WARNING this company is shady. I called to ask if they could repair my gas heater and they said absolutely took my credit card and payment and told me that scheduling would be forthwith. I now understand they have absolutely no certification to deal with gas. They send the business to another company, which I have no knowledge of. The second company sent somebody who knew absolutely nothing about gas whatsoever and provided no documentation whatsoever. This business is extremely shady And the customer service is absolutely horrible. While they are a very polite company, the end result was horrible. They sold me an expensive heater which I have hardly used but has broken down more than once. While there is a warranty any repairs apparently must be done through the factory that sold which is called Aquacal. Aquacal has outrageous fees that included $240 just to show up for an estimate, but that fee is not applied to any work that is done. All labor is on top of that. I bought this heater which should be in basically brand new condition because it's hardly been used and the Aquacal guy comes out and says it's $1200 in labor plus the original $240 for a new compressor. I can't understand how it could need a new compressor with such little use and I can't even get a second opinion because nobody else is allowed to do the work if you want to have parts warranty. I would strongly advise major caution before buying a heater from them. read more

Horrible customer service. After calling several times for the status of my appointment, I finally get a call back and was told it's being postponed. Then I was asked to provide a credit card for the service charge. I stated that I would've provided one last week when I made the appointment for today. I called because my jacuzzi / pool heater decided to die on me. I spoke with a Debbie who was very friendly and took my information down. I was sure to tell her I needed a 400,000 BTU unit. She took my info and said someone would call me back. About an hour or so later I got a call from Kevin but I was unable to take his call right away. He left a message and I called back within 15 minutes and began to tell him what I needed when he interrupted me and asked me "How did you get this number?" I stated that I called the 800 # and left a message with Debbie and you just called me back, so I am returning that call. Kind of rude, but OK. He gives me a guesstimate quote for $2500 - 2900 for a Jandy JXI line. I told him I had to speak with hubby as I had no clue what prices we were looking at. I called back today (the very next day) and Kevin answers the phone and says "Can you call me back in 15 minutes I am with a customer" ok, well then why did you answer phone. So I called back the 800# and asked Debbie if Kevin was a salesperson or owner and she said he was a salesperson and the owners brother. Debbie puts the owner Dennis on the phone who informs me that the pool heater the size I am looking for is actually $3000 - $3300. I told Dennis that I know for a fact I told Debbie and Kevin what size heater I was looking for and thank you, but no thank you. Then about 30 minutes later I got another phone call from Kevin and told him what Dennis had told me and Kevin said that he (Kevin) is the one out in the streets and doing the sales and that he could indeed give me the 400,000 BTU unit for the $2500- $2900 and that Dennis was not doing the sales. Kevin (sales rep) quoted me a price that was in line with other pool heater installers (his sales pitch was $100 down on a credit card and the rest when done). FPH installed the pool heater on schedule. The install took less that 90 minutes. The PVC plumbing "that the installer installed" leaked. FPH was not able to get out to fix it right away and I was leaving for the summer in a few days. As a matter of fact, they scheduled, then cancelled twice before I left. They then rescheduled for the following Saturday. I would not be there by that time. I took it upon myself to replumb the PVC pipping and fix those leaks myself. There were no leaks after I was finished using the proper cement and primer and letting the plumbing cure before pressurizing the lines. I asked FPH for a small reimbursement for the materials that I had purchased from Home Depot. That was when Kevin turned into a condescending ass. He asked for receipts, that I was able to supply. He called me the next day only to say NO WAY! I guess Florida Pool Heating is only as good as they are when things go right. The installer also ruined the $50 check valve that I purchased. Kevin said he will not reimburse anything. He did however authorize the office to not charge me the hidden credit card payment fee of 3% as a courtesy. (but that's another issue) My own repair saved me about 8 PSI off the filter pressure because I was able to do it right, not just slap it together. I can rest easy knowing that there are no leaking pipes while I am away. Buyer beware! read more

