We have loved the Court Street location for years and decided to try this one when we finally found it open (hours are evidently wrong across the internet). While the items we had -- one taco and one quesadilla -- were okay taste wise, we were disappointed to find they no longer use all white meat chicken, so we won't be back. Our server seemed less than thrilled to have us come in during the middle of the afternoon. Also, the place was a mess -- I don't think they've swept or cleaned the floor in any way in weeks and most of the tables were dirty as well. Sad to see a Syracuse legend fall this far.

Food was, excellent. Chicken super burrito loaded with great tasting chicken and other goodies. Service was good even though they were busy. Inside seating is large and they offer outdoor patio seating. One of the best burritos. Self service go up to counter, order and they prepare food right in front of you.

Great service, great food as usual. Choice of Ham, bacon or chorizo with eggs, potatoes, onions and peppers, pico, cheese and mild sauce for me. The only item I leave out are the potatoes. Everything was hot and freshly prepared. It's always enough for 2 meals for me.

My second visit here and I couldn't wait to come back because first visit was so good. I heard that they had Taco De Birria on Tuesday's as a special and I had to try them. I got the mixed ones which had shrimp, shredded beef and pork filling. You got three of them in the corn tortillas with a spicy chili dipping sauce!!!! They were delicious!! I'm not really an expert on Birria but they tasted outstanding to me and I ate everything . They were not skimpy on the shrimp either because each one had 3-4 shrimp on each taco. I highly recommend coming here.

Parking lot is on the side of the building, so there is easy access. Nice and roomy with many tables on the inside. Pretty vast menu of different things that can be ordered. I ordered the skewered shrimp tacos- they were soooo good with a little bit of pico on top and lime. I ran out of pico and asked for more. They happily gave me another container full. Everything was seasoned so well, from the carnitas to the shrimp to the rice and beans. You don't come here for authentic...but you do come here for the portions and taste.

Tried this place last night with a couple of friends and I will 100% be coming back! If you are in the mood for good tacos, burritos, etc., come here! The portions are MASSIVE for the price and everything was freshly made on the spot. I got the super burrito with chicken and that burrito was larger than my face. It was absolutely delicious and even had leftovers to take home! My friends got the chicken tacos and chicken quesadillas, which they also loved. The staff is friendly and there is indoor seating. It is large inside and even has a little outdoor patio! Definitely come here.

Incredible breakfast tacos!! This is everything I miss about Texas and the first place in NY I've had authentic tasting breakfast tacos!! I am ecstatic my father found this gem and shared it with me! I could eat these daily. Their chorizo is very tasty, the first tasty chorizo I've had in NY!! My kids have been bugging me when we can go back to Texas for some amazing food, so I am thrilled I can drive 25 minutes for the same experience!! I'll be back very soon!!

I've always wanted to try their birria taco Tuesday special. It was good but not as good as I was expecting. The side sauce was yummy, but the meat in the taco was a little rough and chunky. It was super busy but they got our orders out in good timing. There is a bit of a cold feeling in the actual restaurant itself, but I would give it another shot and try something else!

The quickest way to describe Ponchitos is that it's the far superior local alternative to Chipotle and Moe's. Their fundamental menus are based around that same structure. Burritos so large you need two hands to pick them up. Tacos about the size you'd expect a burrito to be. Nachos, quesadillas, salads, etc. And if you do a quick look at their website, you might think that's it. The more we've ordered from here, the more and more options we came to realize they offer, but getting them all together in one place, especially online, is no easy task. I'd love to see that clarified, because I feel like a lot of people are truly missing out on a lot of great stuff. Breakfast tacos and burritos are a requirement. Just like their regular items, the sizes are ridiculous, especially for the cost. The first one I ordered was a burrito with ham, and it ended up being breakfast and lunch. The ham is cut thick, and unless you're into that, I think the other options for meat fit way better. The next time I did breakfast, I got a taco with bacon. It's one of my favorite things to get for breakfast in Syracuse. We were surprised to find they have wings. Among a separate list of other items, it's on what I think they called their Bar Menu, and those items are not always available. We ordered some to try, and wouldn't you know they were perfect. Great flavor, cooked perfectly. There's a hand full of items that, if we see on a menu we have to try as a rule. You can't win if you don't play. And aside from wings, that brings us to the Cuban Sandwich. Honestly, when we added that to an order, we pretty much just felt like we were crossing the item off our list so we could say we tried it. Just like with the wings, we came in with no expectations at all and got absolutely swept off our feet. Incredible. That same thick cut ham I thought wasn't right for the burrito - absolutely perfect for the sandwich. And it didn't even occur to me that they've already got some of the best slow cooked pork already on hand. I've tried any of the "must have" Cuban sandwiches that I've heard of in Syracuse, and these are at least on the top 3. Completely out of left field. I'll say it again: You can't win if you don't play! Birria Tuesdays! Every Tuesday they take down the bar menu and dedicate all their space to birria tacos. Steak and Shrimp, or just Steak. They were the first I've ever tried, and they are life changing. The way they're cooked on the grill and presented has a very authentic feel to it. It's not a ton of food for what you're paying, (and I think that's the only time I'd ever say that about this place), but one of their best items, and only available once a week. Lastly, our biggest take away from the place for us has been the Chicharons. It's the perfect thing to snack on or pair with a small meal. This kind of meat is really easy to mess up, and they get it perfect every time. They're seasoned with at least cumin, and always crispy. This was an entirely new food to us, so I'm not sure if there's a "correct" way to eat them, but sometimes we dip them in horseradish, bbq sauce, honey mustard, whatever we have on hand. I could go on about this place all day. I only mentioned the stuff you absolutely have to try here. If they closed down, Syracuse would be a noticeably sadder place because of it.

