the night. There were a few less-than-perfect moments leading up to the wedding that I want to notify anyone of if they are thinking of booking Pop Fiction: 1. They asked us to sign a contract for a 4 hour performance even though it was only 2 2. They had a few hidden fees and rules for band accommodations that we found out from our venue and not from the band. One required an additional charge, and the other changed something that was pretty important to my fiance. 3. They forgot to learn our first dance song until a few weeks before. The execution at the end of the day was truly wonderful, but the lead-up was pretty stressful. 4. The set-list that they gave us beforehand ended up being too long, which meant that they cut some songs from our set on the fly that were really important to our families. All in all, the band is truly wonderful and incredibly talented. These negatives almost pale in comparison to the show that they gave at the end of the day. People LOVED it. But interacting with the band before the wedding ended up being a bit more difficult than I would have liked. read more

If you want to have an amazing band at your wedding, you seriously do not need to look any further. They played for our wedding at the Julia Morgan Ballroom this past June and booking them was one of the best decisions we made in planning the wedding. I've been to a lot of weddings and seen a lot of wedding bands, and Pop Fiction blew every other band out of the water. Our guests have not stopped sending us emails raving about the band. We had pretty high expectations and the band thoroughly surpassed them. Our guests were out of their seats and dancing from the minute the first song started until the entire wedding was over. The sound was great, the energy was great, and they were so easy to work with. Music selection was current (i.e. Lady Gaga) and the performance was fantastic. Book or go to see them. You won't regret it. read more

I really wanted to give Pop Fiction 5 stars, but there was a BIG mishap that happened during our ceremony. We had Dan do the AV and he assured me things would go smoothly. Well, the mic malfunctioned so our guest didn't hear half my vows and THEN there was horrible feedback once our vocalist started to sing. Dan said this has never happened before and was very apologetic. Still, we just got our video and it was a disruption that could not be edited out - very disappointing. BUT, as a wedding cover band they were AWESOME! All the guest couldn't believe the range of songs they performed. They kept the energy going. We were so pleased with how perfectly they played our first dance song "Lucky in Love" - it was spot on. I would hire them in a minute again, I just wouldn't take the chance to have them work the ceremony. Everyone said how unfortunate it was since our ceremony would have otherwise been lovely. Dan was super responsive and wonderful to work with. read more

Pop Fiction kept the dance floor going from start to finish at our wedding!! Their music and singing was phenomenal. We were so impressed with the range of songs they played for us, something for every guest!! Their energy and passion was so clear and felt by everyone in the room. Dan was awesome to work with throughout the process, always available and easy to coordinate with. Thank you, Pop Fiction, our wedding wouldn't have been the same without you! read more

The BEST cover band EVER!! Pop Fiction played at our 150 guest wedding at the Harvest Inn in St. Helena (Napa) and totally rocked the house! Not only did they provide 3.5 hours of great music, but they also were accommodating to learn a mix of two songs for our first dance. Dan, the band's manager and guitarist, is very responsive and was a pleasure to work with. My husband and I are moving out to San Francisco from Chicago at the end of the year and we know we will definitely be checking out many Pop Fiction shows when we get there. We better, because everyone is still raving about them and hopes we'll take them to see Pop Fiction when they come out and visit. read more

Pop Fiction is the best...hands down. We saw them play several local gigs and were convinced they needed to play our wedding. They came out to Tahoe for our wedding, and it was perfect. Everyone had a blast and they played some of our requested songs with ease. We were so lucky to have them and wish we could get married again just so we could hear them play again. Also, Dan is awesome and super responsive and helpful read more

Pop Fiction was AMAZING at our wedding. To this day (months after the wedding), people continue to rave about them. Dan came and met us at the venue, as they had never played there to make sure we had everything we needed. We unexpectedly had rain, but Pop Fiction was very accommodating and helped us pull off an outdoor ceremony (as they were providing the sound). The reception was high energy and so much fun! They made the extra effort to learn songs for our special dances, which was impressive and so thoughtful. We hated when they had to stop playing due to our venue's sound ordinance. We could have danced to them all night long! read more

What an awesome group! I met Pop Fiction at my sister's wedding six years ago. They rocked so hard that I was thrilled they were available for my wedding this spring! Dan was easy to communicate with and truly wanted to make sure we had a special day. They learned a new song for our first dance, and rocked when the groom and his buddies made a special dance-party request mid-reception. All of our guests were extremely impressed by how great they sounded, and we could not have been happier with the whole experience! read more

