Went here with a group of family friends and had a decent experience here. With Texas being, well Texas, the outdoors environment in a rainy part of the day attracted a lot of mosquitoes to the area and was a little bit irritating for me while I was eating. Besides that (mainly out of control for the restaurant), though, I did find certain aspects of the restaurants to be not as great as I'd want it to be. As a lover of crawfish, I was really excited to get to try here, but I found their crawfish seasoning be a bit too salt heavy without exploring any of the other sides to crawfish. The Pook's sauce, which I had hoped to remedy this, was also a disappointment to me since it didn't seem to complement what was going on. The shrimp and crab, on the other hand, despite me not always enjoying the two at restaurants, were probably my two favorite parts of this experience. Complemented by the melted butter, I felt as though these two were miles better in quality and taste compared to the crawfish. Service was decent. They had run out of crackers for the crab so we had to wait ~20 minutes before we could dig in. Atmosphere was nice and more suited for large groups and conversations than a smaller 2-3 person group, though they did accommodate tables for these smaller groups. Overall, a little bit disappointing for me, but I wouldn't be against eating here again if I'm looking for a place to share a seafood boil with. There's just so many of these restaurants in the area that do a similar thing that small inconveniences might place this one lower on my to-go list. read more

Got 20 lbs of crawfish to go last Saturday, a week after Easter. $125 for just the crawfish. No corn, potatoes, or onions. We boiled our own extras and added mushrooms and garlic heads. Only one spice level is available. Crawfish were of mixed sizes, but cooked properly. Overall, good but not great. Have been there 10 or so times through the recent years. Went the second day of the year and had to get some fresh crawfish. The size was mixed but mostly on the smaller size. They were very juicy but they don't put much seasoning on them. I wish they gave you options for spicy levels. Other than that they were good. Have to get the mushrooms. read more

We visited Pook's Crawfish Hole on a busy Thursday night. The restaurant itself is easy to find and there is parking out front and on the side. We were lucky someone was leaving as we pulled into the parking lot, so we were able to park right near the door. The hostesses/staff were very friendly. They greeted us and led us to a table large enough for our group of 5 with plenty of room to spread out. Even though the restaurant was full, it was still quiet enough that we were able to have conversations with all of the members of our party. We enjoyed: - Fried pickles - Hushpuppies - Crawfish - Snow crab plate - Mini corndogs - Chicken and sausage gumbo The food was delicious. We wish there were a bit more options to season the seafood. However, this place is pretty close to places we frequent so it may become a somewhat regular spot. We recommend you give them a try and hope you have a great experience. read more

Self proclaimed as "The Best Crawfish in Galveston County", you'll always find a packed house and a long wait at Pook's. I've been waiting for Pook's from the moment I heard about it. 5 years later, I can check it off the list. At Pook's, you can purchase crawfish live to cook at home or eat right there in the restaurant. I regretfully come back to inform you, Pook's was good, but nothing I would drive over an hour for... in addition, the fixins (potatoes, corn) are not included. Came here with a large group from out of town and our server Brooke was super attentive and super friendly! Our group ordered some crawfish, boudin balls and snow crabs. It's a byob so it's nice to bring in your own drinks, but we were still offered sodas/water. They also serve chicken nuggets, corn dogs and fries for the kiddos. Great venue and I went for the crawfish, which didn't disappoint. They were big, there were only a couple that were "bad" and couldn't be eaten, and they had the right spice. Very juicy and fresh. Served with corn potatoes and sausage that came with the plate (not sold separately - I hate it when restaurants do that!!) Staff was friendly and service was great. If you are in Galveston County and looking for a pretty good place to grab some crawfish and/or shrimp, look no further than Pook's. I like crawfish but I love shrimp. Lucky for me, Pook's has both. The crawfish is good but not overly spicy. I like their crawfish because the spice is not overpowering. I know some folks like it super spicy but I prefer a slightly milder taste. When it comes to crawfish, the more you buy, the cheaper it gets per pound. The shrimp is peel-and-eat and seems to be cooked in the same spice as the crawfish. I liked both a lot. The overall look of the restaurant is sort of a roll-up-the-garage-door beer joint. It is a very casual. The staff is very attentive and easy going. Only open during Crawfish season, they specialize in one thing. Outstanding crawfish. Other items are available including crab and crawfish pies. The crawfish is never too hot, but has spice. Early in the season some are small, but that's everywhere. The staff is all local and friendly. Great ambience, country music and byob is the theme. Bring your favorite beer, and enjoy some Santa Fe hospitality and put down a few pounds of mud bugs. read more

Wow! Pooks is the best crawfish place! Crawfish prices are high at the moment but they continue to offer good deals. They have specials and we had 5lbs for $30. We ordered two of the specials and added sausage, potatoes, corn and mushrooms. The crawfish has the right amount of spice. The mushrooms and corn were spicier than the potatoes and sausage. My husband loved the sausage. I recommend ordering the Pooks sauce for dipping. read more

Inconsistent experience at Pooks. Don't go early as I'm pretty sure you're getting yesterday's boiled crawfish warmed up. Taste is good but lots of straight tailed losers from boiling dead bugs.
