This is not ok, looks like they kicked my dog in the chest
    Fabio M.

I picked up my dog after a 1 week stay and he has a giant sore/scab on his chest, NO ONE called me or anyone on his contact list to let us know anything happened whatsoever, in addition to that the whole week I tried viewing their cameras to find that no matter what time I logged in there weren't any dogs in the group play areas or private play area Webcams, I also gave enough food for extra meals but when I picked him up there was no food returned to me and when I fed him he ate like he'd never seen food before which isn't anything that he normally does. I don't feel like my dog was cared for in a professional manner and for the price I paid for the stay the staff should show a lot more concern for my dogs well being besides telling me to send a picture to an email address to have it investigated, and then the final insult was that I was charged an extra $10 fee for dropping him off before 7am, they let me in the building at 6:55am by the time I left it was 7:10am. There is nothing professional with anything that I experienced at this place, and for $500 to board a 60lbs dog, I definitely expected a much higher level of care and service. I went from recommending this place to everyone to now, hoping no one or their pets ever have to deal with this poor quality of service. Update: I still haven't heard from the manager who was supposed to call me after emailing but after leaving my review I was called by Megean from Customer Relations who claimed that from an Illinois office phone number can guarantee me that my dog wasn't abused during his stay In Newton, Massachusetts also according to her they are supposed to do a daily health check of animals staying there, clearly that wasn't done at all or it would have been noticed and treated and I would have been called to be informed, also during the call I was told that I should take Apollo to his vet, so on top of it all now I have to take a day off from work to spend even more money due to their neglect WHICH IS ABUSE to my dog to have him looked at and that a credit was supposed to be given to me and a new statement sent to me after my call with her which was done but the credit I got isn't even close enough to cover the Vet visit or or my day of lost pay that now due to them I have to pay for and they aren't taking responsibility for costs they caused.

My dogs been there 2 days and the people were nice when we dropped her in. They let her have a experience day to get to know the place and we can watch her over the camera link. They greeted her with a smile and over the camera it seems like they are giving her a lot of attention. She gets some doggy play time with other dogs her size for a few hours in the morning and then she gets some separate play time during the afternoon. She seems to be getting a good bit of socializing but also rest time in her room

    Treats after Elena's grooming
    NIkky G.

Elena does both of our labradoodles and they love her. She has groomed them since they were puppies: now they are full grown at almost 2 years and approx 75 lbs each. She makes them look like rockstars! We followed her here from her previous job, and we will probably never take them to anyone else. Plenty of parking, as well

    Pooch Hotel 2023 Mother's day

Staff is friendly, Rory was so kind in being able to make room for my puppy Eloise for the group play day care (they have done this countless times) Love being able to see Eloise on the live camera's playing with all the other dogs. Staff will even upload pictures of your dog during their stay. Eloise loves her social life at the pooch hotel. I even got a hand made paw print art piece for mother's day. Leaving your puppy can be scary for both the owner and dog but it is so reassuring when I can view her on the cameras and she is happily greeting all the other dogs in the play groups. I know she is in good hands. Only thing that we have ever had an issue with is once we needed medication given to our pup and it was not fully communicated between employees if both doses were given or not. Maybe our bad on leaving it up to them to communicate rather than being up front and asking for both doses to be given with her meals but lesson learnt on our end. We also ended up leaving our lunch bag there for at least a good month and they never lost it and always knew who it belonged to, may be small but a great gesture for their organization for each pup that visits and their belongings. Wish there were more locations through massachusetts!

So you can imagine over the years... we have spent thousands at this place for her daycare, puppy training class, occasional grooming, and most recently also boarded her for our recent trip for a few days when we had no family/friends available. SCREENING - standard vaccines aside (rabies, kennel cough, distemper, etc) they also requires the Canine Influenza. Even with the kennel cough vax, Juneau managed to catch it 2x when she first started (of course always during the most inconvenient times). Most likely because during her puppyhood, she attended daycare 3-4x/week! Now that she's an adult she goes about 1x/week. They called me urgently to get her but I was in meetings all day. Since I lived nearby they actually dropped her off to stop the spread. There is always risk when exposing your dog to an environment with other dogs. Several instances when Juneau returned, she had goopy eyes so who knows what she got herself into. I'm not sure if they give dogs in the same group treats for "Birthday Parties", since she's come home with diarrhea a couple of times too. LOGISTICS - They are regimented and organized. Before booking, I'd recommend looking through their website thoroughly for costs/procedures. They've itemized a list of things that could incur extra fees (i.e. midday feeding). I've seen inside only when we took puppy classes with K9East, but they have a large facility for indoor/outdoor space. Every other month they seem to send an email update with a growing list of housekeeping reminders about how to drop off/pick up the dog. They seem to have different prices and minimums depending on the time of the year for boarding plus lots of add-ons that may interest you. COST - They market themselves as "luxury" so definitely not the most frugal option. They are reliable, provide good quality care and are the closest distance wise for us. You can prepay bulk packages to get 14% off 20, or 10% off 10 to save. They raised the price from $38 to $42/day since we joined at the beginning of 2022, which isn't too bad. However, the cost of overnight boarding increased drastically from $60 to $90/night for dogs 13+ lbs! This already feels like a mid-range hotel minus the taxes. I imagine if you have a large dog you'd need to shell out for the $105+/night options. Overnight boarding includes 1 day of daycare at full price $42, so if you just book 1 night it will be a minimum of ~$130. DAYCARE - they evaluate the dogs to determine what group(s) to place them in and whether they will be a good fit. When our Barkbuster's trainer called them up apparently Juneau is often very excited and needs to be walked around the premises before being allowed to enter the playgroup. For safety they remove all collars put them back on once you pick up the pup. It's a nice feature that the GingrApp website allows them to intake client info and make reservations. They also will attach a "Report Card" with 3-6 photos (rare occasion video) and 3 descriptors for their demeanor during the day. It is disappointing when 20~30% of the photos are super blurry. I know it's hard to photograph active dogs indoors on the go! They must be super organized to be able to identify lookalikes! BOARDING - you need to individually bag each portion of your dog's meal so the staff can easily feed the dogs or a fee of $5/day bulk food will be applied. Aside from the food packing and private 4'x6' suite, there isn't a discernable difference between what happens at daycare and boarding from the report card. They lump all the pics into one and there aren't different comments for the days that get pulled in. I imagine just the last daycare demeanor gets attached. I do wonder what is the calming music they play :) for the pups. GROOMING - Juneau's received a few baths due to our own laziness. I imagine they need to use a neutral scented shampoo. I didn't love the faint scent nor feel that value outweighed doing it ourselves. One of the times they did send her home with an adorable Christmas colored bandana! EXTRA - You can spoil your dog and add a "Birthday Party" package. I missed attaching it in 2021 due to some communication confusion. 2022, I added and it looks like she probably had fun! The staff took 20 additional photos inside, but sadly they were mostly blurry :( so won't be rebuying. I always look forward to the last week in October when they have the Howl-o-Ween festivities. The first year Juneau took part she got a fun chew toy prize so not sure if she didn't stand out in 2021. Overall a great place to trust your dog with a caring team!

