I'm secretly amazed people still go here - as adults, I mean. When I was a teenager this was where teenagers went to spend their evenings trying to impress girls and surreptitiously drinking beers they'd sneaked into the toilets. Oh and playing pool, sometimes. But it seems that grown-ups enjoy this place too, and not just in an ironic faux-slumming way. Turns out people actually like pool, I guess. Which works out well, because that's what the Ponsonby Pool Hall is all about. Plus, now that you're of age, you can enjoy a drink with your game. In the open, I mean - one that you bought there rather than smuggled in zipped up in your oversized backpack. What weirds me out most is that the place isn't even full of obnoxious, drunkenly underage teenagers. Where did they all go?
