On a random Thursday night we walked in assuming it'd be a quick grab n' go meal. We very quickly saw that was not the case as a stream of customers went in & out of the front doors every few minutes. We knew it'd be a bit of a wait for our order to be ready and given the delicious smells coming from the kitchen, we decided to take a seat in their dining area and get comfortable. I was in the area and came across this restaurant. The food hand down delicious. We had tacos, quessadillas and tres leches. The birria,sauce is so good. The tortilla for the tacos homemade. The service is excellent, nice family owned business. The owner Candy is so nice and her daughter as well. The location is easy to find with street parking outside. I came on a weeknight. Service was a little slow and they seemed to be out of several things, but could have just been there on an off night. My visit wasn't too long after they relocated so they totally could have still been getting settled. I wouldn't particularly mind having to wait again (I'd just plan on it possibly taking time) because the food is made with a lot of love and flavor and is fantastic. Portions are huge. I ordered too much food and had leftovers. I wasn't expecting the heaping portions. Last minute I decided on the shrimp birria fries, and those were BANGING. Loaded with toppings. The shrimp were so plump and perfectly seasoned. The shrimp birria tacos were good too. Rice pudding was the only dessert they had in the case at the time but it was phenomenal. Really amazing Birria tacos! I have never been to the actual store but I was able to try their tacos at the taste of SYR. The line was so long and rightfully so because their food is great. The tacos were filled with meat, the consume sauce was amazing and they provide limes for a fresh squeeze. It's been on my radar for awhile and finally made it this weekend (Oct 2024). I had the birria tacos; one beef and one chicken. They were outstanding and may be the best birria I've ever eaten. A simple interior that is a counter to order with a countertop and barstools facing the street. There is also a sizable event/dining room that were offered to us for eating but we decided to stay in the window and watch the day pass by while pigging out. I'll be back here again hopefully soon. A robust red sauce, a lighter red sauce with overtones of cilantro, and a spicier green sauce. All were delicious, though I was longing for a green sauce with a little more heat. The service was great. They were a bit backed up when I got there and they offered me a free drink while I was waiting. The Syracuse test kitchen was clean and neat, but the atmosphere was quite nondescript. They were playing some indigenous music. This is real food with a home cooked character.