We've only…read moreinteracted with Kelly, and have found her to be very responsive (as in, nearly always responds within in 15 minutes of an email) and 100% available (she has never once said no to a gig). For cat sitting (2 cats, uncomplicated needs), her rate has been $16, which I find very reasonable. That said, we have been working with Kelly for about a year and a half, and recently decided to switch to another cat sitter. This was not because of anything overwhelmingly egregious on Kelly's part, but rather that we've had better services from other sitters in the past and would like to return to that. For instance, other sitters have always texted us pictures and updates about our cats. With Kelly, I found that she'll give me a brief update if I email to check in, but that's it. I would've preferred if she texted pics daily with every visit as a standard. (Note: When I emailed Kelly to share some concerns/feedback and ask for our keys to be returned, she stated that she is happy to do this for her clients upon request.) Another example is that over a longer gig (4 days) this summer, we returned home to an empty water bowl and two very thirsty cats. When I asked about it over email, Kelly wrote, "I gave them water every time I saw them just like I always do. I have been watching cats daily in the heat for ten years and two cats will empty a bowl of water in one day when it's hot. The water bowl is not big and now that I think of it it was empty each time I came so maybe when your [sic] home you fill it more often or there is another issue." I concur with Kelly that it's possible that a combination of heat, cats, time, etc may have led to the water bowl winding up empty by the time we got home (a day after her last visit), but what concerns me is that she noticed the bowl being continuously empty, and did not reach out to us. I would've been 100% okay with her putting down another water bowl (even without asking us). Also, increased drinking in cats can be a sign of something pretty serious, and I would like to have a pet sitter that has the awareness and expertise to alert me to something like this. Again, not canceling our service because of major issues, but rather some minor ones that overall just put us off. ETA: Kelly said that she mailed my key back to me. It was never received.

Kelly's rates are very reasonable, and Kelly's very dependable. Kelly's also accommodating. Once when Theo was with Kelly, I ended up in the emergency room, and was unable to care for Theo for a couple of days. Kelly kept Theo until I could resume caring for him. Kelly loves animals, and animals love her. Kelly also took care of my first dog about 10 years ago, and he also loved Kelly. Kelly sends pictures to me frequently, to show how much fun Theo's having. When Kelly comes to pick him up in the morning to take him out for the day, Theo shoots down the stairs, to get into her car, because he knows he's going to have a blast. For cat owners, I have recommended Kelly to one of the most difficult people I know who needed someone to care for her cat who has cardiac issues. Kelly was responsible for feeding him, making sure his water bowl was filled, and checking on his well-being. When my neighbor came back she went out of her way to tell me how grateful she was that I recommended Kelly to her. I believe Kelly provides one of the most important qualities that all animal lovers want, peace of mind knowing your pet is going to feel loved and cared for while you're gone.

We had a beach getaway planned for early summer (booked a year in advance) and had no idea what to do with our (then 13 week old) kitten. I spoke with Patty on the phone and she eased all of my worries about leaving our baby Leo with her. We boarded Leo for the week we were away and he was the happiest boy when we picked him back up! He is a very needy kitten (needs lots of attention and cries if he doesn't get it), so I was worried about leaving him - but no need to worry with Patty! Patty made sure to have him out for playtime regularly and sent us lots of pictures to keep us updated. Leo absolutely loved her! Plus, Patty even allowed us to bring our non-clumping litter for her to use during the week, since Leo was still too young for regular clumping (if you've ever used it, you know non-clumping litter can be a pain, but Patty didn't even bat an eye at the inconvenience of it!). We left Leo with her again at the end of the summer for a last minute weekend trip and received the same 5-star treatment! We love Patty and can't recommend The Cat's Pajamas Inn highly enough!