Just had a pool heater installed in my pool after 5 years ago my old one quit on me. Spoke to Dennis and Kevin both great guys as they were courteous ands helpful with any and all information I needed to make my decision. Didn't even demand payment up front, after signing the contract the system was installed within 48 hours. In 24 hours my pool was 90 degrees! That was after the cold snap we had last week! I cancelled installation after very frustrating encounters with people in this company. I had been receiving emails for about a year from them after inquiring online. I finally decided to go with it and called for someone to inspect my pool and property. When I called, Debbie gave me times for an appointment when I would not be there. She said that Dennis could just come out and look at it when I wasn't there and give me a quote after. I said no because I wanted to be there to ask questions and find out prices. I've never had a pool heater before. Debbie said that he would be there between 9-11. She called me at 10 to say that he would be there between 12-2. He called me at 2 to say he would be there at 2:30. He arrived at 2:45. Dennis spent about 15 minutes looking at the space near the pool and at the electric panel. He suggested putting the heater in a place that was near the middle of a gravel walkway and not up against the house. I understood that it had to be a certain number of feet away from the pool and I agreed with him that I did not want it in front of a window. At the time, I could not think of a better place, but thought I could talk to him later if I had another idea about it. Then he started to leave. I was surprised because he said nothing about the electric which he had looked at. I asked him about it (I had been told by a previous company that we did not have sufficient amperage in our electric box). He said that there was not enough as well and that he would hire an an electrician add what we needed. I then asked about price and he said that he would send me a quote. A few days later he sent a quote for $5300. I thought that was high, but I wanted to talk to my husband about it. I asked how long he would hold the price for and he said 30 days. I thanked him and said I would get back to him. A few days later, I called the office back and said that we would go with that price, and I signed the contract and mailed a check for $2500. I also told Debbie that I wanted to speak with Dennis again about placement of the heater. She asked for pictures of the location I wanted, and I sent them. She said that she would give them to Dennis and have him call me back. He didn't. Someone--another project manager?---called me and gave me excuses about why they could not change the location. I said that there had to be other options because the location they were planning on was not acceptable to me. This man was very condescending to me treating me as if i was stupid and could not understand what he was saying. I asked to speak with Dennis again. Again, Dennis did not call me back, but his ---project manager?---called again to say that Dennis would called me later. Dennis did not call me back. I talked to my husband and we both agreed to stop payment on the check and find someone else to install our heater. I did get another company to come out to look at the site and give me a quote. He said that there was no reason why the heater could not be placed in the location I wanted. I have read other negative reviews about this company both on Yelp and on their website. On their website they tend to respond to negative reviews defensively instead of apologetically. The impression I got is that this company works volume and wants to go quickly. I respect that, but at the same time, I believe that if a customer has questions, they need to take the time to answer them and work with that customer. (I've worked in retail before too) If you are OK with how they want to do the job, you get good service. If you are not, and slow them down, you get condescending behavior. On fri june 26th i had 9 solar pool heating panels installed. 3 guys did it in 3 hrs. They were nice installs and went over system briefly. The company was not a fan of pulling permits and said ok i save several hundred dollars as its just plastic. Well i got screwed. On tue June 30th the panels started to leak and since i was not home i lost 7 inches of water in my pool plus a flooded backyard. Called company up like 2pm and told tomorrow someone will come out at 9am Person was here by 930am and fixed issue in 15 min. Some of the parts were not attached right so they opened at the joints. Totally unacceptable on a new system install. Called office afterwards to finalize my bill and asked for discount. Owner felt $50 was more than fair. Shady sales tactics and bait and switch pricing from Dennis at FPH. He promised me credit for the initial diagnosis visit for my pool heater. They did not perform ANY repairs on that visit, just confirmed the unit wasn't working (which I already knew, I did not need to spend $125 for them to come and tell me that). They refused to apply the credit toward the final *negotiated* pricing and never informed me that I would have to waive the $125 fee from the diagnosis visit. They accused me of "sneaking around on them" for placing a bid on their eBay store where they sell the same exact units for considerably less but inflate their installation prices to make up for the difference. Dennis offered to sell me a new unit for $3,400 and on eBay he sells the same exact model for hundreds less, and for the same price mentioned above, he sells the