Dr. B and his Staff are simply Great! Their dedication, compassion and concern for the health and well-being for our poodle Zach is simply unbelievable. Zach has been sick numerous times and whenever we brought him in, they treat and care for Zach as if he was their own dog. Whenever Zach was sick, Dr. B and his staff would call us to see how he was feeling. It is very comforting to know that Dr. B and his staff are a phone call away when Zach is not feeling well. Dr. B and his staff always puts us at ease and gives us step-by-step instructions of what to do when Zach is not feeling well. Dr. Buchalter and his staff gets a 10 Star-Rating and 2 Thumbs Up from us! Dr. B is the only Veterinarian we would go to.......he's the BEST!!! read more

Dr. B knows how to communicate with dogs better than anyone else I've ever met, and cares deeply about keeping them healthy and happy. Combine that with his 30+ years of experience, and his ability to explain complicated medical issues to the dogs' owners, as well, and you have the perfect vet. I wouldn't dream of seeing anyone else. read more

Dr. B and his staff are the most professional compassionate people I have ever met. Having known them for over 20 years they never cease to amaze me. We have been dividing our time between NY and Fl and came back recently when our beloved 12year old Cavalier Cooper experienced a cardiac episode that caused the most severe symptoms that we thought we would need to put him down. We called the office and they immediately squeezed him in and he was given the most extensive care possible. Thankfully our fur baby is still with us and doing much better because of Dr. B and his staff! We feel blessed to have such caring veterinary professionals. read more

Be prepared for aggressive upselling the moment you walk through the door. A representative will immediately push numerous add-on products and services, driving your bill into the hundreds -- or even thousands -- for something that would cost a fraction of the price at a local vet. I strongly do not recommend this place and suggest seeking care elsewhere for your PETS read more

I've had two dogs seen at this vet. It's incredible that they spend time to answer every question and address all concerns. They don't charge for answering emails or phone calls regarding your pet's care. They go above and beyond to insure your pet is completely comfortable during exams. They are extremely thorough when examining your pet, even to the point of noticing stuff I've never seen although I'm 24/7 with my pup. read more

This place is the best. From the Doctors and the staff. They are very caring and compassionate. I've been with them since. 2017. I started at the east meadow office with Dr. Infernuso who is such a great surgeon. Now I go to the Oceanside location which is new and is an er , icy center. They helped me through having to put my cat down that was extremely sick. They comforts me beyond belief and never rushed me through the grieving process. Dr. Pardo was with me as well as the staff all the way through my situation. Dr Moze and Dr. Rubin has also been wonderful. I have all good things to say about all the Doctors not only the one's who have helped me. Don't hesitate to use this place it is totally worth the drive. read more

Dr Hackett has taken wonderful care of my cocker spaniels for decades now. I do special needs breed rescue, so all the furkids who come to me have some health and/or behavioral challenge. She has helped me bring several pups back to health and supported me as well as my kids. I live south of Mission Valley, in San Diego, and thus it can be a very long and arduous drive, but she is worth it! I have friends who find it almost unbelievable when I tell them my pups' primary care physician is in Oceanside. Additionally, when my current furkid needed oral surgery for a significant tumor, we were referred to a specialist with whom both I and my pup were quite happy. All the staff are very caring, clearly love animals, and that's important to me, too. I worked over 60 years in healthcare and I am very picky about my own care providers - and about the care providers I select for my cocker spaniels. This is the place, and Dr Lindsey Hackett is the care provider!!!! I truly can't say enough good things about her and the facility. read more

Going to Dr. B for over 20 years. He has treated my fur babies as if they were his own. Entire staff goes above and beyond. Highly recommend Oceanside Vet. read more

Awesome staff! Best Doc. A bit pricey but worth every penny! I know several friends who take their kids (pups) here and all are happy. Having had to let go of Zachary 3/1/13 they were living, nurturing & went above and beyond! Harvey loves them too! read more

I absolutely love this hospital been coming here for many years. Dr B and his staff are always accommodating and professional. I will always remember when I had to put my cat to sleep the office was so caring and compassionate. They didn't rush me and were very supportive. So I highly recommend Oceanside Veterinary hospital. read more

Dr.B is excellent- very thorough, friendly, insightful and wonderful with animals. All of the staff I have worked with here are very warm and seem sincerely invested in the well being of their clients. They also have a good arrangement where they accept donated meds, foods and supplies to donate to families in need. On a sad note, they partner with a pet memorial service and really helped me out when I needed that service. Highly recommend! read more

I just went to this veterinary hospital to get my cat a check up, as she hasn't been feeling well. I had an appointment for noon and was taken right away. My cat was very scared and urinated in her carrier. They cleaned her up right away and made her feel comfortable. Dr. B came into the exam room to discuss the results of her testing with me. His report was comprehensive and he was a very nice guy, super approachable and happy to answer questions. I was in an out in less than 30 minutes. If you live in the Oceanside, area, or even if you don't, I suggest giving this place a chance to care for your fur baby if needed. read more

They turned me down in my time of need. My 18 y/o dog was suffering and was barely conscious. I was an emotional wreck and I asked for services. The answer I got was "sorry you're not a patient". read more

