(Materials should have been ordered 2 1/2 weeks ago when permit was approved) 5/11 No work done 5/12 No work done 5/13 Dig holes for posts 5/14 Place posts for inspection 5/15 City Inspection: Failed inspection due to permit being misplaced 5/16 City Inspection: Inspector approved. Began Pergola construction. Did not have enough beams to finish job. 5/17 No wood to finish job so workers went to another project. Promised that pergola would be finished Monday 5/20 Rain all day 5/21 No Show, No communication on Pergola contractor 5/22 No Show, No communication on Pergola contractor. Called Office to complain again about no work being done with no explanation. Office (owner) says they are slammed busy with projects. Assured us that the job would be done and gave us his cell #. 5/23 Worked until ran of material. Second time ran out of wood 5/24 City of Davie Inspection: Failed due to not finished. Worker did not bring enough wood to finish project. Third time ran out of wood. Worker left with no communication. 5/25 Canvas contractor no showed on appointment. Called him and he called back later indicating he was with another customer and would not be able to make it. Rescheduled for 5/29/13. 5/27 Rain all day 5/28 No Show, No communication on Pergola contractor. 5/29 No Show, No communication on Pergola contractor. Canvas contractor no shows and no communication for second time. Called office to talk to Owner. Left message asking for a return call. No return call. 5/30 Call from Owner, will finish pergola this afternoon and inspection on Friday and Monday and will have the canvas contractor call me 5/30 Finished the pergola. 5/31 Passes framing inspection 5/31 Problems with pergola. Sent pictures to office. 10 large mold stains on beams. Contractor said they would fade, but it has been three weeks and they are not faded. Also 4 rows of 2X2's are not spaced properly on the top of the pergola 6/3 Waiting for inspection 6/4 Passes Structural inspection 6/5 Office is sending out contractor to fix pergola problems on 6/7 6/6 No Work 6/7 Contractor 40 min late. Trying to use pressure washer to take off mold. Mold stain still visable. Fixed spacing issue. 6/10 No work 6/11 Met with project manager and salesman. Told them my frustrations with this project and was reassured it would get better. Also showed them what was left of the mold stains. They agreed with the problem but offered no solution or compensation. 6/12 Met with canvas contractor and picked out canvas. 6/13 No Work 6/14 Mason contractor came and poured slab for kitchen and footer for deck. Said he would be back on Tuesday to finish job. 6/14 Spent nearly an hour with mason contractor showing him what needs to be done and answering questions. This is the job of the project manager, not me. I am the customer paying for this project. 6/17 No Work - Mason already communicated that he would be back on 6/18 6/18 Mason no show, no communication 6/18 Called the office to complain again about no show of sub-contractors. I told them their communication with their customers is non-existent and all I want is a call or notice that they are not showing up so I don't waste my time waiting to show them what to do. Again, I am the project manager. 6/19 Mason showed up and built block kitchen 6/20 Called my electrician (not Oceans) to come tomorrow 6/21 Electrician came back and installed outlets and wiring 6/21 Pergola problem. 10 feet of the ends of the 2X2's on east end of pergola are not straight. There is about a 3-4 inch difference from one end to the other. 6/22 Mason came back and finished job. Block is too high on one side. You would have to have a step stool to use the sink. The whole design is wrong. With the help of the Mason, I had to redesign one entire side on the spot. I am now certain this company doesn't have any clue to what they are doing. 6/24 No Work. Emailed office to ask what is the schedule for this week. No reply 6/25 No Work. No reply 6/26 No Work. Office calls and says travertine will be installed next Monday. The granite is being scheduled for templating and the pergola top they are not sure. Will get back to me. They are now scheduling stuff that should have been scheduled last week. Pergola top should have been sheduled.6/12. It is very clear this company does not know how to run a project. 6/27 No Work. 6/28 No Work. To be continued read more

