Out of respect for my mother, who asked me not to include pictures of the injuries my dog sustained when we took her to get groomed at Poochie parlor approximately 3 weeks ago, i will not post any pictures of the scrape and inflammation on her inner thigh/lower stomach, the cut on her face that continued to reopen for a week, or her inflamed scabbed over vagina.
Before the holidays, we took my 13 year old dog here to get groomed so she would look nice when we took her to family parties. When my dad arrived he was told they had a new groomer who was very good, but he was a little slow. We have no idea what happened during the time we left her here, but when she came home she didnt want to be held and seemed afraid of urinating. She had a small cut and some blood on her face, but we dismissed it as that seemed to be the only issue and we thought he had just clipped a skin tag. She seemed normal aside from this, and we assumed her arthritis was acting up again, so we didnt think much of the fact she didnt want to be held. A few days later we discovered that due to what i can only imagine must have been extreme negligence on your part, her vagina had been cut fairly bad. I don't want to go into too much detail about the injuries, but there is no way that she didn't bleed when she was still at poochie parlor. In addition to the injuries she sustained on her vagina and face, her inner thigh was scraped and cut up, as well as patches on her stomach.
I used to intern at a vet clinic that also groomed animals. I understand that dogs move and they dont always stay still when you groom them. Ive had to assist the groomer with dogs that wouldnt stay still, but i have never seen anything like this happen before. To my own dog, to any dogs that ive watched get groomed, to any of my friends dogs. I know my dog, if you hurt her she will yelp. She must have called out in pain, and even if she didn't you must have noticed the blood. I cannot understand how this could have happened in any situation other than pure negligence and lack of respect or care for the animals you are grooming. I understand that accidents happen. When my family and I thought that a skin tag was clipped, we felt badly for my dog, but thought it was a simple mistake and we had no issue with bringing her back here. However, the injuries she sustained to her vagina, stomach, and inner thigh could not have happened unless my dog was treated with either negligence, or abuse. When we discovered the cuts on my dogs vagina, i held her for ten minutes and cried because i felt so guilty about leaving her with someone who hurt her. The cut on her inner thigh took a week to heal, her vagina took two and a half weeks, and the cut on her face is still occasionally reopening.
When my family took my dog to get groomed, we had no idea we were leaving her with someone who has such callous disregard for the safety and comfort of the animals entrusted to them. When you leave a dog to get groomed, theres an unspoken promise that the groomer will keep your animal safe and unharmed. Poochie parlor has proved beyond any shred of doubt to me, my family, and most likely others, that they cannot be trusted to do this. read more