I am SO excited to have Pop Fiction perform at my upcoming wedding! Working with Dan is such a pleasure - he's so responsive, has invited us to hear Pop Fiction play at various events and has even allowed my mom to practice with him since she will be singing our first dance song! In addition to being our wedding band, Dan is going to be our emcee and is providing all of the lights to make the venue more beautiful. I am so impressed by this amazing band - I wish they performed at every wedding! read more

My department at Google hired Pop Fiction for a party; they brought down the house! People were literally chanting "ONE MORE SONG!" at the end of their 3 hours on stage. Their set list was a great mix of old and new songs to please a diverse audience of several hundred individuals from the US, Ireland and India. They were great to work with from the logistics perspective as well -- communicative via email/phone, organized, professional, and appropriate. Such a fun show and positive experience overall -- would definitely recommend! read more

Went to an anniversary party last week and was impressed with the band they hired. Pop Fiction had everyone on the dance floor from my 23 month old to the old aunties and uncles -- everyone was gettin' their groove on! I am really picky with music and it really sets the tone for what kind of time I will have. They had my friends and I dancing to EVERYTHING... Pop, rock, 80's, current, etc! My 8 and 5 year olds were dancing until the very end of the party and even wanted their autographs (which were gladly given!). Hubby is only really into hip hop and R&B but even HE said they were EXCELLENT! We had a GREAT time. A few days after I decided to check out their website and found they were playing at Golden Gate Fields (yesterday). I called up some family, friends, and packed up the car with my 3 little ones and spent the day watching them play some good tunes. They know how to get the crowd going. HIGHLY - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! read more

Pop Fiction was amazing. They played at our holiday party for about 1000 people at San Francisco City Hall. They kept the crowd engaged and the music flowed very well and everyone had a blast singing and dancing along. I would definitely book them again for other company parties as well as personal. THANK YOU POP FICTION FOR DOING SUCH AN AMAZING JOB. read more

Pop Fiction played at our wedding this July, and they exceeded our expectations. Dan is so easy to work with, from getting us to see them live prior to booking and then helping along the way to make our day special and memorable. You cannot beat their sound and song selection! Pop Fiction - They learned Into the Mystic for our first dance! - Musicians Near Me

Pop Fiction just played my wedding on Saturday and I cannot say enough good things about them. First, as bride planning a wedding from a different state, they were extremely responsive and easy to work with which is a huge plus. And then on the day of they absolutely KILLED IT! Our first dance was Ray LaMontagne's "Your are the Best Thing." I was worried about a cover version because I love his voice but they really pulled it off and I couldn't have been happier. They kept my guests dancing all night long, completely stuck to my requests as far as "must plays" and "do not plays" and in short, MADE MY WEDDING RECEPTION! My only regret is that I was so busy greeting guests I didn't get as much time on the dance floor as I would have liked. Thanks Dan and crew!!! read more

Great band! Very nice people. They play awesome music, they keep the party going, and people dancing. They're also very honest as a valuable item was left behind they put it aside and let us know so that we could get it back. Very trustworthy :) A+++++ read more

I had pop fiction play at my wedding in July! They were absolutely amazing!! the dance floor was packed the entire reception!!! I couldn't have asked for a better night! I would definitely recommend this band! Dan was also very easy to work with and made it easy for me! read more

HIRE POP FICTION!! YOU WON'T BE SORRY!! They played at my wedding in August, and people are STILL telling me how fabulous the band was. Dan, the band manager, worked closely with me and my wedding planner to ensure everything went off without a hitch! We saved the live band for the reception, but Dan was also in charge of music/sound systems for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner. The band kept the dance floor packed all night!! I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. read more

Pop Fiction played our wedding last weekend and they were incredible. At first, I thought their image was too 'edgy' for the type of event we were trying to throw. Boy, was I wrong. I saw them in person and asked to sign a contract ASAP! The band are totally professional and have massive levels of energy that get the crowd into it. Best decision we made for our wedding. EVERYONE was dancing. We thought our dance floor was too small! A great problem to have! The band played a perfect combination of new, throwback 80s and 90s, and classics (Twist and Shout, etc.) We only told them a few songs that we didn't want played - they came up with the rest of the play list and it was flawless. The compliments kept coming for days. 'Best party ever'. 'The band was incredible'. 'Who actually has a vocoder to sing 'Get Lucky'?!' Pop Fiction, that's who. read more

