I've been coming here for over 17 years (since back surgery), but like once every other year now. I recently had a back injury and needed care on short notice. Luckily, Dr Pontious was available to take me in. The appointment felt rushed, but I was in immense pain and needed care in that moment. He had assumed that the diagnosis was cracked ribs, without getting X-rays too. About halfway through the appointment, he had his receptionist take over for him. He went into another appointment with another client. He was doing some sort of laser treatment on my back, and he just left. There was no explanation. I asked the receptionist what he was having her do on me, and she had no idea. I felt completely neglected. I hadn't come here for two years, and I probably won't be coming back for a long time. $75 just to get my neck adjusted and a misdiagnosis (later found out it wasn't cracked ribs). read more

This is not a bad chiropractic office but they no longer respond to my voicemails or texts requesting an appointment. Maybe they let go of the admin staff during COVID? It's odd because they text me with reminders to schedule. The doctor has a gentle touch and is caring. However, if you are a big guy like me and sometimes need the strong arm adjustment to snap it all back in place, this is not the right place. I miss my chiropractor dr. I came here a few weeks ago due to an injury that caused a sharp pain on my neck and left shoulder. I called in last minuets requesting to schedule an appointment and they squeezed me in. They also take insurance so knowing that helps a lot. I've been to a few chiropractor before and I felt like it didn't do much for me, didn't help much. However, Dr. Jess knows what he is doing. He's a sport medicine too so that helps me because my injury came from working out. Something that most chiropractor doesn't do is X-Ray and you get it here if it is needed and he will go over it with you. My body was twisted with one shoulder higher than the other and after finding Dr Jess Pontious on Yelp, I came in for an evaluation. Dr. Jess listened to my concerns and family medical history, conducted a very thorough examination of my spine and nervous system (which included X-rays and a thermal scan) and presented a treatment plan to get my body back in balance. I've heard some horror stories about bad alignments and chiropractic care gone wrong, and it was important for me to have full confidence in whoever would be touching my spine. With more than 20 years of experience and excellent reviews from other Yelpers, I decided to try a few treatments to see if I like the process before committing to a full treatment plan. Dr. Jess was supportive of my desire to have a "trial period" and took the time to educate me as to the process and the goal of each alignment and treatment that he did. I went on a family vacation in the middle of treatments and a day after I returned I had excruciating pain in my lower back to the point where I could barely walk (this was probably from sitting for a prolonged period on an international flight and picking up heavy suitcases...). Dr. Jess altered the treatment plan to focus on alleviating the pain and within 2 days the pain was gone! Pontious Chiropractic Loved it Hello~ I have been a client of Dr. Jess since 2005. I came to him as I tore my meniscus in my knee and was afraid to go through surgery. He keeps me pain free and I never felt pain in my knee since! He is SO Wonderful as an educator, body mechanic and good friend. He ensures his patients understand the process of chiropractic in an easy to understand way with videos, classes and just his conversation when you are being treated. He is very kind and thoughtful too. I recently thought I would do yoga (after a couple glasses of wine-MISTAKE) I obviously did a bit too much and the next day I could barely get out of bed! I wanted to take a few moments to praise the skills of this doctor. I came to Dr. Pontious after my back went out over thanksgiving. I went to medical doctors who threw me into traction and gave me heavy meds. After a week still in pain even completely beyond high on meds a friend took me to see Dr. Pontious. He did x-rays and a simple adjustment since I was in so much pain. After that 1 adjustment I was completely sold on Chiropractic and Dr. Pontious. Over the years I have moved away to Minnesota and Oregon. Both times Dr. Pontious transferred my x-rays and charts with wishes of continue good health. Yet in Minnesota I could not find a single Chiropractor that even came close to Dr. Pontious, even after 2yrs of searching. When I moved to Oregon I went through 8 Chiropractor before I found one that was close to Dr. Pontious's skill in adjustments and knowledge of continue spine / body health. That being said, when I found myself back in the Bay Area I went straight to Dr. Pontious for my health care.
