With an almost legendary reputation on the New Zealand backpacker circuit for drunken debauchery and the incriminating photo documentation on the Facebook page afterwards, Frenzi Bar Crawl has become a must-do for any, party-loving, hostel-dwelling traveller on a visit to the city.
It has been known to reach numbers of up to 300 and regularly holds theme nights (in the vein of "Anything But Clothes" or "Traffic Light Party") the Crawl is run by a group of ex-pat Brits now residing in Auckland and boasts free drinks, games (usually involving perpetual nakedness and drinking beer through someone else's sweaty sock), prizes and a taste of the best nightlife around Queen Street. You'll visit four bars and clubs that run on rotation every week. Always starting at backpacker stalwart The Camel and frequenting Margaritas, Code and Cassette Number Nine amongst others.
I'm not saying it's the best night out in the world. But for $10, four free drinks, four bars (if you can make it that far!) and a whole lot of drunk guys and girls having a good time, you can't really go wrong.
It starts at the Fat Camel Bar at 8.30pm every Thursday night. read more