My cat got outside and was picked up by a stranger, who took him to the veterinary clinic here. Although he has a chip, they performed $700 worth of testing on him without my permission or trying to contact me first. When I was contacted, they stuck me with the bill, even though I had not authorized nor asked for any of it. Since the stranger still had my cat and was refusing to give him back until the bill was settled, there was little else that I could do but to pay it. I never met with nor spoke to the doctor. However, the blood work and x-rays that were done were misinterpreted. My cat has been vaccinated for FIV, so his blood work showed him as positive, which is normal. When I mentioned that to the (very rude) woman at the front desk, she told me that I was wrong and that he had gotten it from another cat. He's completely asymptomatic - the only reason he was marked FIV+ was from the blood work. The "lump" that showed up on his x-rays was an enlarged aorta. Another $700 worth of testing at our regular vet determined that he's actually doing very well for a 19 1/2 year old cat. The doctor here might be fabulous. I've never met him. I've actually tried to move my cats there several times since we could walk there, but never got past their very rude front desk people, who refused to schedule an appointment for me. I'm really glad now, after such an unprofessional experience. On top of all of that, the front desk took time to trash my vet! Very, very unprofessional. read more

Care for our dog. They're ok, but I wouldn't bring my next pet there.

This Doctor is by far the best doctor you will ever meet!! He literally gets on the floor with ur pet and kisses them as he examines them !! He has compassion and actually cares about the animal ,unlike other vets that only care about the money !! I've never met such an amazing person !! If you love your pet to death like I do then you want only the best medical care for them ,so I highly recommend this place, this doctor !!!!! Dr Barry Buchalter!!! Oh also the front desk staff is just as great ,they actually care too !! There's one receptionist named Lucy ,she's worked there for years apparently, and she is absolutely the kindest and most knowledgeable person when it comes to "what to do in case of an animal emergency "!! I love this place and will continue to give them my business !!!! read more

I absolutly swear by dr b we have had him as our vet for over 8 years. Him and his staff especially lucy has been nothing but caring for our 3 dogs. They always make time to schedule our visits whenever something is wrong with any of them. He was there for us when our dog was diagnosed with lymphoma and referred us to an oncologist dr that was just as nice and caring and dr b still would always check to see how our dog was doing throughout. read more

Dr. B is always happy and ready to handle any calamity my furry kids may have gotten themselves into. Everyone is friendly and nice and you get in and out pretty quickly as long as you check before coming how they are running. Just wish they put some money into the facility.. read more

an absolute disaster for us. worst experience in 40 plus years of pet ownership. we are seniors and professionals. We took our new puppy there at the suggestion of the store where we purchase him. When he received the vaccination, he yelped for at least 30 seconds and he was I. pain for 48 hours. The get them offered to sell him medications he needed. We instead told him we would purchase them on line. Long story short, the vet failed to tell us we needed prescriptions. He then mailed them to our home days later. When he was contacted by Chewy's he refused to authorize the purchase. I explained to his office manager that my wife and I had Covid and that we could not leave the house. She told me they would not do business with chewy since it's advertising was questionable and that they did not believe that the medication was the same even though it was identical. They refused to help ssn the manger hung up on me. Seniors beware. In my opinion, the single worst experience of my life and an obvious lack of concern for my adopted pet. read more

Dr. B. And his staff are phenomenal!! Dr. B. Is extremely compassionate when it comes to your pet. Animals that are seen by him receive the best care and attention. His knowledgeable staff members are there to assist you with an appointment or an emergency. For example, Dr. B. made time to help my aunt's dog during a power outage; the dog was attacked and lost part of her ear that day. They go above and beyond to help animals and their owners. Truly a wonderful group of people!!! Lucy, Jay, Tyrie, Nicole, and Crystal are a few of the devoted people that work with Dr. B. I highly recommend visiting Oceanside Veterinary Hospital if you love your pet(s) as much as I do. I'm a happy pet owner who has been with Dr. B. For 20 years! read more

Dr. B and his staff are THE BEST! Dr.B is absolutely gifted with animals. Forget the dog whisperer, he is the real deal animal whisperer. The staff, Lucy, Nicole & Tyree, among others, are professional, knowledgeable, attentive, kind and compassionate. I have been taking my dogs to them for at least the last 15 years. He took excellent care of my first dog, Killer. Killer, a Westie, had serious skin problems but Dr. B kept him strong, healthy and comfortable until he passed at 13.  Dr. B. helped my puppy, Virgil, when he swallowed a toy part by avoiding a dangerous surgery that a late-night emergency clinic wanted to perform. Just last Sunday night, Dr. B and Lucy stayed after office hours to check up on my dog, Wyatt who had had a mild reaction to a vaccine. Dr. B and his staff give me peace of mind. I know there is no other vet ANYWHERE that could take care of my dogs like Dr B. After 15 years, Dr. B and his staff are like family. read more

Dr. B is absolutely the best vet I have ever been to. I will never forget when I first took my dog Floppy to him the first thing he did was kiss him. That's when I knew he is truly sincere and cares about your pets well being. He has been taking care of 3 of my dogs and he was there for me and my dog every step of the way while he battled lymphoma and went above and beyond to help try and save him unfortunately he lost the battle but Dr B helped us find doctors that were extremely helpful in caring for him and keeping him comfortable during his battle. The staff is so caring and extremely helpful they also go out of their way to check on your pet. Especially Lucy she is extremely knowledgeable about pets and can help you in emergency situations and she calls to check on you and your pet daily. As someone who loves their pets and animals in general like I do I highly recommend Dr. B and his staff I trust them completely.