Party bands are expensive, but they really give your event that extra pow. Nothing gets a crowd excited like live music. And thus, we decided we were going to go with a band rather than a DJ. So, we did our research, as there are many great options in SF, and went with Pop Fiction based on their great reviews, experience and reputation. That said, Pop Fiction totally brought down the house at our private event. They have an incredible play list that will please all generations. We selected hits from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and today, and everyone, from our friends to our parents to our grandparents, loved them! Weddings are family events, and you have to have music that everyone will recognize and enjoy. Pop Fiction is high energy and they sound great. It was awesome dancing our first dance to a live band. It doesn't get better than that! I don't think their mp3 clips on their website do them justice...Listening to the mp3s alone, I already was excited by their quality, but seeing/hearing them live is a totally different matter. They are even better live! Also, they bring in their own lighting that makes the dance floor look absolutely amazing and fun. read more

As a professional musician myself, I don't mind saying that Pop Fiction is hands-down the best party band in the Bay Area. They will play any song, from any genre, and even take special requests. The performance is high energy and super tight, the band is uber-professional, and not to mention they are very kind people who actually CARE about the clients' event. Dan Meblin, the 'mastermind' behind Pop Fiction, runs a handful of NorCal party bands, and every one of them will blow you away. Thanks for the great times and for the inspiration, guys. PARTY ON! read more

Pop Fiction is hands-down the best band in the bay area. I saw them perform at a friend's wedding in 2010 and knew that if I ever got married I'd have to have them perform at mine. All of the band members are extremely talented vocalists and musicians. Their range of songs is incredible and they are able to get everyone from grandparents to teenagers up on their feet and having a ball. We got so many compliments from our guests on how great the band was and how much fun they had at our wedding. Dan was very responsive on email during the preparation process and had everything organized the day of. I didn't have to worry about a thing. He also did the MC duties and everything went smoothly. I can't recommend Pop Fiction enough! read more

Saw this band play at a wedding we were photographing. They were AMAZING! By far the best wedding band I've ever seen. I hope I get to see them at another wedding soon. read more

PopFiction puts on an epic wedding party! It's the sign of a great party when no one wants to leave the dance floor at closing time and that's exactly what happened at ours. If you want your wedding guests to pack the dance floor, then Pop Fiction is the way to go. Simply put, they're amazing!!!! I knew I wanted a live band at our reception. I also knew I wanted a band that could play several different types of music--a little bit of 70s and 80s, some new hits, a little bit 90s (you know you love Jump Around)....just the type of music that makes everybody want to dance. I started my search for live music and was only coming up with bands that had really small playlists (or had a really cheesy feel about them). And then I found Pop Fiction. Oh what a wonderful day. Their song list is endless. And what's even better is they sound incredible. I listened to a few of there tracks online and was sold. I gave Dan a call and immediately had a good feeling about the band and their professionalism. Dan was quick to respond to any question and called/emailed every couple weeks in the months leading up to the wedding to ensure everything was set. The wedding day came, we made our toasts, and it was time to party. The band started playing....and the dance floor was packed. I mean it was packed the entire night. We had 20-80 year olds dancing to "O.P.P". What's more fun than that?????? My wedding was almost a year ago, and I still have people telling me "your band was amazing!". They MADE the reception. Book Pop Fiction if you want happy wedding guests, a packed dance floor, and one big party. read more

I cannot recommend Pop Fiction more highly! Such a fun, energetic band!!! They performed at my daughter's wedding recently and all of the guests were up dancing to every song - all generations!!! Dan is very professional, organized, fun to work with, really knows what works, and very, very talented! Their range of songs is amazing! They cheerfully learned 2 new songs for our event - I think they were better than the originals! No one wanted the night to end because they were having so much fun dancing to Pop Fiction's music. You could not go wrong - Dan responds right away, they arrive early to set up, they interact with the audience & they are all very attractive. Just awesome! read more

Look no further, you've found your band! Pop Fiction played at our wedding and people still can't stop talking about how great they were. Some of their major pluses: 1) Huge repertoire - It was very important to me and my British husband who is 12 years older than me to make sure that there was a great range - 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, current - and some gems like the Cure. 2) Delight to work with - Dan was super responsive, very accommodating, and a total professional. 3) Extremely reasonable $$ - I was recommended a few bands that were at least a $1K more, and they didn't have nearly as many songs on offer or sound half as good. read more
