She asked me if I could help with sound for announcements, music and karaoke. Note that the request was last minute, my sister was getting so many aspects of her daughter's event that sound was not at the forefront of planning. I've done sound, lighting and theatrical productions over the years and have delt with rentals for said equipment from companies like Holzmueller Productions, Adolph Gasser (Permanently Closed), Next Arts Audio Visual Lighting, McCurne AVL and many more. After the recent pandemic, hours have changed or business's have closed , it was difficult to rent sound equipment last minute for the weekend. I was having a very difficult time securing sound equipment for my nieces graduation party. I called several companies but I was not getting any answers like I use to before the pandemic. Now comes the surprise, Bay Area Sound Systems (BASS). I placed a call and was able to speak with Nicholas. I explained that I was looking for a portable speaker, mixer and mic set (something like Fender's Passport System). He understood what I wanted and sent me a quote. I responded to the quote and followed his pay instructions (I used Zelle). I went to pickup the equipment at the BASS location and he had it all packed up and ready to go on a dolly. KISS (Keep it Simple!!!) defined my experience with Nicholas from BASS. I had no negative experience, it was all very positive. Things I noticed: 1. Punctual (He was on time for every aspect of my request.) 2. Pride in equipment by the displayed care in the manner which it was all neatly packaged (wires, aux cables, etc., etc., etc...). We ended up renting a loudspeaker system, two mics, a digital mixing console, and dance floor lighting. The cost was incredibly reasonable considering the final total included not just the rental, but the set-up and breakdown labor, an attendant on site, and transportation. About a month before the wedding, Chris made time to come out to meet us at our venue to do a walkthrough. What made this special? Our venue only allowed for viewing on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 pm to 8 pm. Though based in San Francisco, he was there before 6:30 pm and proceeded to walk through the dining room to check outlets and power sources, get a sense of the acoustics of the room, etc. On the day of the wedding, Chris was the one in attendance and the sound and lighting was absolutely perfect. From our entrance and first dance songs, to the music playing during dinner, to the 2.5 hour dancefloor playlist - everything was super crisp (never too loud/too soft). My then fiance made a playlist and downloaded it to a laptop and it worked seamlessly with the sound and lighting equipment. During dancing, Chris wordlessly turned down the chandelier lighting so that the lighting from JK Sound could really shine. The strobe lighting to the beat drops was so memorable. A lot of my cousins had fun getting up on stage and pretending to be DJs lol. All in all, would highly recommend JK Sound for your sound and lighting needs!

The San Jose location was where we picked up our PA system and stand for a 45th anniversary banquet we were celebrating for our amazing Aunt and Uncle. I knew very little about audio equipment and the staff here were super helpful and surprisingly super courteous. Everyone was young, but they knew their stuff and gave me a short training tutorial and threw in extensions cables and aux to phone jack cable as well as a better XLR cable that would work better than the 1/4 jack cable I had for my Mics that I brought for our cousins to do speeches and MC the event. It was so simple to play the audio of a slide show we had on our laptop and we were able to Spotify a wedding music set from our phone making the whole event ever more special yet still chill and warm and full of family love. I felt very confident with the equipment all from the thorough training I was given on how to use the equipment and how to work the stand and such. We will definitely rent from these guys for future AV needs.