Part 2 7/1 Spent time with Travertine installer. Showed him what needed to be done. Again I am the project manager. Truck showed up to deliver travertine. Neither the travertine installer or office was going to check quantity. I had to check quantity and they were 50 sq feet short. Driver came back with 50 sq ft later in the day. 7/2 Could not stay home to supervise 2nd day of travertine installation and no one from office came to supervise. Travertine was installed incorrectly. 1) There is a 2 inch pitch per 10 ft on the outside. I specifically told him there should only be a one inch pitch per 16 ft corner to corner.You would think that there would be a project manager to supervise. 2) There is an 1 1/2 inch pitch on the inside for a 7 foot area. Looks ridiculous. 7/3 Went to office to complain yet again about shoddy workmanship. No supervision of independent contractors, still unresolved pergola issues., etc etc etc 7/3 Had to leave work to meet granite installer. Went thru in detail all the measurements with him. Office person was also there. Showed Office person the problems with the travertine and also showed them the Pergola issues. 7/5 Went to Granite showroom. Granite company informed me that she did not have any of the RiverGold granite that we picked out 2 1/2 months ago. I told her that we deposited $750 for the upgrade back in April. She said she did not get the deposit. She said she will try to locate some RiverGold from her suppliers. 7/9 Met with Sales from Oceans, the pergola sub-contractor and travertine sub-contractor. Discussed the issues with the pergola and was agreed that they would be fixed. Discussed at length the travertine pitch issue. It was agreed that we would leave travertine as is until ledgerstone is installed on side of kitchen. Travertine subcontractor assured that it would look fine. I would hold back $7000 until this issue is finally resolved and is ok. 7/9 Emailed office to tell them what we agreed upon, plus that the canvas roof cannot be measured until the pergola is fixed. They had no idea. 7/10 Office called to say pergola subcontractor will repair on Friday 7/12 and the canvas roof subcontractor will install next week. I explained now for the third time that the canvas subcontractor has not measured and cannot measure until the pergola is repaired. Wood that will be used for mounting the canvas roof is going to be replaced and you cannot take measurements until that is done. Why am I telling them this? Who is in charge of this project? 7/12 Could not be home to supervise Pergola repairs. Pergola was not repaired. 7/13 Get email from office wanting the $7000 that was agreed to be held back or they will delay the project. Replied that pergola was not repaired, $7000 hold back was agreed last week and now you are changing your mind? Also that the granite that should have been deposited by the office was not. 7/13 Shopped at two suppliers and found new granite. It cannot be installed until 7/28 7/13 to 7/17 No work done 7/18 Oceans decided to rip up the travertine and reinstall it correctly. 7/19 Made payment for travertine. 7/19-7/27 No work done. 7/28 Granite installers came and installed part of the granite. The cut outs for the grill, burner, green egg and ice chest to be done on 7/30 7/30 Cut outs done 7/30 Double burner is to large for design. Need to change models and regfrigerator is on back order 7/31 to 8/4 No work done 8/5 Borrowed a burner of same dimensions and made final cuts 8/6 Ledgerstone installation begins. Not an easy job and is being done well. 8/7 to 8/14 Ledgerstone is installed and finished 8/10 Roof is measured for covering. It was decided that the pergola could not be fixed because the roof would look "off". 8/14 New double burner and refrigrator is installed 8/14 Roof covering was supposed to be installed. No show on roof contractor 8/14 Contacted office about roof 8/15 Office called back and roof to be installed on 8/20 8/19 No one hooked up grill and burner for gas, so I had to do it and tested it. 8/20 Roof contractor installed roof. Roof covering too big and had to take back to shop for resize 8/21 Roof contractor came back and installed roof. 8/22 Rain today and the roof leaks. Called office and was told that pergola roofs are not waterproof. They all knew a fan was going inside pergola. Electrical wiring has been there for 2.5 months and no one said anything about the roof not being waterproof. 8/23 I wish I could put the texts here from the owner. 8/26/ Owner called and said they put sealer in seams and to test it. 8/27 Tested roof and it still leaks. Owner refuses to fix it. At this point, I just want them out of my life. All I can say is you enter into a contract at your own risk with this company. read more

After everything was complete, I received not only one but two calls from both the office and my salesman to make sure everything was done to my satisfaction and that I was welcome to call them anytime should I have any further questions. I was not asked to write a letter of recommendation and me simply being happy with their work was all Oceans Remodeling was concerned with. Just amazing that's all I can say about these guys.