next model up. Moreover, he offered me a used unit, that according to him was 7-8 years old, for a pricey $2,200 when one can buy a brand new similar unit for that money. Look who's talking about being sneaky! I call that shady. I did my shopping around, as any sensible consumer would, and could have gotten the same exact unit I ended up purchasing for virtually the same price from another vendor but they already had $125 of my money, so unfortunately, I purchased from them. I would have gladly sent the unit back for a full refund, including the installation charges, if I hadn't removed and disposed of the old unit already. Just the fact that their pricing is grossly inflated and they use bait-and-switch tactics with the installation and diagnosis visit fees should be sufficient warning to keep you from doing business with them. Update: After arguing on the phone with Dennis and putting up with his condescending attitude, he gave me the $125 credit (which my credit card company would have given me anyway). However, Dennis deducted this amount from the Sales person's commission! And he's the one that promised me the credit in the first place! Wow, what a guy. About three years ago I contacted several companies to get a quote for a solar pool heater. The salesman from Florida Pool Heating was very professional. He had great references and an impressive sales pitch. Most of all a good price. My system was installed and ran great for about three years. The valve that is controlled by an electric motor began to leak from the neck. I called the company and explained exactly what was wrong. I was told that it was under warranty but had to wait a week for a service call. They told me I would have to pay $125 to what I was led to believe was a guarantee for the service call. I was told that if anything was not under warranty the $125 would be applied towards that. Since it was under warranty I decided not to fix it myself so I wouldn't void the warranty. They gave me a date and were supposed to call to confirm morning or afternoon the day before. I got a call moving my appointment one day but had to call the morning of my appointment for the time. The technician eventually showed up. Without looking at the valve he told my the repair would be $125 PLUS parts. When I advised him that I was told it would be under warranty. He told me that those parts were not. He went to his truck and came back telling me it would be $195 for the job. He removed six screws and replaced a part, in less than 2 minutes. I picked up the part and saw that the o-ring was broken. I asked why he didn't just replace the o-ring he tried to give me a technical (BS) ex[explanation that any idiot could see through. I said, "Basically I'm being charged $195 for a $.70 o-ring." His replay was "if you don't like it call the company." I called the company and complained. I was put on hold because the tech was calling in at the same time. I was transferred to a person of authority ( I believe it was Debbie) who told me that the technician had diagnosed my problem and that was the cost of the repair. I advised her of my initial conversation and that I had told the operator exactly what was wrong with exactly which part. She didn't respond but went on to tell me how I absolutely needed the $55.00 part. I told her that as I was speaking to her I looked the part up on Amazon and it was $31, and that the only reason I didn't fix it myself was because I was told it was under warranty. She told me "We don't shop at Amazon." I told her maybe she should. She asked how she could make it right. I told her the tech left my house within the last five minutes. he him come back with an o-ring and take back the part. She said she would not waste anymore of the techs time. She became aggressive and kept asking me what do I want to do. I told her I would pay for the o-ring since that was all that was needed. She immediately agreed but charged me $5 for the o-ring. so $130 total. Like the other review, I found the price switching very shady. If it was a legitimate repair and the prices were correct why did she agree so quickly to discount $65. I still got raped for $130 for a $.70 o-ring. STAY AWAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I contacted AquaCal since they have the SQ 156R Ice Breaker which has a self defrosting mode.AquaCal put me in touch with Mr.Dennis Olmezer from Florida Pool Heating. I had several emails with Dennis and I explained what I was looking for. He told me that he would beat any written price . The same guarantee was on his web site as of November 5, 2013. I planned on getting several estimates and advised Dennis that I would get back to him last since he stated that he could beat any written price. I forwarded the best estimate I got on the AquaCal SQ 156R IceBeaker to Dennis by Email. It took several emails and almost 24 Hrs before he informed me : that the contractor was working on only a couple hundred dollars over cost. When equipment and labor is listed separately it is usually a red flag . I guess he needed some sort of an excuse why he failed to live up to his written guarantee of unconditionally beating anyone's written estimate.It seemed to me that he passed on the project because the price I got was around $1000 less then his.
