We hired Pool Pros Builder to construct a backyard spa in our existing pool, and unfortunately, our…read moreexperience has been extremely frustrating and very different from what was presented and promised when we signed the contract. Before choosing Pool Pros Builder, we obtained quotes from several companies. They were not the cheapest option--in fact, they were one of the more expensive companies we considered. Because this is a significant financial investment, we chose them believing the higher cost was justified by the timeline, quality, service, project management, and overall experience they promised. One of the main reasons we chose them was the promise that the project would take approximately 12 weeks to complete. We signed our contract in September 2025, and construction did not begin until April 20, 2026. We are now approaching one year since signing the contract, and the project is still far from complete. We have now been told the completion date has been pushed to early December 2026, after previously being told September 2026. Since construction began, we have experienced more downtime than actual progress. We are not in the pool business, but even to us it is concerning to see such long periods with little or no visible activity. Inspections, interestingly, have generally moved forward without significant delays. All of the delays appear to be on the construction side. We raised our concerns well in advance about the amount of downtime and specifically warned that we were concerned the original completion date would not be met. We were told not to worry. Unfortunately, those concerns have now become reality, and the completion date continues to move further out. Another major concern is that we have had three different project managers since construction began. This constant turnover has made it extremely difficult to have consistency, accountability, and confidence that someone is truly overseeing our project from beginning to end. Communication has also been extremely disappointing. We rarely see the project manager, and most updates come on Fridays through messages. Unfortunately, these updates often do not provide meaningful information about what was completed, what is currently being worked on, what is causing delays, or what the next steps are. We should not have to repeatedly chase information about a project of this size and financial commitment. During the sales process, we were specifically told that Pool Pros Builder did not subcontract and had its own crews. This was presented as an advantage and as one of the reasons they could maintain better control of the project and meet the promised timeline. Unfortunately, what was presented during the sales process and what we have experienced have been very different. Another concern is the payment process. Whenever an agreed-upon phase is completed, payment requests are handled promptly. However, the same urgency does not seem to exist when it comes to moving construction forward. This has left us feeling that if we do not pay, additional progress may not happen. We have already paid approximately 95% of the project, while the spa remains in the concrete/construction phase with pipes still visible throughout. We recently had a call with the project manager to formally raise all of these concerns and make it clear that we need accountability, transparency, and a clear plan forward. We are expecting to meet at our home this week to discuss how this project will be completed without further unnecessary delays. At this point, we cannot continue accepting this level of service. We have made a significant financial investment, invested considerable time and energy into this project, and have been more than patient. Our investment, our time, and the expectations established when we signed the contract deserve to be respected. I will update this review if we see meaningful improvement, consistent progress, better communication, and, ultimately, a successful completion of the project.

We decided to do a complete renovation, new diamond brite, new decking, a sun shelf addition and a relocation of our pool pump system. We have had multiple quotes, from multiple companies, but we made our final decision based of positive referrals. We were told that the job would start within 2 weeks of signing the contract and that the job would take 4-6 weeks to be completed and swimmable. This was partially incorrect, as the job started immediately and completed under 4 weeks. We were impressed with the craftsmanship with the team at Sun Blue. They made the experience very low stress. We've had bad experiences in the past on projects where the contractors never kept us in the loop with the status of the work being done, but Sun Blue kept us informed every step of the way. It was refreshing to get daily phone calls from their team letting us know the schedule for the day or following days. We had workers on site practically everyday and if they weren't, we were told in advance. This practice is what every homeowner looks for in a company. When the job was completed, one of the owners came by for a final walkthrough to see if we had any issues before receiving the final payment. In prior experiences, the final payment meant that if there were any future issues that the contractors wouldn't pick up the phone or return phone calls once they got paid. Not Sun Blue. We've been in contact with one of the owners, Alan, a couple times since and he's even stopped by a couple of times to consult with us on a couple of issues, none directly related with their work. That is why they came so highly recommended and it is why they deserve a 5 star rating. I will definitely be using them for my future projects and will gladly refer them to friends and family.

Less than two years later, the blue accent tile on my pool steps is already failing and coming off. In my opinion, that is not normal wear and tear for pool work that is this recent. I contacted Bluewater Pools about the issue and received a call back from Kevin. Without ever coming to my property to inspect the damage, he immediately blamed my pool service company and stated that my pool guy must have caused it. I asked what it would cost to repair, and I was told $200. I then escalated the matter to the owner. The owner did send someone to look at the damage, but the response was essentially the same: "This looks like the pool guy." After speaking with the owner again a few days later, I was told the same thing -- that my pool guy caused the damage. At no point did I receive a meaningful written explanation, inspection report, or proof that the failure was caused by my pool service company rather than by an installation, bonding, material, grout, or workmanship issue. The owner then offered to repair the tiles for $875, making it clear that he would not fix the issue at no cost, even though the work was less than two years old and even though Bluewater Pools could not provide proof that their work was not part of the problem. Because I was not satisfied with that response, I contacted two other pool companies for independent opinions and repair estimates. Both companies indicated that the workmanship appeared flawed, especially considering how recently the work had been done. One company even tried to demonstrate how difficult it would be to chip that tile through the water with a pool brush because of the drag once the brush enters the water. I also tested this myself, and it was extremely difficult to recreate the kind of damage Bluewater claimed my pool service company caused. After this happened, I looked more closely at Bluewater Pools' Yelp and Google reviews and found other customers describing similar issues. One Yelp review from another customer specifically mentions tile falling off, grout coming out, and a poor Marcite job after Bluewater Pools performed work. That sounded very similar to the type of failure I am now dealing with on my own pool. I wish I had taken those complaints more seriously before hiring this company. My issue is not only that the tile failed. My issue is that Bluewater Pools immediately blamed someone else, refused to accept any possibility that their workmanship or materials may have contributed to the problem, and then attempted to charge me significantly more to repair work that I believe should not have failed this quickly. I have photos, communications, and independent opinions regarding this issue. Based on my experience, I would strongly caution anyone considering Bluewater Pools to think carefully, get everything in writing, understand the warranty, review their Yelp and Google reviews carefully, and document the condition of the work immediately after completion. Pools are expensive, and consumers should be able to expect that a company will stand behind its work when problems appear in such a short period of time. In my opinion, Bluewater Pools did not do that here.

When we called to resolve the issue and restart service, the representative demanded immediate payment over the phone by credit card for FUTURE services which was no big deal for us, but we simply requested a secure online payment link instead as they had just done for us, as I was not comfortable verbally giving my card information over the phone, but she refused. There was very little professionalism or customer care shown during the conversation. In addition, we repeatedly asked them to inspect and address equipment issues multiple times throughout service, and nothing was ever followed up on or repaired. Most disappointing was the complete lack of urgency after explaining that we had Mother's Day plans with multiple mothers and children coming over in just a few days. At that point, we were simply looking for help getting the pool back in shape quickly, but it was clear they did not care about retaining us as customers. Poor communication, lack of follow-through, and poor customer service overall. Please consider another company. Regardless, we asked them to upgrade our aqualink system to a newer one, never got a quote. Fix or replace heater, never got a quote. Price replacing our pool deck and waterline tile, never received a quote. In this economy, we are paying alot for all kinds of services, with your pool you have options. Choose wisely.