We got the Tuesday special of Burris Tacos and they were phenomenal. I hate that they only have them on Tuesday's because they are so good. The rice and beans with chorizo was also delicious. Will definitely be coming again

Walking through the restaurant was nice as the space was very large and the decor indoor was cozy and whimsical. Our server was nice throughout the meal. However, I did get a water glass that had marks on it that looked like someone just drank out of it and a crumb on the rim. I asked them if they could get me a clean cup and they ended up bringing the same one as the same mark and crumb were still there. For food, our table ordered a few items to share. We got: -CAULIFLOWER WINGS: The chutney/salsa on top of the fried cauliflower was nice and gave the item a little sour kick. However, the cauliflower itself was not cooked fully so not as soft as I wanted it to be. -SYRACUSE POUTINE: The appearance of the poutine was not the best. However, the gravy it came with was very flavorful and tasty. The potatoes themselves were not fried and were in wedge form but went well with the gravy. The small globs of melted cheese on top were a nice complement. -CAJUN SLIDERS: The slider compliments/sauce went well together but the sliders themselves had grill marks on it which gave a bitter bite to those parts of the slider. Additionally, the fried shrimp inside of the slider still had the tail on and so it was a bit of a surprise to bite into a full tail while eating a slider. All in all, a cute spot to see people but food had some hit or miss components.

The first time I went was during the lunch rush, and honestly, it was amazing. Before I was even fully inside, the staff greeted me, asked if it was my first time, offered me samples, walked me through the menu, and gave recommendations based on what they personally liked and what they thought I'd enjoy. They even explained which sauces paired best with different items. The energy in the restaurant was so upbeat and welcoming, even though they were incredibly busy. They treated every customer that way, and it really made me feel like they value both their employees and their customers. That positive atmosphere definitely stood out. On top of that, the food was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. I left thinking, "I'm definitely coming back." My second visit was around the start of the dinner rush, around 6:00-6:30 p.m., and it was a completely different experience. The staff was still kind and polite, but the energy just wasn't the same. It felt much quieter and less engaging than my first visit. I also paid for extra sauce because I remembered wanting more the first time and having to pay for it, but my meal came without any sauce on the food--it was only on the side. When I asked about it, they had no problem fixing it and were very friendly about it, which I appreciated but it just seemed odd that the first time my food was made with sauce included. Unfortunately, the food itself also didn't taste quite as good as it did during my first visit. I haven't tried any of the desserts yet, but they looked incredible. The cake slices are HUGE--I honestly think one slice could easily be shared between two or even three people. At around $7.99, I think they're reasonably priced considering the portion size. Overall, I also found the menu prices to be fair, and there's a great variety of options to choose from. Because my experiences were so different, I'm giving this place 4 stars instead of 5. If my second visit had matched my first, this easily would have been a five-star review. I'll definitely be back, and next time I'll probably stick to going during lunch since that first experience was so memorable. For anyone wondering what I ordered, I got the chicken and lamb halal over rice. It came with onions, tomatoes, and a few other toppings (I don't eat onions, so I can't remember everything that was included), along with a piece of naan bread. During my first visit, I couldn't decide between breakfast and lunch, and the staff recommended I try the rice platter--and I'm so glad they did because it was delicious. I still couldn't resist ordering a side of French toast, though, and that was a great choice too! Everything was generously portioned, and I left full both times with left overs. I do believe they told me they serve breakfast all day as well.
