We have had such great care for our one-eyed dog at All Creatures. Jackie gets the best treatment and tonometry (checking of her eye pressures) at All Creatures, Dr. Gelfand and all of his staff have helped Jackie to remain a one-eyed dog and to get that remaining eye healthy. The front desk staff is able to quickly direct us to whatever service we need and help us keep on top of vaccines needed. Jackie is also Pet Partners Therapy dog and to her health certificate needs to always be up to date and the staff never hesitates to email out all the information we need to allow her to be able to never miss her Pet Therapy visits. Jackie loves coming to All Creatures and she gets great TLC there. Highly recommend them especially with dogs who have vision problems.

Dr. Lopez was the kind, compassionate human being who soothed my soul in making this decision and gave my beloved 17+ yr old little doggie a gentle dignified end to his distress. Dr. Lopez explained the x-rays & bloodwork that could be done (at a substantial cost) but was gentle in letting us know that for a dog of this age & degree of heart issues this won't be a real fix. In fact, the stress of it all could prove too much on him. A lesser man would have put potential dollars compassion for animals & pushed a pet owner desperate to take her "baby" home towards that unnecessary route. I am so thankful a friend recommended Assisi to me last year when my little guy was ill. She was also the owner of 2 elderly dogs & couldn't speak highly enough about their care at Assisi. Last year we saw a female Dr., whose name escapes me & we were pleased with her thoroughness & care. Today though was the true test in kindness & professionalism. We were even given a beautiful remembrance of our sweet little boy in the form of a plaster imprint of his paws w a beautiful poem & a vial containing a bit of his fur. I have used other vets & this is beyond a doubt the best I have experienced. Do yourself & your pet a favor & visit Dr. Lopez at Assisi.

I already knew this was gonna get fishy. Callbacks happened a couple times until finally they concluded that my dog needs a blood test to refill a Trazodone prescription. What? Since when? She didnt need one in the past. MONEY GRAB ALERT! Totally bogus information. Google it. Dogs dont require a blood test for a Trazodone prescription. Any time the visit was with Guzman, there was always "something we should consider". Take a sample of a bump and send to a lab. Do a full panel of blood test after she already had a clean bill of health (Oh but if you act now, we can get it for a cheaper price). Blood test to refill a prescription. Im sure he has an exclusive contract with the lab and is committed to filling quotas. That's how they work. Additionally, my neighbors had a sick cat last year. They asked me if I knew of a vet. I sent them to Assissi. Neighbors were told the cat needed to stay the night. Next morning, neighbors called to setup picking up the cat. Cat died. Initially was told the cat choked on his own vomit. Neighbors asked why didnt anyone help? They were told that no one stays there overnight. What? Then why did the cat need to stay the night? To make matters worse, they were handed a massive bill...all to have them kill my neighbors cat...from their first visit to Assissi through my recommendation. I was turned off from that story and was thinking of leaving then. Well after this Trazodone BS, we're confirmed to part. I can toss a stone in any direction and hit a vet, there are so many. Money grab tactics will lose in the end. Nothing bad to say about the front desk or the technicians. They were always awesome. Just stay away from their boss. Money grab!

Although I am a physician I am not familiar with this procedure in canines, but apparently open incisions are used to cut into the bladder for stone removal. My. Baby girl was discharged in howling pain, which was traumatic for my sister who had retrieved her. She had to return her to demand appropriate pain management for the dog as she was only given gabapentin and Rimadyl (doggie Advil). Even women who have cesarean sections are given strong analgesia for at least 3 days postoperatively. My baby suffered for days. I called the office the following day to get information regarding her diet going forward, as bladder stones can definitely recur. Not only was I not given any information, but I was merely switched to another person who just asked for my financials to make payment for the "extra (much needed) meds." I was given a generic receipt, so my insurance denied the payment, and I was NEVER given the invoice for the surgery, which was almost 3k and paid in full up front. I sent an email requesting the invoice, and to date they refused to respond, so I will not be able to submit for the reimbursement. When my son called the office he was told that they "didn't know" about the insurance- even though it is on file. Although they claim they will submit, I don't have much faith that they will. Further, why was this not handled from the beginning before they tortured my baby? If a human patient is treated this way there are patient advocates & lawyers promptly involved. I guess things are different in Veterinary Medicine.... But animals deserve compassionate care, too. Some people love their pets more than their spouses. In addition, pet parents should be counseled regarding the operative course, what to expect, and how to manage their pets post-operatively at home. My family, and especially my dog, were traumatized by this experience. This vet got good reviews on Yelp for some reason; maybe they are acceptable for routine well care visits and minor illnesses. But if you have a pet with serious illness or require invasive or surgical intervention I encourage you to seek another Veterinary practice.

PLEASE DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE WITH YOUR ANIMALS -- I WORKED HERE AND SAW WHAT HAPPENS BEHIND…read moreCLOSED DOORS I worked at this animal hospital, and what I personally witnessed there was disturbing enough that I would NEVER bring my own animal through those doors. I feel people deserve to know what I saw before trusting this place with an animal that depends completely on them for care. From what I personally witnessed, animals were not being cared for the way people would reasonably expect from a veterinary hospital. Animals were not consistently walked, their areas were not properly cleaned, and basic care was neglected. I saw things that would make any responsible pet owner extremely uncomfortable. What makes it even worse is that I personally saw charges for services that, based on what I witnessed, were not actually being performed. People are paying for care they believe their animals are receiving, while I saw firsthand that the reality did not always match what they were being charged for. The anesthesia situation was especially horrifying to me. I personally witnessed animals die during anesthesia. I also witnessed situations where I was extremely concerned about the lack of direct supervision of animals undergoing anesthesia and medical procedures. The doctor was not always there supervising the animals, and I personally witnessed animals being left at the facility over the weekend. I also personally saw medications and supplies that appeared to be expired. Seeing something like that in a medical facility was incredibly disturbing and made me question the basic standards being followed there. And then there is the customer service. The woman who answers the phone was, in my personal experience, incredibly nasty, rude, and unprofessional. I personally witnessed and experienced behavior that I found dishonest and completely unacceptable when dealing with people who are trusting this facility with their beloved pets. I am not writing this because I read something online. I WORKED THERE. I WAS THERE. I SAW THESE THINGS WITH MY OWN EYES. That is why I feel so strongly about warning people. There is a huge difference between making a mistake and repeatedly failing to provide the basic care animals deserve. These animals cannot speak for themselves, cannot complain, and cannot tell their owners what is happening when they are left alone behind closed doors. If you love your animal, please do your research before bringing them here. Ask questions. Ask exactly what care is being provided. Ask who is supervising them. And don't simply assume that because you're being charged for something, that it is actually being done. After personally seeing what I saw while working there, I would never trust this facility with an animal of mine. Not my pet. Not my family member. Not an animal I care about. horrible, horrible horrible horrible horrible please do not send your pet here. I myself love animals and from the bottom of my heart I sincerely mean what I am saying because I am a witness to this animal abuse, and the way that they scheme people.
