After I sat with Dr. Au I went to pick out my glasses with Melony and she was such a delight. So sweet, kind and funny! This whole team is just top notch , truly. I spent almost 2 hours in this appointment and left feeling so excited about my first pair of glasses ever. They really made me so comfortable and informed. I CANNOT recommend this office enough!!

Another eye doctor that I later saw in Charlotte failed to diagnose it, and when I brought up the earlier diagnosis, dismissed my concerns. Dr. David Au correctly diagnosed my astigmatism - there was a noticeable difference between the normal and astigmatism lens - and I'm glad to be finally able to get the lens I need. Dr. Au answered all my questions and showed me a protocol for referring contact lens prescriptions - quite refreshing compared to other eye docs I've seen that were less transparent and steered me towards one particular brand (that I wonder if they were receiving some form of kickbacks on). I recently had the privilege of undergoing two cataract surgeries w/laser by him & I'm seeing clearer than I have in over thirty years. He is an amazing cataract surgeon but I now plan to start going to him for my routine eye care, as well. I highly recommend Dr. Lee Wiley with Charlotte Eye, Ear, Nose, & Throat Associates.

Earlier this year Dr. Wiley performed both my cataract surgeries and said I wouldn't need glasses…read morefor distance, yet I do ~ ok, I can live with that. However, he didn't treat other after-surgery issues properly ~ blurriness, not seeing clearly from both eyes, & starbursts were blamed on dry eyes (given a daily Rx) and conjunctivochalasis (given Rx for 2 weeks). Returned for 3 month check up with same issues, but he said I was "doing fine" ~ I wasn't. Also, during the 4 months after surgery, I had to request prescriptions for new glasses (isn't that standard after cataract surgery?). Based on wearing 'cheaters' after surgery, I knew the first prescription he handed me wasn't right, so he changed it to what I requested. At my 3 month check up my vision had degraded a bit, and I knew the prescription needed tweaked, yet still had to request it. I again didn't agree with it, but he wouldn't change it (I had it filled, but couldn't see right). Two months later, I went to a different Dr who not only issued a new prescription that I can see well with (and she questioned why Dr. Wiley had put in a correction for astigmatism since I no longer had that condition after paying extra for the lens to fix that), she also discovered my oil glands were clogged (Dr. Wiley never checked that), I still had conjunctivochalasis (Dr. Wiley didn't recheck that on my last visit), and his dry eye Rx wasn't the proper treatment. The new Dr started a treatment plan for all 3 issues, and after 4 weeks everything cleared up, and still fine after 3 months. Bottom line, I have no faith in Dr. Wiley. I feel he just wants to do all the cataract surgeries, is intolerant of any issues that arise afterwards, and simply cannot prescribe lens properly. As a side note, I have a friend who also had the same surgeries with Dr. Wiley and had ALL the same issues. Needless to say, neither one of us will be returning to this practice.

I wasn't even provided the proper designer case they normally come with, just a generic one that didn't fit properly. That is not acceptable, and it certainly isn't ethical. You claim to have searched your patient database but couldn't verify me--yet somehow you sent me a private message on Yelp with direct contact info. That doesn't align. You also claim I would have responded if I were a real patient. I did not respond because I already attempted to contact your office directly before ever posting a review, and I was ignored. I had cataract surgery last March which corrected my distance vision. The downside is that I now require readers. In addition, for my part-time job, I work on a computer in a public place so I need bi-focals. Unfortunately, I lost one of the lenses and the frames are damaged. It took 2 weeks to get an appointment. I was there early for my time. I filled out some paperwork and was ready to go when Dr Brook Vastis called me in. We talked about my transition to her practice and my vision needs. Mainly to get an exam to provide to my PCP, replacement bi-focal lenses and frames. The office environment is professional and functional. The Reception process was smooth and easy. While I was waiting I noticed there were two ladies that were talking to patients about their frame selections. They have a lot of premium choices, Maui Jim, Lilly Pulitzer, State Optical, Barton Perreira, Lafont of Paris,Ernia O of Barcelona, Silhouette, Ovo Optics, Modo, Morel and Kate Spade to name a few. I met with a lady named Jessie to talk about selecting frames and lenses and completing my order. She was very professional, friendly and helpful. I was pleased my insurance covered a large percentage of the overall costs. While changing medical providers can sometimes be anxious and stressful, this was not one of them.
