My regular Groomer, unbeknownst to me, had closed temporary while going through a transition to expand his business. I was relieved to find out from a neighbor that there was another Groomer nearby that she had taken her dog to, and was satisfied with.
I called Precious Paws and spoke to the owner. I was pleased that, although she said she was completely booked, she squeezed my puppy in the schedule. I arrived, on time, two days later for my 1:30 pm appointment. I asked if she could give me an estimate of when the full service groom would be complete so that I would be on time. She said she could not give me a time, but would call to inform me when it was his turn. She also stated it was "not a big deal" if I arrived an hour or so after being called.
Not hearing anything by 3:30 p.m. I called to get an estimate. I was told in a very annoying voice that "I said I would inform you when he was ready". I took that to assume he had not yet been started. I knew that I had at least an hour after he was.
15 minutes later, I was approximately 40 minutes away when I got the call to pick him up. I told her that I was not near, but should be there within 40-45 minutes. After telling me it would not be a problem picking him up later, I was surprised to hear annoyance in her voice. I immediately contacted my sister who was close by and had her go to pick up my dog. The owner called again about 15 minutes later asking if I were near. When I told her I was not, she did not give me a chance to explain that someone was coming to get him before she blurted out yelling "I HAVE A KID TO PICK UP AND NOW I HAVE TO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS FOR SOMEONE TO PICK UP MY KID" and hung up the phone. I was shocked. Not knowing if she would take it out on my dog, I called back to explain my sister should be there momentarily. She never answered the phone after repeated calls. I don't know if she was having a bad day or what, but I got an eye opener. Being a new dog owner (less than 2 years), I learned quickly that every groomer is not like Terrie and his staff at Two Dogs and a Cat.
I got used to being treated with respect and feeling like my service is valued. This woman at Precious Paws was down-right nasty. To boot, my dog was not himself for the first two days after his groom with her. I have nothing concrete, but he's usually very happy after grooming.
As I write this, I'm aware that Terrie has reopened his Two Dogs and a Cat. I can tell you this is one, very appreciative dog owner. read more
